Time for some change.

Ok, this is a rant, sorta... It seems that gtplanet was a better off place when before gtf got shut down... I am not saying that everyone from GTF I horrible and rude, in fact many if not all are decent people.

It seems however, that our "native" population seem to have a problem with some of the things that they post and things that they say. Before, we all just said what we felt, kept the insults to a minimum, and lived hapily ever after. Now it seems that every post ment in joking manner, has been taken for a personal insult, and the people involved have turned that post into a war zone. Three threads have been closed in the last week, and up untill now, and since the summer, none have been closed to my knowledge.

Many a good board has been destroyed and closed becuase of this internal conflict. This board is ment to exchange idea's and opinions, not vertual fist fights. I am not saying everyone has to be like little cute elves always agreeing, just respect others opinions, and state your own. It pisses me off to see that the rumble strip, (mabe a rename is in order?) has turned into a battlezone, with great topics turned into trash. Respect people, in life you will have to do it, so why not practice now?!

Oh, and as a side note, lets see some more picture posts! I have run out of eye candy.
 
I was hoping that something like this wouldn't happen with all the new members...

you wanna know something? most of the threads in the GTF were turning that way when it shut down... since there were a few privileged members there that were talking 🤬 in the other members backs on another secret forum, the attitude changed, and most were pissed... i just wish this place doesn't end up with the same attitude... all the GTFers reading my post will know what i'm talking about... and i don't want to get back in it.
 
I really enjoy the new blood in the forums....it's good for the jean pool so to speak. We've been very fortunate to have 99% of our members here to be respected individuals who add value to this site. Unfortunately, there's always going to be that 1% out there, and they've either come around and joined the community, or they're no longer here.

There are forum rules that Jordan has layed out, and I would hope that common respect would help dictate the actions of individuals in this community.

GTPlanet ROCKS!!! And I'm a hard core addict, so I'll be here for a while.... ;)

We don't want anyone to leave, just respect others opinions. Leading a post with "that is the stupidest idea ever" dosn't help things....

Just joking;) Like Deathhwak said, we don't want anyone to leave(if we did, chances are that person would already be gone...;)).
 
recently, although i've failed at this mostly, i've tried to post long, meaningful replies. i think this is how it should be, and i love it that way, cos i like to read all the posts, comment on any the i agree/disagree with, give a helping hand to anyone who needs it, express my opinion, and lastly, try to have a laugh. although i think we all can say one or two of my posts have been abusive, so i'll stop on that. and when the GTF comes back up, i'll think i'll stay here until i get bored with forums and move on to something else :P
 
New blood is good, but as with any drastic change there is going to be a period of adjustment. GTFers know each other, and when someone posts something that us GTPers might see as rude, they (GTFers) understand that persons sense of humor better than we do, and let it slide, and the same is true in reverse.
We all need to take a breath, and relax because it's not worth the trouble. If you don't like what someone says, place him on your ignore list. It's that easy.
I for one would have liked to see all of the new members stay on after GTF gets back in action, but in the direction we are heading, nobody is going to want to stay. (Although, how could you leave a forum with over 200 smilies) ;)

Here here. :cheers: 'Tis why I left that place, (before the shutdown) never to return.

I try to keep it friendly, with an occasional dig here and there, but my general rule of thumb is that this is someone else's house, and I respect their rules and culture. :cool:

(Of course, if I'm still here a year from now, then this will be my home too :) )

You've totally hit the nail on the head Deathhawk and Tom. When the influx started, I backed off on my posting, because I didn't want to offend anyone either intentionally or otherwise. Now I think I'm getting the hang of some of the new people, and so my posting's going back up again.

It'll all work out in the end!

And if it doesn't, the mods will have to start banning people! :)

I thought I could get an explanation, especially for "The Quote Game!" because it had nothing wrong with it that I was aware of."

I have found it to be common practice that if "I" delete or close a thread, I send a Private Message to the individual who started that thread. This way, the member can see why it was closed or deleted. After all, this is how we learn what is and what isn't acceptable....

BTW - I only see that three of your threads were deleted.

I'm sorry to hear that some of you guys think that the GTFrs coming here has changed your place for the worse. I realy don't see much fighting going on. And hey, with any large forum your gonna have trouble makers and forum flooders. Thats the price of being popular.
I thought "The Quote Game" was pretty fun, hope noone took it serious.
