I'm hiring a car for the season with the best team (the guy who actually makes the cars) and it's going to cost us around 25k. Plus they're faster than BARC Renaults.

That's not bad, still my dad wouldn't pay that and I haven't saved up anywhere near that much yet!

So back to the thread...sort of. what would you say is the real 1st place time for motegi?

I would start with yinato's time of 1'32.043 since he is the first one using the correct tires and all times look consistant from his on out. That would be how I look at it.

In my opinion, yinato's lap looks pretty legit to me but I wouldn't know how to verify it for sure.

[edit] what he just said! ^

Do you know anything about kart racing? There are specifications, but some manufacturers can produce better equipment than others. Happens in almost every level of motorsport.

A little bit - I worked at a go kart track for about 6 months. Had quite a bit of fun racing clapped out hire karts (clubman spec) against the nice new clubmans that turned up on weekends. They seemed to hold their own.

1:32.400 at Motegi for 8th place. I got a little nervous at the end but I didn't lose too much time.

Well then you should know that some are faster than others. There must have been older karts that were faster than other old karts.

If people do run ballast on the FGT, what position do they find gives the best results? Would it be best to go to the extreme's or leave the ballast quite central?

You gotta stop getting so nervous at the end of your laps Andrew. Heaven knows what kind of laps you'd run if you kept your cool. 👍

I can only look at your time with admiration and aspire to get closer to it 👍.
I'm currently on 1.34.706 for 377th which I'm pretty pleased with for now.

Guys, keep the thread on topic. No more personal attacks or off-topic stuff.

Out of interest what camera are people using for the FGT? Personally I like to use the cockpit cam for formula cars and karts as it is more immersive. 👍

1:37.2xx
Impreza 22B
I have not been able to reach the gold
Position.......5xxx or 6000...yes i know, i suck.

Yippee, up to 17th :D. Which lap is everyone finding their fastest? Mine is my very first one which is strange as the tyres are not fully warmed up until casino corner. There should be time found in T1, but I can never find it with warm tyres :(

I use the cockpit view too gives me a better feel for the car
Also used your tune on the fgt to amazing results wasn't to far away from my settings but used yours and within 5 laps did a sub 1:13 taking 0.184 off my pb landing me 139th great tune bandit really appreciate you posting it helped me out big time

Can anyone give concise advice on how to attack Monaco because I just slide every time I go off throttle and every time I power out of a third gear corner. Bandit's advice got me through the swimming pool but I seem to butcher everywhere else!

I have a habit of doing a Felipe Massa into Sainte Devote too!!

My advise is to attack every corner I found if I try to be cautious I'd either slide out or be so slow through the corner I'd lose time but by attacking every corner fully I found I had more control over the car this is with bandits tune thou also found if you add some ballast and run at 50/50 weight distribution it's much more predictable

I broke through the 15s and got a 14.9! Cheers for the advice and tunes...now to have a go at pushing through the 14s.

Okay, this is my new tune for now, it still needs a bit of refining but I think it is an improvement, let me know what you think. 👍

FGT Setup 002 by BanditKarter, on Flickr

Clean oil, no aids.
To get the gears, reset to default, set max speed to minimum then set final and 1st-7th gears.

I did 1:10.899 with it but was a scruffy lap.

The FGT is literally the most stressful car to drive in the game for me. So damn....twitchy...unpredictable...always feels like a mess even when it's going faster than almost any other car in the game. I suppose it is actually fitting that it gets the stress going, as the physical and mental toll of driving a F1 is pretty horrible at times.

The FGT A-Spec Championship was a huge pain, and took me multiple restarts. After I did finally gold every race, I wanted nothing to do with the car pretty much forever. Didn't bother washing it, restoring the engine or chassis rigidity, just left it as be to collect dust for driving me crazy.

With all that being said, the FGT made me a little proud today.

Earlier today I was sitting just within reach of gold at 1:19.046. But a few hours later, after watching some F1 videos and stuff, my imagination needed some humoring and drove me back to the TT.

I had the mindset that all F1 drivers have when they come to Monaco. As Mario Andretti once said: "If you're not here to win, how can you even justify being here?"

First 1-2 laps were rubbish, but I believe it was the third that I shined.

Out of nowhere I pulled a 1:17.666

2,912 on the leaderboards is far from a "win", but the champagne was still sprayed. :)

Great job whodoyouthink. The FGT is a beast to tame. I haven't tried this TT, and and frankly, a bit hesitant to even try it, knowing how frustrated I will get.

Thanks Oshawa. Though I certainly still haven't tamed the FGT. It's just one of those cars that always wants to kill you, no matter how good you are at driving it.

You should give the TT a try though. Monaco only comes once a year, and even though it takes everything you have and then some to have success, it's worth all the pain and agony when you come out on top.

FGT/Monaco = The Dread.....

However, i have managed to get 1:35.898 at Motegi in the 'IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI '10' for a start on this TT.

For anyone having difficulty taming the FGT for this event, I have made a really good tune. If you want to try doodlemonopoly, I tuned this on my DS3 and was able to run 1:14s easy, and I'm not the best driver. I'm hoping you can push it to the top 50...?

Oh, I'm using the wheel on this TT. But thank you though. :)

After spending a while working on the Subaru lap(1:35.283) I got the whim to try the FGT for a minute. I ended up having a bit too much fun and ran 20 laps after an aborted lap or two working the kinks out at the very start.

I was only really looking to get a feel for it, so the only changes I made were full downforce and the gearbox adjustment. Managed 1:16.069 on Comfort Hards. Fun stuff. I might not even bother doing a lap on the spec tire even if I run more. :)

Just hit a 1:12.1 and up to 48th. Still .2 out there though.
