Groan......I had 5 or 6 possible 1:30.6s at Laguna Seca but ended up screwing up somewhere. It is starting to get a bit annoying :boggled:
I'll spot you a 1:30.6. :D I know your pain, though. It took quite a few miles to get that time, but over 2 tenths better than my previous top time when I hit it. And yet was still a scruffy lap, meaning more time is out there.

I think I am done with Monza and I am stuck on Silver. So close but I spend a 1/2 hour today and I could only get within .2 of my best time. I needed .2 in the other direction and I can be up on my time for gold pace to then mess up Curve di Lesmo; I just can't get those corners right in this car.

I've no time tomorrow to do this. +3.18% So close but no cigar...

 , i know the feeling, i did spend 190 km's this morning stuffing things up, i was .414 up on my previous lap of 1:30.851
and totally messed up the last corner....., it's there...... but will it ??......

it's 45 minutes ago, but am still 300% frustrated, what a way to start the workday :lol::lol:

@Dolph Drago nice mate!,

😂 me and doodle somehow found better pace today. we got real close to get 28.8 but we bottled it. So my previous prediction of 31.600 for gold might be slightly wrong, i would say 31.520 is the new safe gold
I can't press like button on that one :) but I do admire your skills!!! Just out of this world!!! Thanks for sharing replays, I try to learn how you are doing it and replicate as good as I can. I do get better times, so thank you for that!

ok, now the first thing i'm going to do when i'm off work, is watching that replay
i am save in the 30's but you two make a whole lot of people very angry :lol::lol::lol:

Well, got gold last Thursday, Monza is golden but my god i'm struggling big time at Laguna.
I've picked up some time this week but still only 1:32.400, optimal has never been under 1:32 and the gold time keeps dropping.
I'm good until the corkscrew and that ackward left corner....looking like two silvers out of the last four,....must be my old age setting in, lol.....ya that's it...:boggled:

For the corkscrew, use 3rd gear. The car will be much more stable. For the next left....use that light/shadow line as your brake marker. Then apply very very little braking to drag your car to the left (4th gear).

New test today in Monza and in fact I have 300 km for nothing !!!!😪😪
Impossible to approach my time yesterday of 1'46'668 and even less to aim for my optimal time yesterday of 1'46'194 !!!!. I almost sent the DS4 away and of course my teenage daughter laughed when she saw me not succeeding. 😡😡🤣🤣
Finally, I am still happy with my time even if I had the capacity yesterday to do better. I shouldn't have stopped yesterday on my wife's advice and continued. Ah these women !!!🤣🤣🤣
Now I'm going to focus on Laguna Seca and try to get the gold medal (and improve my time 1'31'728) which is not that far away, hoping that the women don't come and bother me (to be polite 🤣🤣)

Been around since GT1, always able to gold all the licenses, and races, but this GT7 is a different animal, as well as these TT's. I'm able to get silver most of the time, but gold is just beyond me. I wonder if there is some trick I'm missing? I'm just renting an event specific car, and doing 15 laps (any more feels like work). I'm still on a controller though, and use the buttons, not the triggers, so I'm sure that costs me. Still, these seem incredibly hard.

There is your problem, 15 laps and your done and expecting to be within 3% of the world's fastest GT7 simracers.....
A lot of us do 150 miles or more a DAY/session to get that tenth.....

So the trick?...... do more laps 😁🤣

If you are talking about using the throttle and brake with the buttons then that is going to be a major hindrance. The buttons are digital not analog like the triggers. Think of it as if you were driving a real car and the only thing you could do is fully mash down to the floor the brake and throttle pedals....no gradual application of either.

Could you drive a real car like that because that is basically what you are doing here. With the triggers you can at least had much finer control of brake and throttle application. I'd suggest you start practicing that.

I've gotten gold on a couple and I also have played since the beginning and usually can gold most everything. Gt7 for me has def been the hardest to figure out. I love time trials but I have a hard time with gold for them all. I've gotten a few but not like the rest of the aliens here. Don't forget this is a collection of the nerdiest hardcore players in the world (mad respect meant by that comment) a lot of times that post in here. Bronze is respectable in the real world where most people don't have the time to invest to take you to the next level. Cool thing is, none of it matters. I have a blast running the wheels off just for bronze most of the time. That's mostly the point for me. Not the medals.

Also. Controllers can be fast. Mr Drago will attest.

Back in the day, when the game was more fun, I didn't mind doing tracks in hours, not laps, but that day is long gone. So I agree with you; more work = a better result, but GT for me isn't about work, so I limit my laps.

Yes, that's exactly it, I need to get better with the triggers. I also realize the entire game has been geared towards using a wheel, which only hurts. I know there are aliens that can still get gold with the D-Pad, but overall the game is geared toward buying a wheel.

I've gotten gold on a couple as well, and get silver probably 80% of the time, but usually settle for bronze if I don't like the car + track combo. It makes it more fun for me to just let it go. It does hurt to post up a great silver time only to come back and see it has been downgraded to bronze, but it is what it is. Thanks for your thoughts dude.

100%.....but I've only ever played GT (since v1) on controller. I'm A/S rating but I'd definitely not consider myself even close to alien levels but I have scored gold on the majority of the TT's in GT7 so far so it can definitely be done.

I did play several GT's before 7 but the online timetials on 7 are something different, I agree that it cost a lot more time to be at the level for the top split, I'm somewhere in the middel I think on Dualsens, and for some I need hard work, and if I do not practice, it ain't going to be pretty 🤣.
In the early days I had to compete with the AI, now I have to compete to the fastest guys in the world, and I learn a lot from them, but I can certainly understand that time is limited for some people, and then the bar is very high indeed!

For me these days I think the game is more fun due to the competition, but it comes with a cost indeed....time
And time trials is all that I do due to clearing the game 100% a while ago, but driving the same lap oven and over again for a better result is somehow nuts, but I still like it 🤣

But you should still be able to have some good results with the way you use the PAD, there were more people on X an Square If I remember correct!

But most important with a game is having fun, do what ever makes you happy 😁

Good luck 😁👍

While the wheel does allow for smoother, more detail and consistent input, it is also very unforgiving. Many slides that can be easily caught with a controller is a total spin out with the wheel. I spent a good month or more after getting the wheel just to catch up to the time I used to be able to do with the controller.

I was the same with GT7, I couldn't get to grips with the wheel even though I used it on all other racing sims/games and previous GTs, it was so different to GT Sport to start with, especially the slides (as you said) are harder to catch on a wheel

Have a look at my post here

When not using the wheel I use motion steering with back buttons, the motion steering is a good first step to the smoother (and more natural feeling) cornering in my opinion.

Hope that may help you get back on track (pun not intended 😂).

Several hours of dealing with a mental block later and I finally got the time I should've got yesterday. High .7 is doable but that would be too insane for me

While I don't appreciate you moving the time up making it harder for the rest of us, I do appreciate an American at the top of the leaderboard. That is often a rarity on the global rankings. Considering the size of the country we seem to be under represented in good drivers compared to some other nations. 👍

My UK account is now out of gold :irked:
My US account is still (just) in gold (for now).
