I like these road car TTs. This one seems not to be too difficult, because there are a lot of different lines to choose (or which the car chooses by itself at times) which are equally quick. And the shortshifting, as counter-intuitive it may feel, is very much the key. Most TTs I'm just around the 3% mark, sometimes above, sometimes below; but here I'm at under 1.7% at the moment, with a 1:48:4 and still some potential to improve, which really surprised me. I've even been at the top of my friends list for a couple of hours, before the empire struck back (Hi @Nebuc72 😆).
At least this time I don't have to anxiously check the standings again until it ends.🥳

Hahaha, you and me both on liking the road car TTs. They require a completely different skillset to be properly fast in, and getting your head around how they have to be driven is immensely satisfying.

I got my wheel set up on PC again a few days ago after about a 2 year absence, so my TT laps have literally been to do the daily workout and dip, which is why its been creeping down ever so slightly as the days go by. I can likely get it into the 47s with an hour or twos dedication, as you say - gearing really is the key to a good time here.

Interesting thing about predicting gold time, my girlfriend and I made a bet on previous TT, and this time I gave my predicted 3% to 1:49:5**... We will know in 12 days, right. I wonder if @half_sourly can predict more precisely considering statistics he collect 🤔
You'd need more data than I have now to make any sort of prediction. Other than the odd midweek stats I don't have any interim stats.

I reckon just put your best lap in over the 2 weeks and where you land is where you land.

Because the aliens are a species all to themselves I also measure my gap to 100th place because I think that gives me a more accurate estimate of performance/improvement over time.

So,i'm finally back in gold territory.
After the first 5 TT's i was sitting with 2 Gold and 3 Silver,thinking if i can gold #6 i'll be quite happy with that,well i didn't gold 6,7 or 8(3 silvers),missed 9 & 10(shakes fist at hurricane Fiona).
Ran a 1:49.750 this morning,.118 to spare, not sure if it will hold but gold for now.

Update: Gold times just dropped .033...,.085 to spare

Smart! I might start doing something similar, not gap to 100th since I usually end up between 5000 and 20 000 so that's too far for me, maybe to some position I might hope to reach in some reasonable time.

Yes, that's the fun part for me, too. And every car is somewhat unique, drives and feels differently and is interesting to figure out. So there are lots of opportunities for PD to set up interesting car/track combinations. Hopefully they'll get that right at least.

After 6 laps and 4 restarts, I'm quite shocked!! Will pursue my 3rd Gold this time around me thinks. Thanks to @Mistah_MCA for guide

Finally got round to collecting my reward for the last TT and giving this one a go. Used a rental and it took me a few laps to get the hang of the handling, and eventually posted a 1:50.500! Fairly happy with that as a starting point, not too far off gold!! I can see myself putting in a bit of time on this one...

Personally, I think it’s a bit baffling why we’re at Interlagos again so soon. Personally, given that we’re specifically tasked with driving a variant of the R34 that’s named for the Nurburgring, I think it would’ve been much more appropriate to drive this car around the Nordschliefe. But then again, we were just at the GP course.

Second serious session for Interlagos.
Did a alot more laps to realy get the feeling of the power delivery of the GTR, was already save in the gold zone but with not such a good lap for my feeling.
Now slowly getting to know the GTR and learning to appreciate it.

Down to 1.48.444 now at 1.70% of the Big boys 🤣 on DS4 😁

Popped up into the top 500 (for now) with a 1:48.170. I know I lost some time at turn 10 as I didn't take it far enough into there.

And for anyone wondering, I play with the PS4 DualShock. Old school X and Square for gas and brake, too. :D

I would LOVE to play with a wheel, but a disability prevents me from doing so.

Still 1:48:4, and I'm Team DualShock. Age-old controller on my daughter's age-old PS4 console. 😜

So glad I'm not alone here 🤣 nice time 😁

That is impressive on X and 🔲
I used to do 2, but for GT7 I switched to the triggers.
Nice to see that you are VERY competitive without triggers, that's a damn good time!

Thanks! I tried switching to the triggers in GT Sport, but I just couldn't get used to them. I've been using X and 🔲 since I was a kid, so that's what I'm comfortable with. And believe it or not, I used to turn using the D-pad up through GT6. I was able to make the move to the stick after a bit of practice. As mentioned earlier in the thread, I've started using manual in some situations, as well. Much smoother cornering.

Basically I am very stubborn and stuck in my old ways in many aspects. While I've been able to make a few changes to improve my playability, some habits die hard!
