Strange, that did the trick for me, with HDR it was always washed out, only solution was to transfer to PC, edit in some video editing program and then upload, ain't nobody got time for that. I upload directly from PS5 to YT and then just edit the thumbnail and small details and off I go. And in that case, no HDR was always the better option, all videos looked normal, like I see it on the TV.

Recording issues could be a wide variety of things. But recording gameplay with the share button will inheritenly be compressed because otherwise you'd use all your space on the playstation so so fast so the quality is automatically reduced. If you then put it into video software and then you compress it there again that's a double compression essentially (Or at least that's my understanding) and then you'll lose more quality. Youtube then adds its compression and the end result is even more quality lost.

I record directly to a capture card at 50,000 bit rate (I used to do 100,000 but it's not a 1:1 correlation for quality and finding what works best is difficult). My raw files are massive (A 6 hour stream is normally between 150 - 200gb)). My compression in video editing is very high as well (I don't have it to hand) and that gives the best chance to Youtube with their compression.

I can only imagine the HDR option is an issue because of the data stored so turning it off reduces the size of the file (Potentially) so then the compression isn't as much impacted.

Sorry it's slightly off topic but thought I'd answer the video issue.

Just did that (turn off HDR, launch replay, record it and shared it) and it is the same :
With HDR :

Without HDR :

Turned off HDR from PS5 settings.

And video copied on USB key and opened on PC is ok.

And of course display on TV is worse without HDR.

Happy that it is not the cause, would be annoying to have to turn off HDR each time.

Can it be that you have in settings changed "exposure" or what is the real name when you can boost lightness if you are sitting in very bright room and screen is dark so you boost exposure ? that is somehow recoreded in replays too.

I did not change anything. Only HDR is active, and it does not seem to change the result.

And the video is fine on the computer if I save it to USB key. The veil shows up after it has been uploaded to Youtube, same way as it shows up when shared directly from PS5. 🤔

I've seen the same thing on my videos, so far the best solution I found was here, but it still does not look as good as on a PS5.

Perhaps the cow is too white?

Seriously though, there's nothing too wrong with this lap. Overall you seem to be very kind to the car, be more aggressive and the tenths will fall away. Put your foot down earlier and harder and let the 4WD get the cow rotating.

Assume you are using auto gears? Manual would gain plenty of time too, for example turn two is best in 1st.

🐄✨

🤔you are probably right !

I often go too wide if I step on the gas pedal too soon, so I remain cautious, despite it being a manageable 4WD

Indeed. I know I have time to gain but my brain won't MT on a pad. And I am sure there are plenty of much better lap times in AT. So it could help me but I got to find other ways. Thanks for yout input.

@Tidgney : thanks for the off-topic, I was hoping that someone who uploads content like you would chime in. I don't use video software. HDR or not does not seem to change the result.
I've seen the same thing on my videos, so far the best solution I found was here, but it still does not look as good as on a PS5.
That means copying on USB + touching the video with a software on the PC before uploading 😑not very convenient. Thanks for the solution.

If one day I find an easy solution I'll let you know.

[Edit]Tried to upload an extract from @Tidgney's video that I previously downloaded to do video comparison. Uploads like a charm, no veil in the end.

[Edit]Tried @peniu's method to see if it improves my video. First try on the veiled version of my video -> no change. Testing on the original file copied on USB key, that renders without veil on PC video player.

[Edit] I also asked ChatGPT and it gave a very comprehensive answer with many leads to explore... WIP

My replay is uploaded with the ASM reveal, to give the boys a head start

I complemented the ASM with a glass of default ABS🥂

Through my researchs to get rid of this white veil, I found a very interesting software to do video comparison which could be helpful for our community. Maybe some of you know it already : https://www.kinovea.org/

It is used to analyze sport videos among other things.

You can load 2 videos side by side, define an origin of time on both, very precisely by slowing the video as much as you want and then play them in sync, with the speed you want from 0% to 200%, pause when you want and so on.

You can play them, even frame by frame, and reset the origin where you want (so the video used as a reference does not take too much advance...)

Supra convenient !

You can even draw skeleton of the person on the video for detailed analysis of movement, but in our case it is not necessary. But maybe there are advanced functions that could be helpful for our replays. Not tested enough yet.

(and with my screencap you see clearly the white veil that annoys me 😁 )

So i was done with it, then tried again with CSA and found some time....., now i have to go back again with ASM
24.1 is no joke mate nice work, thanks for the ghost, we appriciate it, i hope this one sticks for you!

I won't tell you which one is my video after using Handbrake to correct colourspace... it is visible but far from being as good as Tidgney's videos.

[Edit 2]New test with the guidance of ChatGPT :

The difference is clearer, but I am far from Tidgney's video crystal clear quality

@Lomic now I finally understand why you're struggling so much with the Gr.4 TT.

That's definitely because of the Automatic Transmission, and from the pictures you've been posting I can tell you're also using Traction Control, right ?

Well... those choices almost certainly are preventing you from reaching a better lap time.
Don't know if you already gave up on that TT, but if you still want to try a bit more, turning off TCS would be my suggestion.

Using manual transmission would help you tremendously, but only if you're feeling comfortable using it, which doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately.

That's a video that is a week old I think, I forgot to save my best recent lap. My last stints, CSA was set to weak, and ABS default, no other assists. And last stint this morning CSA off (but I will put it back), ABS weak.

But still in AT, my brain can't MT on controller.

Ok.
Still, it amazes me how you've made it this far with Automatic Transmission, seriously! Being this close to Gold with AT is not for everyone, I doubt if I could do it!

I used to be an AT driver for a long time...

But these days I only play with manual transmission, like 99% of the time.

Totally agree. Traction control definitely slows you down, except in rare instances when a car simply has too much torque and the TC helps. It's definitely worth the time investment to get used to running with TC 0 under most circumstances if you're chasing fast lap times. Also agree on the AT vs MT. It's more pronounced with some car/track combos than others, but like TC, using MT and shifting at the right point can make the tenths of seconds differences that are needed when chasing fast times.

After taking break from GT7, this evening I tried Lago Maggiore TT and got the silver in one hour.

Here is direct capture:

BTW, today I bought Portal and tried GT7 and it wasn't bad at all...
I see that I will need some thumb grips for analogs, like I have on Dualsenses.

Last 20 laps stint, and I managed to improve a good bit ! Yes !

Still hard to do a lap with all the best sectors but at least I improved and my gold is safe !

Medium is even better than not so older best lap times so...

Optimal went down a bit too.

Only one sector improved compared to my best sectors overall, but I managed to link some medium sectors. Best lap has only 1 good S1.

5 laps with better times that previous best (not counting the reds).

TT-LM-Gr4-20laps-12-Huracan.png

Went from being +22k to +10k I was hoping to reach the 10k but not quite.

With 135 laps it is by far the TT on which I spent the most time.

And of course I forgot to save the replay, but it does not matter much as I don't plan to analyze it or ask for advices. Too late now.

Hoping for something more enjoyable than Goodwood tomorrow.

Yes! Hell yeah to you! 🥳

Finally, after about 15 laps, I clocked a time of 2'09.331. So I have a safe silver. However I might push even more at Maggiore. I used the meta car which is the Huracan. Red is my choice of color. I am trying to record my lap but this new layout is confusing. I can only take a screenshot of my best lap and send it to my friends profile page. I found a shortcut for accessing the Internet on my ps5.
