I think the focus will be fun, I'm actually quite "meh" about spa in Gr3 as it's has featured heavily in dailies recently.

Yep, me too.
I'm totally "focusing" on the Focus and the NSX... because Gr.3 at Spa isn't really earth-shattering anymore, and besides we already had a TT just like that a few months ago... it's getting a little overused IMO.

Sure I'll be participating in every single one of them, but when it comes to Time Trials I very much prefer driving road cars over racing machines.

(thou I'm still waiting for a TT with the recently added Mercedes... 👀)

About the white veil on the videos shared to Youtube, with a big help from @BWX and @Chris30's ingenuity, I found a way to upload faithful image quality videos via the share function.

BUT...

you need to put those video settings :

• HDR off
• Deep colour off
• RGB space limited
• Resolution 1080p

And this settings for video capture :

• 1080p
• MP4 format

Then record your replay.

And now when shared on Youtube, they won't have the white veil.

We'll keep looking how to upload in 4K (HDR if possible), but that's a way to do it without resorting to capture card or video editing/enconding on PC before uploading to Youtube.

Sorry to ask if that was already mentioned, but these settings I should have them for playing GT7 or should I have them this way only when recording the replays?

If so, then it's a case of switching those settings back and forth every time I decide to record and share something?

Edit: For context, that's my Red Bull Jr lap at Barcelona, gameplay and recording were done with HDR off.


This Viper lap at Autopolis is somehow weird to me. It seems to be too bright and too colorful, kind of with a white veil like @Lomic mentioned. Maybe it is the HDR thing?

I was doing some testing today, driving on the TV for the first time in ... I don't know, 5-6 months maybe? Since I got the VR2 it was exclusively VR2 driving, not a single lap was completed I think on the telly. But since I got the new GT3 wheel, I just wanted to admire it while driving

And out of pure boredom I fired up the Junior TT which I really really didn't want to do, I cannot digest a single corner of this Catalunya layout

And about 200km later, we got somewhere

It was a refreshing experience driving in 2D Many many apexes were missed by a mile at the beginning, but I got the hang of it in the end. Looking at the sector times, I believe a 1:44.700 is doable, it all depends on the atrociuos chicane and the random bouncing, if it lands correctly, then it's doable, if it doesn't, and it usually doesn't, then no... We'll see, I may give this one more session and I'm done, won't be competing for high places here for sure.

My goal at the start of my session last night was to get in to the 45's and I did just that. My middle sector wasn't great but who cares? It's the number at the end that matters.

I don't even have HDR turned on. It looks like crap to me.

@skydragon49 : you can switch back and forth, you only need to be in those "default" settings while recording your replay.

@BWX yes I think I'll try other tests to see if better results with less hassle can be obtained

• MP4 format

Turns out you only need to set the video capture settings to achieve this result. You can let all other video settings as is (4K + HDR and so on).

One test left to do : limit to MP4 but let resolution to 4K and I'll have done every test.

[Edit]ok, just tested, you can't select MP4 for the format if you choose 4K for the resolution in video capture settings

I have a feeling I'm gonna have a long struggle during this TT at Goodwood. I've dealt with the face buttons for over 2 decades. And that applies to any racing game, (Dirt, NFS, Midnight Club, Gran Turismo, etc.) I gotta think of a master plan. The corners keep taking advantage of me, I'll brake too early and lose speed/time. Sigh, well I'll just have to keep doing it by trial and error. The braking markers are a great tool for letting me know when to start braking. I dread that death chicane at the end everytime, because when I'm driving a fast lap, I'm like, "Is it going to destroy my good lap?"

I've always used X and square for gas and brake and always used manual shift with R1/ L1 for my entire life, since OG PS1 GT1. And similar on other platforms way before PlayStation existed. I was really good at manual shift like that with a controller. PS2 with analog buttons was really cool. I made the switch to analog gas / brake but could never get as fast using manual shift on face buttons. I can do it, but can't be as precise with steering and throttle/ brake. But I'm still way faster with auto trans. and analog brake and gas. You should definitely switch over to analog brake/ gas even if you have to use auto gears at first.

Try cranking up your rumble to max 150 in the settings.. And another thing you're missing out on is the FFB analog levers. FFB on brake and FFB on throttle.. and it's adjustable. I use weak on throttle and strong FFB on brake. The vibes and "FFB" on these controllers with GT7 is really very good. You'll be way faster with analog throttle/ brake for sure.

I really haven't been able to get much time online lately so a bit behind on the TTs.

Yesterday the Megane was calling me, erm, what can I say, it was way too easy to gold... Just 1 lap did it

I did give it a bit longer to try to improve, which I did but not by much.

The car feels so wobbly, unstable, too sharp and just annoying on motion steering so I gave in shortly after. I know there is so much time to gain and my optimal shows it but I'm not going to return to this.

So I've finally found some time to take some screenshots and post them here, so let's get down to business:

Nice challenge, this one.
Had to fight for this Gold, and I know I could have improved my time a little more but I just couldn't bother much... felt like this was already safe enough for the shiny medal and moved on.

And what's better than a Gold medal?
2 Gold Medals, of course!

Took me long enough to find my "groove" again with the Megane... 220 km (on a very tiny track)!
Tried ASM, and both CSA Weak and Strong, and turns out CSA Weak works best (for me, that is).
It takes some finesse to drive this thing properly and be fast with it, but eventually I improved my previous PB by nearly 0.6 tenths, and let's face it, finding 0.6 tenths on such a tiny track isn't easy.

I get the feeling there's still some more tenths in there, but I don't know if I want to mess around with it again... it all depends on how much free time I have until next Thursday, and I'm yet to take on the Catalunya TT with the Junior so... we'll see.

Still, I can't help to feel amazed with my position on the leaderboards: 4054?! That's nearly 10,000 places higher than where I'm used to be!

Unfortunately i'm more than unhappy with my time, because i did it with a .666 S2... my best so far was a .495. 🥺
But i never get that 🤬 S3 right when i see a good S2 split. 🥲🥲🥲

Ok, so my intention this morning was only to send the Megane screenshots then switch off the PS4... we all know that doesn't happen.

So to start, yesterday I trapped my nerve in my back (I suffer this quite a lot, and takes a few days to sort itself out), I didn't have my glasses on or contacts in so everything was a blur, then the kitten decided to curl up on my knee, so the challenges would be... Not much movement due to back, struggle not to whack the kitten motion steering and do a TT blind....

I actually quite like this Redbull and will try again with my eyes in next time 🤓

Lap 1, not being able to read brake markers was a challenge in itself as I didn't realise the hairpin had a 50m board and thought it was the 100m so that was fun 🤣 had to reverse back to it to make out what it was for the next lap.

When I got myself in gold I realised two things, 1) I hadn't done my daily mileage and more importantly... 2) I could see some form of white French blur above my yellow flashing blurred name...

This meant the target was in my sights for todays challenge... well not exactly in my sight, it was there just blurred 🤣

So I went again...

That looks better (enjoy @Pesselles 😉)

If a blind man can do it, with a trapped nerve and avoiding hitting a kitten every 2 seconds, then you can all gold this.

As the famous French man would say ATTACK!!!!

I tried one session with ASM... got me a 1:24,473 😂😂😂 but S1 was only a .784 for this lap. 🤪
So a 1:24,2xx is possible with or without ASM, but i feel more comfortable without ASM.

Cool bit of info, I didn't realize that about the FFB analog levers. I'll have to adjust it to my liking. I'll try this out and let you know how it goes, it might take a few days to get used to, but I have to do something different for better lap times. What games did you play before the Playstation came out, I know that there was a Nintendo Hot Wheels racing game that I played years ago, in the late '90's. I will try the MT too and see if it helps. My stepdad didn't help me a lot with this stuff back then when we had the ps1 and ps2.

They are all Hards. RH for the 2 Gr3 events and SH for the road cars (NSX & Focus)

I was just looking at some of the previous TTs on Digits site, and I can really be happy about some of them, when I like the driving sensation, I will push myself with more than one session, and it usually ends up in the top 30-50

And the thing I can be most proud of, it's not only Gr cars, there were slidey road cars, electric cars etc.

Sorry for the self-promotion post I didn't even realise there were so many good results until I started scrolling...

Come to think of it, didn't we already have an Online Time Trial that specifically featured Gr.3 @ Spa-Francorchamps? Furthermore, I recall doing well with the Renault RS01 GT3. I do understand why they featured the same combination for Daily Race C earlier this month, since the GTWS Grand Finals were going on.

He keeps up with all the TT's and tables/data which he gets by everyone's final lap. I thought we had a couple Group 3 challenge for Spa too? Back in the Spring of this year.

I played all of the racing games on all consoles LOL. Not really but it feels like it. I've been at this since the 70's (I'm getting old). Atari, Nintendo, Sega, etc. Can't remember which ones had manual shift on shoulder buttons. Maybe the first was GT1 actually. But yeah you have to try the analog throttle and brake for sure. I can't imagine it'll slow you down for long. Once you get used to it, you'll be so much smoother and quicker.

Spent a bit of time running the Megane but struggled to get near my prior PB. Tried something different this morning and switched from my normal hood cam to bumper cam - I ran bumper cam for years but started using hood cam for daily races for a better FOV and it just stuck. I found it easier to judge the chicane on bumper than hood and after 30 miles this morning found another tenth to be about as high as I ever have been on one of these TT at this stage of the event. Using ABS weak and no ASM/CSA (as usual). I don’t see me going any quicker than this.

Haven’t tried the new event yet - quite like the car but I just can’t get excited about Barcelona, particularly with the chicane
