Yeah, I know. Maybe I should give it more time. Does anyone know of any Youtube users that might explain the details of this technique with the triggers? Because I may need to watch and keep studying those guides in order to adapt and gain more confidence during the harder TT's. I know gold is doable for many participants, but it's not a sprint earning that medal.
Other people will not make you faster. Their advice will. Everything you need has been covered ad nauseum in this thread for literal years. The next step is yours. If you want it, get it. The frustration you feel is mostly because you are used to doing it the way you do it and you are unwilling to change. We cannot and unfortunately I personally will not continue to give advice that you don't listen to.

You are up Chris, it's your turn.

2 -3? That's pretty low...have you tried higher? I find anything much less than 5 or 6 pretty sloppy feeling. 7 is about perfect I find...
2 or 3 ???? but it's really very low even 7 that @ZevZoq suggests !!!! I'm at 10 !!!!

Yep, I know
Don't know why but when I'm driving road cars I always tend to use lower numbers on the Steering Sensitivity.
I get the feeling it helps with the overall stability of the car through corners, instead of pumping up the sensitivity and inducing understeer because my steering inputs would be more "dramatic" and cause the front tyres to loose traction.

It's just the way I feel it, but it might just be placebo. Sometimes I feel like I can go from 1 to 10 and still don't feel much of a difference...

The Focus/Atlanta combo? I went all the way back to 1 and still scored a Gold (although my final PB was with 2 or 3 I guess).

With the Ferrari is the same thing, it's all a matter of timing my turn in at the right time.

I've found a wheel easier to adjust to, it's been hard to but getting there, the triggers are really weird to me, feels so tricky.
The triggers are sensitive, but that's a good thing. Once you get used to them you can really nicely modulate the inputs.

One little trick for the analog stick steering is to rotate the stick around the upper circumference of it's range rather than just moving it side to side along the X axis. In other words, when you're driving along a straight you're always pushing the stick forward and then when you want to turn you just slide the stick along that upper edge left or right. In essence this gives you a slightly longer X axis - not really, but it feels like it and you are able to make slightly more subtle adjustments. Don't press hard of course...but just roll lightly around the upper circumference. Again takes a bit of getting used to but I find it really works well.

Sometimes I end up doing this, mostly on low-speed corners when I'm trying to steer and accelerate at the same time, or when driving a "twitchy" tail-happy car 👍

Some of you guys actually like the way the Ferrari in this TT drives? I find the car awful. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am stuck at about 7/10ths from gold and can't seem to improve. I'm on a wheel if it makes a difference. F1 Podium and load cell pedals.

I find if I just move the stick left and right I end up steering in a very "digital" way even though it's analog. I tend to bump the stick left and right rather than holding it in a given position and smoothly cornering. Using that upper edge as a guide seems to make it a lot easier for me to be much more smooth and consistent with the steering.

Went online for a little bit this morning and got bored pretty quickly, I've never liked Daytona so wasn't much fun for me.

Should have tried the Testarossa at Brands Hatch first, I might have stayed online a bit longer then 🤦🏻‍♂️

Took the AMG back out for a run and got gold but not safe...
1000017002.jpg
1000017003.jpg

Then jumped in the meta just to be safe so I could leave it, only took 2 laps to improve by more than 0.5 seconds and then multiple others with no more improvement

At the moment I'm very busy both at work and at home, so I'm a bit behind with the TT challenges.
I didn't really have much desire for Daytona beforehand, but I have to say I had more fun than expected.
The Viper really isn't easy to control and it's hard to perfect the traction out of the corners but it's very rewarding when you do.

At the end of my short one hour stint I clocked a 1:44.249.
I think a 1:43.xxx is possible, but only if I push it to the limit and unfortunately I don't have the time.

Hi,

@Chris30...

Dear Chris,

Have a look around these forums. This one especially!!!

Pretty much everyone comes here for 2 reasons. To learn and to share what they have learned. A public and open space for learning and sharing.

I have watched you for months and months and months. You come here, to this forum. Ask for help and then, just simply, ignore the help, guidance and advice given to you. I have tried to help you, as have dozens of others. I have not messaged you directly. I know many others have. They, like me, have tried to help you improve and learn. All to no avail because you just seem to ignore the guidance offered.

Despite what you may think, there is a huge amount of affection for you here. Some of your posts are, quite frankly, brilliant!!! That said, you are well on your way to alienating yourself from those who try to assist you. Earlier today - A well known and highly respected community member has declared himself "out" of trying to help you.

I have to say to you the following....

You will NEVER improve your skill set unless you actually listen to and act on the advice offered here. Advice from people who are vastly more skilled than you - or me!!! - will ever be.

Continuing to ignore the help from all of us is only going to result in, probably, three things.... You losing your temper and posting something inappropriate and getting banned. Banned from a place that you, clearly, enjoy visiting! That would be a bad thing in every way!

For everyone's sake Chris - Please try. Please listen. Please learn. I know you can! So does everyone else here!

Best regards Chris and a rather belated "Happy new year"

Ian.

I did like it, just got gold today i'm at around 2.4%, nothing to call home about but good enough. Probably you already know everything that I can tell you, faster drivers here can give you a better advice.

As all or most road cars it's important to not overdrive it, let it flow during corners, make sure you are not accelerating or still breaking at the apex, let it rotate freely with a good trail braking. Just breaking the minimum amount to keep the maximum momentum through cornering. Also using the whole track of course.

When i'm stuck in a TT what i do is create a custom race with that combo against AI to get used to the car, as many laps as you can, the more the better.

Also lose yourself, make mistakes, make the car slide, get the feeling for it. TT makes us focus too much on the perfect execution but we need to make mistakes to learn.

Guys,

it is done!

It took a three hour session - something I never do because it‘s usually fruitless - but I knew I had the sector times to secure a top 100, it was just a stochastical problem to put them all together.

How it finally happened was still surprising. S1 split was a 28.644, more than two tenths slower than my best ones. Mentally I had already written off the lap, but then I picked up some time in S2 and S3 and finished it off with probably the best bus stop sequence of all my attempts.

Now my hands are cramping and I am totally exhausted, but the good kind. 🤣 Leaving for a business trip tomorrow and won‘t return before the TT is over, so if I do get shoved out of top 100 again, then there‘s nothing I can do about it. But I am at peace with that, I gave everything I have.

Have a great week folks, and happy lapping!

Incredible effort. Your rate of improvement continues to astound and inspire me.

I still remember when I transitioned from the face buttons to the triggers for braking and acceleration. I think it was back in the GT5 days where I took a Shelby Cobra out to Laguna Seca to specifically practice throttle and braking control with the triggers. I remember slowly bringing in the power on the exit of the Andretti hairpin to negate the wheelspin. I don't recall having a huge amount of trouble adapting to the triggers; it just felt like a natural step up from what I was doing before. I knew how to do it because I always paid attention to what Supercar drivers did with the throttle, particularly on corner exit. Mind you I was probably 10 or 11 years old when I worked this out. As for GT7, I turned off the adaptive triggers because it was more of a hindrance then a help. That's my advice to you @Chris30 and anyone else who may be struggling.

Don't you guys have needy wives and kids? Who does a 4 hr session? Jealous .
Have neither of those*, but I could not do a 4 hours session, and on TTs 20 laps is my max and it can be much lower depending on the combo.

*although my son is in a PS5/GT7 phase and I don't want to deter him, which result in fewer times slot for me, but I am happy with that

Three 😉 And the family tend to be less needy after 10 pm 😉 … but yeah, as I said generally I don‘t do that and wouldn‘t recommend it either, it‘s tough to maintain focus. I also had a few breaks in-between to reset, so net playtime was maybe closer to two hours. Still having sore muscles the next morning 😄

What’s the definition of madness?

Spending 3-1/2 hours at Brands with the Ferrari and seeing no gain on time?

Perhaps finding you’ve spent 2 hours on worn engine oil so you change it and go back only to find your even slower around the track? Having a series of terrible laps and then find your on a hot lap only to bin it at the next corner? Rince and repeat.

My car after my typical lap.

It’s probably a good thing that I’m taking a trip and will be away from this for a few days. 🤦‍♂️

My family is mostly independent and my wife goes to bed at 9 but I’m a night owl. 9pm to 1am is common.

New stint at Daytona, after a week-end of from TT.

Got back into gold zone, a bit slower than my miracle lap but happy to re-iterate my "feat" (getting gold).

Not too much to write home about, as always, inconsistency plagues me, if I do something good (like a good T1 for once) I'll butcher some part later where I use to do a good time, and bus-stop is still russian roulette, so even when a miracle happens and I don't faq one or many turns before, I am still able to lose 1s there.

Best medium so far.
Tiny improvement in S4.

I'd like to improve my best lap enough to get back into top 10k...

Morning all,

No miracles this weekend, i did had some time during the weekend but no real drive to hunt for time.... little burnd-out TT-wise.
Did runs some laps this morning before work though.
Threw aways some real promising S1's and a bunch of left tire in the dirt stuffing up upcomming straight, so there should be more but i don't know if i'm hammering this one....., maby a few days TT-rest....

Did made a tiny improvement.. from .168 i believe..

Jup, quite balanced and predictable if you ask me, but it needs a certain way of driving and realy needs to have that throttle to get some weight on the rear wheels :)

it is done!

That's epic buddy,

Congrats!, that will hold if you ask me!
Haauuulliiinngg with them big boys 😁😁😄😄
I haven't got the motivation to return, maby...... if we will get F3500-A time trial thursday i will return, cause I ain't toutching that 😄😄

Been doing Nations the past week but got a fancy new chair this weekend so did the Brands TT to test old vs new...

IMG_9713.jpeg

First session on the old wobbly deckchair I managed to clock a 36.9. Then a quick pit stop...

IMG_9716.jpeg

And the new kit delivered an incredible... 37.0, a tenth slower. Well, it's early days and I need some adjustments to the seating position... [insert more excuses here]

If anyone would like a free Playseat Challenge you are welcome to it... it's fast and the wobbling adds to the immersion... 🫨

Hmmm, I wish I'd started on Daytona sooner. My first lap tonight was within about half a second of gold, when I'm usually a couple of seconds off and working my way down. It still took me a while to get there, but I ended up at 1:45.891 after about 100km. I usually find I do a bit better with mid-engined Gr.3 cars, but I'm not sure I'd beat my time with the Viper.

Trophy is amazing, you will be very happy with it, and I hope you take your time adjusting so I can beat you in couple of TTs :D
The funny thing is I bought a Trophy over a year ago and tried to use it in a room with a harder floor and the vibrations through the tubing were so noisy I sent it back. Now on soft carpet so it's better...

Don't know if I'm going back to Daytona, the last lap I did there was my best one, the Testarossa seems more fun...

Switching from default to "limited" (I'm drawing a blank on what they call it on screen) ABS made the car much more drivable for me, still around 5/10ths off of gold at Brands yet though.
