Short run this morning on the Time Trials and finally secured my target time of 1:24.1 at Monza. Yes I'd love to get into the 23s but in no world were my optimal splits getting me there. Note that this is TCS1, ABS weak, and CSA Strong. As I mentioned previously, this is my first try with CSA and with this car I found it worth around 0.5s and enabled me to be more consistent and build up to lap time.

Did 20 miles in the Ironiq5 to secure gold. Won't be trying it again. The braking and understeer modeling with this car and the 1.55 patch make it unrealistic (yes, I've driven a real one) and not that enjoyable in my opinion.

Just a quick disclaimer if any of you guys are wondering where I've been during the past few days: I'm taking a break from GT7 (and any Time Trials of course).

I've been playing this game for well over a year now, and it feels like it's time for a break... even though I'm definitely not a daily player, the vast majority of my play time is found during the weekends, and it rarely exceeds 2-3 hours.

I'm quite pleased with my personal improvement on the Time Trials lately, and this very thread and every single one of you guys contributed immensely to it, but I feel like I should give it a rest for now, play something completely different... as I still have a lot of other games sitting on the shelves, just waiting to be played.

Can't really say for how long I'll be away, might be a month, might be 2... but one thing I know: I have plans to come back and do some more Time Trials with you guys, it just won't be anytime soon.
I might keep on following this thread and the GTP Forums as a whole, though.

However, I might just fire up the game again soon... just to collect my birthday gift as I'm about to turn 33 in a couple of weeks!

So that's it, before I head out into the sunset (lol) I'd like to thank all of you guys that make this TT community such a nice place, keep on chasing those aliens (or becoming aliens) and wish you all the best!

KEEP RACING!!
:gtpflag:

Why are so many people calling it a day this week, is holding the overtake button down really that bad!?

All the best, it’s a shame when valued community members leave but that’s life and hopefully yourself and @Vule regret your decisions quickly and return to us before too long

Haha, I don't even know what that button is... and something tells me that's a good thing

Thanks, and don't worry: my decision to "leave" is only temporary, just so I can (hopefully) come back even stronger and better.

In the meantime, enjoy yourselves guys!

Just my opinion, which is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Most people are busy, too busy to put up with people who don't care about them after they have extracted as much money from them as they can.

It is the opinion of a lot of folks that PD simply does not care about them, their perceptions or ideas. PD is aware of the community here. They have shown that they have no desire to interact.
They apparently don't care about vendors either. All you have to do is look at how many times they have screwed over Logitech (or read the thread about TrueForce).
They have no desire to publicly state anything about their product, lest they would be liable to be responsible for meeting those statements.
I suspect they learned that from Sony, to say the minimum, lest someone hold you accountable.

If possible, Sony is worse. One only needs to look at their reaction to this weekend.
I can understand Sony wanting to validate a person's legal ability to run a program purchased through Sony.
Sony is not interested in doing it in a reasonable manner. It simply isn't that hard when you have the ecosystem from top to bottom to use expiring tokens to validate (3 days, 5 days, a week?) so as not to force a login every time an application is run. They are forcing everything to be online and are fully aware that things break, that connectivity cannot be guaranteed all the time. Not everything is multi-player. So what if a game is used for a period of a week without being legal? In the event a console is stolen, it may actually be useful to law enforcement, or maybe the person would actually like the game and buy it.

Some people don't mind being used, others weigh ups and downs, then choose priorities.

YMMV,
Ken

well, we can balance the good with the bad. Does PD worry at all about communicating with the community? Nope, not really. It sucks that the game is dead if the network goes down. Frustrating. But, I've been playing the game for over a year and I think the network has only been down maybe 2 times for probably less than 48 hours in total? I whine and complain quite regularly about the in game economy and how crummy the roulette system is. It's all far from perfect.

Otoh, I spent some time this afternoon driving the new F3500 around Norschleife and it was probably the most convincing sim experience I've ever had. From the cockpit view, screaming around that track and seeing the visual of the car bouncing and jolting and how it matches up so well with the FF I feel on the wheel...it just did a great job of making me beleive I was doing what it's simulating. Really felt like I was driving this insanely fast and agile and grippy machine at crazy speeds along a road surface. It's a game I spent about $60 on and I've already gotten hundreds of hours of entertainment out of it. SO for me the good at least balances out the bad and I don't feel like I'm being used too badly...

Somehow fluked the F3500-A TT on Thursday evening while even being under the weather (fever). Dropped out of the top 100 sometime today but that was expected having put myself 92nd with a week remaining, that was never going to last. Still, 1'23.930 was definitely way better than I was expecting here. Though one.
