Fun one. I definitely enjoy this car. And even though the track is a cartoon it's flowy and consistent. I don't dislike it.

There is more time there for me, this was just a short session to feel it out, but I've got some nervy muscle things going on in my shoulder so I need to take it easy. Maybe no grinding on this just for that reason. Getting a massage today and a Chiro crack Monday so maybe it'll fix me. 🍻

That's weird, porsche owners complain bitterly about stupidly long gears. If I am hustling mine I only go to 3rd then straight to 7th for cruising, no idea what 4th through 6th does.
It must depend on the model and year. My 5 speed (915 trans) 911 has a first gear that lasts for 1/8 of a second before a shift is required and 2nd gear is just long enough that you can't leave from a standing start with it.
YMMV

My cayman (2.7) had a massively long first gear by comparison (987.2) actually quite awkward to drive around town because it was quite peaky all the time very much like a 205gti but not that bad 🤣

Still warm silver!
Love the Alsace and Strassenversion, but not that quick there.
I would really love to get gold there...

Watch my VR lap, you kinda have to be a lot more positive on your acceleration, and carry a fraction more speed in to a couple corners.

This one needs you to feel a bit knife edge, smooth isn't enough to make the time.

Clean lap but you have to push a bit more on those exits.

I've been pretty quiet lately, and was away last weekend so didn't get chance online.

So here's my update.

I wasn't going to bother with the F1 as I hate huge downforce cars on motion steering, but decided to give it a go on Wednesday night as the wife was out.... I'm stupid, I should have started it earlier as it was an absolute blast, I loved it (except for the wierd track limit on the second chicane).

Didn't manage to get gold but my optimal was well into gold, I just ran out of time for those extra tenths 😢

So that ignited a little GT7 TT spark back in me... Onto today, again I don't like EV cars in GT7 but thought, what the heck, lets just try it... I got carried away having so much fun again, may even go back again tomorrow 😯

Didn't even realise I was in gold but needed a little break.
1000017610.jpg

Another hour after this gave me a better gold result, I was near enough consistent at 1:37.4xx to 1:37.5xx whether it was a red lap or not, with the odd few being longer after trying different approaches.

I am quicker than Tidgney's ghost going through the last corner before the final sector starts on the back straight, had his ghost at 0.3sec ahead and by the chicane had my nose ahead of his ghost near enough every lap 😯 but kept messing up the final corner 🤦🏻‍♂️ but there is definitely more to give 😁 I think I'm back on the TT train now... Choo Choo 😝

My optimal is just outside the top 100 so that is giving me the push, I just need that 1 good lap 🫣

Man the Porsche is tough sledding. I am down to needing a second or so for predicted gold but maaaaaaaan it's tough. I just cannot get the nose to tuck in, there's so much under steer. I suspect MT is really needed here but I need more practice before committing to MT.

I dunno, I feel like I am waiting an eternity to get on the throttle.

M/T in this TT is the most beneficial in slow corners. A/T will usually go to 2nd gear which will make the car twitchy on exit while in M/T, keeping it on 3rd gear keeps the car stable.

I drive with both transmissions in a single session & change to either when I feel I've reached the threshold of no more improvement.

Not to mention the dwell time during upshifts totally eats into your exit speed down straights. Old car, slow transmission.

Pretty stoked my day 1 (weak ABS'd) time is still holding up in the top 10! :gtpflag:

I don't know my way around this track. However I'm willing to learn because the car is fun to drive and wills me on to push harder. Not sure when I'll have another crack because there's some other business that I must attend to first. It could be Tuesday, it could be Wednesday but either way, I will try again.

My optimal is now in the top 100 club 😬 just need to make it happen 🤞🏻
Great progress! Keep going!
No more holding overtake, just pure focus from now on
I am a bit surprised this works for you tbh. I felt like I always had to be very deliberate about when to trigger overtake so as not to overshoot corner exits. But I guess you can also modulate this with throttle input.

Thank you, trying to chase you down 🤣 don't think I'm going to catch you though

I took it back off for my next improvement because I looked at the top time replay and noticed that the overtake button isn't even used for some parts.

It's wierd to train timings to let go but evidently works, just got to keep pushing.

Thanks for tips.
I looked at your video and tried to drive more aggressively.
And reward came, a total of 0.700s better time then yesterday and went into 1:56

Are we the same age??

1986 club anyone? 🤝🏼

Hello fwiends!! Back after a monster work trip and not the best week I’ve had so great to be back in the (virtual) cockpit for some GT7 ASMR. I really do find it helps me switch off sometimes as my mind really cannot think about anything else when I’m going round in digital circles! 😁

Quick pitstop at NBR Sprint; I have less than 48 hours on this one so bit of a challenge to keep my World Top 100 in every challenge this year going… but a quick 25 miles put my mind at ease!

It’s not devoid of enjoyment but uhhh any trial you spend more time full braking than full accelerating is not the one if you ask me 🫣

Still.. some time on the table and it has its moments 😌

Another update, last one for today 😂

First off, here is the bollard that ruined my 1:36.9xx
1000017631.jpg

I was really pushing on this one
1000017632.jpg
1000017633.jpg

I went out to run a few errands and then came back to it later on.

For all my struggles I finally got my elusive ticket to finish off a long outstanding menu book.
1000017634.jpg

I carried on as my optimal was into the top 100 but best I could do was 1:37.193 after about 2 hours 😯 so I was thinking about giving up.

Then I thought... Just out of interest lets try a rental... It felt wierd trying to take the first chicane before I started my first lap, completely overshot it, but as it felt different I went again, and.....

Second lap in the rental and an improvement, what the hell 😂
1000017635.jpg

Last improvement for today, optimal in the top 100 and 0.001 ahead of @Dan_Tes actual time 😅
1000017636.jpg

1000017637.jpg

I made it into the 36s 😁🎉 but just outside that alien territory 😔

This is a wierd place to be on my leaderboard, in a higher place than @A_Higher_Place 🤣
1000017638.jpg

I really want to try again but I don't think I am going to have the time to 😔 I wonder if this will hold for my best finish though 🫣🤞🏻

That is a serious lap there! Congrats on entering that 36!, always nice to see this kind of progression, and what a joy that all your effords payed off in the end!

Hauuullliiinnngggg with them big boyyysss 😄😄 and not to Shaabbbyy at all! 👽👽

Here you go mate, it's on my profile or search 'JB Racing' I had to change a couple of decals. Some of the lines are slightly out (I'm blaming the editor!). Still, I'm pretty happy with it, hope you enjoy

This is awesome, and I can't see which decals have been changed, or any 'slightly out' lines - I suspect you are a perfectionist, top work, well done!!

(out of interest, it appears that this actual car switched in 1998 to the black Playstation livery I created the other day under the Labre Competition team in France!)

Yes, exactly... thats why I posted pictures of it in the Marlboro livery on the road in my last post. I know the guy who owns it, and I know the guy who recently changed it back to the Marlboro livery, and converted it to be road legal (maybe you should add the license plates to your livery :)).... and he is also selling it.

Thank you, I definitely think I got the TT bug back 😅

I'm itching to get that alien badge 😂

Cheers Jules, glad you like it. There were 3 decals on the rear quarter which I couldn't identify (one appears to be an old Peugeot dealership in France) Sorry i missed your point about the current owner, I bet he's selling it for a sizeable sum!

I took the car for a few laps today at Alsace, there's a lot of time to be had for me and after few laps crept into Gold, this time won't last and I look forward to having a good go at this one, it's a great combo

Guys, I've been participating long enough in this thread to somehow get the feeling that I know you people, even though we are "just" strangers spread around the world playing the same game the connection is there.

I thought I should share my current situation as I leave and take a time off from the game.

Sorry for the off topic, but sharing also helps a lot in my current state of mind.
