Lap Time Challenge Unimog Nurburgring.png

Hi folks

Well, I desperately wanted to put Fuji to bed today… and despite putting a time up that would ordinarily be beyond my expectations I feel like there is more time here and maybe a shot at world top 10…

Sorry @bliprunner, your move :D

I had an optimum split in the previous session of 1:47.7 flat.. I know it’s possible but… might be another fools game chasing it

Tomorrow will be another day and as I am on vacation I will have plenty of time to come back. This combo is really great but also stressful. This Z4 forgives nothing and we quickly waste precious time.

Good drive and enjoy
I have a feeling that I won't be able to catch you here.

I...I'm ahead of @Dan_Tes?? See what happens when I (mostly) hit each sector on the same lap. And sector 1 could have better, but I had a poor exit from the final turn to start the lap and put a couple tires into the gravel coming out of turn 1. All said, I fully expect to wake up tomorrow and see Dan has blown by me. Unless he doesn't run another lap here. (hint hint) :P

Some car + tyre combos only work when devoting some good hours to understand the dynamics. If You'll feel impatient or give up hope then nothing will work. Be mentally prepared to toil over this. Don't forget our superhero @Tidgney who's guidance & ghost is a very big help/assistance. Study his lap guide well & then see how You'll reap the rewards.
I appreciate the advice. I already watch @Tidgney's guide each week to get the most I can out of each TT. I just like to complain! And my inconsistency drives me nuts sometimes.
The average delta of the world’s best times:
+0.91 % for Tidgney (WR 156/ 180 events)
+1.44% for @Dolph Drago (WR 4187/ 51 events)

In an all-time database (1,069,841 PSN accounts), Dolph Drago is among the fastest 0.39%.

I think he doesn’t need mental preparation to be a formidable opponent 😅
Thank you! I'm not completely inept. ;) I mostly just get frustrated when I don't perform as well over one lap as I feel capable.

Beautiful lap, sir!. I'm back to work next week so I might be done gaining now... 😥 Hopefully the wife doesn't mind if I grind a little this weekend 👽

Epiphany o’ clock! I’m not going to say I’m enjoying it, any sense of realism can be shattered by power oversteering at 35mph in 3rd gear at 4000rpm BUT… taking CSA off and weirdly, using a rental… it started to make sense

Don’t ask me why the rental was that much easier to control maybe it’s just placebo… however CSA strong was debilitating and I’m much faster without it.

I still don’t like it

I’m a little more confident I’m going to make top 100 to keep the streak alive

I’m sure this will annoy @Dolph Drago (sorry mate!)

Finally, today I played this amazing of a TT with the Z4. I was very impressed with the car & the CS grip that came along, as if driving on RH tyres!

Even though I've seen @Tidgney's lap guide 2 days back, today I just drove with A/T & by not keeping much regard for the references for braking/turning. The las sector is the toughest zone of the lap especially the 2nd last long sweeping left turn.

But boy oh boy, I love the undulations of this track. So much fun & the Z4 really compliments this track to a certain extent.

I ran about 20 laps or so & managed a firm Silver time of 1:40:440, a few tenths shy of Gold. My optimal is in Gold already. Am sure once I study @Tidgney's lap guide again & shift to M/T, I'll be in Gold category tomorrow.

Morning everyone - normal Saturday morning session and I was determined to find the last chunk of time at Fuji before moving on to the new event. Some 75 miles later, and I'm there! Within a few hundredths of my ultimate optimal over all sessions, but no idea really why this was any faster than some of the other laps - I seemed to get a better run out of the last corner on the clock, but don't feel I really did anything different lol. I'm sure this won't stay in the top 100 by Wednesday evening, but may have a chance of a PB result.

Had a quick go in the BMW afterwards - grabbed gold, much to learn

This ain't annoying me though.... 🤣🤣
But we all know a 37 is a fact next session, but for now....that a very pleasant leaderboard you got there buddy 😁🤣

It's wonderful to see you at the track, Mr. Dragon! I followed holl01's recommendation of ABS Default with some results.

Thank you my friend! I'm moving on and trying to get myself back up. GT7 helps me getting a little break from my current real life challenges.

I see the recomendations did work for ya!
Getting into the 38's is a great result! 😎

Did some laps of the Subaru WRX Gr.4 @ Fuji Short (Wet) today, and got what I think was a respectable time that was less than 4% off the top. I didn't see myself shaving off over a full second to get into gold range, though. Definitely a fun combination IMO. I used the full wets rather the the inters, too.

I beat my brother by 0.004 seconds last night. Talk about whisker thin margins... Anyway, I really want to buy a Z4 now because it's soo much fun to drive and still looks great. Chris Bangle might've had some controversial designs but the Z4 is not one of them. There's a lot of small but highly effective design elements that add intricacy without being fussy. I miss this era of design.

A quick couple of questions for this TT Mates.....

Should ABS be set to default or weak? What's the biggest difference between the two settings?

(In F1 games, I keep the ABS 'On' to prevent the tyres from locking but in return this delays my entry a little bit into the turns. Is it the same with GT7?)

It's mostly personal preference, as there are drivers in top 11 worldwide @ Sardegna TT using each one (holl01: Default; Tidgney: Weak). I only mention those two since they're the only ones whom I've seen mention which one they used.
Some use Weak always, some use Default always, and some drivers switch between the two. Even a handful alway drive with ABS Off.
I think Default should result in more stability while Weak can shorten the stopping distance.
Personally I'm an either/or and I usually try each one at the start of a TT, but if I know what a certain driver is using, and I am chasing their ghost, I probably match their ABS setting.

The brake pedal that have been giving me trouble for the last three months finally completely failed tonight. So I dug out my original CSL elite pedals that I’ve never used, installed those and tried to relearn non load-cell braking on the Fuji time file.

I’ve got to say for a cheap pair of pedals, they’re actually pretty impressive. I managed to figure out my left foot enough to get gold on my first session.

I really dislike Fuji so I don’t think I’ll be going back for any more.

I agree with you. Personally I always use ABS at weak but on this TT with ABS on default the Z4 is much more stable. I didn't beat my time yesterday of 1'38'833, but having better braking on certain sections my optimal time was 1'38'640. But it's the regularity in my laps that I miss
