Dear all,
I am trying Suzuka TT on a controller. I would love to get SILVER this time. Currently I am 0.8 sec off, but would target to gain 1-1.2 sec to be safe. If I will improve more, I will be even happier.

I was given suggestions and tips by a young mam called @happycorey (THANKS, mate!!!). Maybe someone see how I can get that one second or more. I will practice!

If I combine all best sectors, it will be 1.38.6 which is SILVER easily. But easily said than done.

Managed to improve to 1.39.318 (if I find another 0.5 - it will be insane good for me).

Any suggestions, guys?

Not great not terrible. I'm sure I can find more but these formula cars don't use comfort tires so I'm out of my element here. 😂🍻
Recently we spoke about throttle control and that's why I enjoy this combo a lot. Racing soft tyres with high downforce need just a lot of throttle! 😁

So it may be my element but not my league. I am in silver territory after 30 laps (i.e. maybe 10 valid laps @Lomic ) and will probably stay out of gold range.

But my optimum looks promising to climb some places on my friend's board and I will do more laps just because of the fun of it. Happy and fast lapping everyone! 🏁

I just had my third session at Suzuka and I took a huge chunk of time off for a safe gold.

Ironically, I thought I messed up the Casio triangle at the end because I got my gearing wrong and i pulled out in 4th thinking i was in 3rd. Not sure if that actuslly helped me or made me lose a 10th. I was chasing TheKei25 and he seemed to get a better launch out of Casio.

Then checking my car afterwards I discovered I ran it with worn engine oil as well. 🤦

Second go at this, discovered my car also needed abit of an oil change so did that and set about it. 3 laps was all it took to get into Silver territory. Fun combo this, I know many aren't super keen (heh) on the car or track but as a longtime F1 game player and someone who's had laps on this track going all the back to the Le Mans 24 Hours game (and now a Super Formula fan), this is my jam.

Ye when I do the lap guides if there's no huge necessity to be in certain gears as in they would create more risk than potential reward for the majority I'll not take that risk to show that it isn't needed 😊 . Glad the ghost and lap guides are helpful!
Of course Mate not only are they helpful but Your commentary is really sweet. I had tried using 4th gear in the final chicane as You did but I felt the car more rigid to navigate there whereas 3rd gear gave more bite & response.

Overall, I learnt all the tips & guidelines for securing a good lap time so I owe this great achievement to You @Tidgney :gtpflag:

2 stints with the Z4 yesterday.
First one saw me improve by a massive .020s 😅 but back in top 5000... 🤷‍♂️
Second stint was frustrating and good at the same time.. Optimal is a good .25s down on my personal record of 39.5xx but could not string the lap together. 9 out of my 12 laps are between 39.4xx and 39.9xx so consistent but sadly not faster enough. Hope I got some time today or tomorrow for a final push to get a bit higher on the leaderboard!

Do we have folks that did gold on a controller here? I mean suzuka TT. Just wondering if you use TC or not
Jup, not my fastest combo cause i hate high downforced cobo's but still a descent 36.134 on the pad.
I did run without TCS and think ABS weak, did drop my sensitivity for the pad to 4, just a little less nerveous.

Indeed use the higher gear on exits, hairpin first gear to rotate and 3th on you way out and feed throttle slowly and you will be fine.
and you can even go to 5th for the esse's if you struggle and.... you can get away with a lot of coasting within the gold range.

😁

That double shift to third at the hairpin is huge for me. It dropped my time half a second. Cheers for that little nugget of advice for everyone!

Managed a final time of 1:35.671 at Suzuka, it was a pretty clean lap although I messed up turn 14. I haven't really been grinding time trials lately but this one was surprisingly addictive

These Swedish guys ........ what in godsname is in the air there besides northernlight?? 😂 😂
Quit a descent time on the pad there!

🙏good job!

A slight progress. Got to within Silver for now, but I need a bigger margin. I keep learning and enjoy the process. I am well too aware that you guys have so much skill and experience. It helps with humility:-)

Scary thing here is you are not doing a lot wrong. COmpared to what I can do which is right on the edge of gold, you are getting on the gas very late after the second Degner and you need to be far more aggressive with Spoon. Otherwise tbh you hit your apexes.

Thank you. I will keep practicing!

Your lines are not to bad imo!
T1 you can take a slightly wider line to get on the throttle more early and your problem is trusting the downforce 😁
The essses can take a lot more speed, same as the two degners, degner 1 is only a slight lift then line up for the second one, trailbrake your way in and get on the power asap due to the little straight after that, exit speed of degner 2 is very important.
The hairpin I would also exit in 3th even with TCS and stay in 5th until Spoon instead of going to 6th gear. ( same before degner 1, stay in 5th ) 😁😁

You just have to be more agressive and trust the downforce a bit more

For reference you could take a look at my last lap

Good luck!

The Suzuka trial is really on the edge of my current skill set using AT and TC2. Managed to just get under the gold time by a 10th but I don't think it will hold and I am driving on the absolute ragged edge.
I have to think auto is really hurting your progress on this TT - even for the sake of exiting the hairpin and the Casio chicane, but there are plenty of times in the first two sectors where gear choice is, IMO, really important. Have you tried with MT?

It hurts every TT TBH. It's weird, IRL I use manual both on the road and track but in this game I am so focused on lines and gas I find the MT distracting and it is quicker if I just max out my lines.

@Gomario, it is interesting watching your lap. TBH it looks kind of messy but you absolutely SMASH me by a full second. Here's my second fastest lap but TBH I feel it was the best other than the need to lift at T2 and I got a ton of wheelspin at the hairpin. If I got the hairpin right this is a mid 36 i reakon.
