This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

I’m at 420, that’s what I used for the recent Eiger Nations race. Found it easier to catch slides without being fired off the track.Alright fellas all jokes aside, this is surprisingly enjoyable and I had a blast in my first session. @TheNormsk trick of setting wheel to 720 degrees was my first port of call, I didn’t even try with it at its normal setting (wait, I didn’t check what ‘normal’ was before changing it ahhh) but I can really imagine that helping here (maybe?) does it slow the steering down or speed it up aaahhh. Anyways, big trouble with GT7 feedback is still here; the steering is way too light for something this twitchy, anyone who has ever driven a kart will know how heavy the steering is and without that weight it’s very challenging especially as the slightest over input results in a spin. So max torque set to 10 in game to give me a fighting chance.
But yeah it’s pretty good, a lot of fun carrying so much momentum and it’s very immersive in VR if not a bit headache inducing..
I’m not up to @bliprunner ’s level but it’s a good start!

truth. It's fun but it isn't two weeks worth of fun. 😂
I must be lucky as i get no headaches and I just love it in VR. In fact I tried it flatscreen as well and found it impossible to drive that way.it’s very immersive in VR if not a bit headache inducing.
That’s really tight. I may tighten my steering a bit by bit as I get used to the kart. Perhaps 580 or 600 next.I’m at 420
Not to be the negative downer I often feel like recently but what is two weeks worth of fun? If something’s properly fun I might stretch it to three sessions/three days but I feel like that’s the very max. One or two preferred. But I guess that’s a tad individual... I’ll admit I’m somewhat fatigued. Though perhaps you were kidding a bit.
Well, normally I have a few very short sessions throughout the period each trial is posted. Generally I'll spend an hour each evening or a few evenings a week, and progress slowly to my optimal. I have found that this game, for me, is just a puzzle and that it's really good for my brain. It destresses me a ton to play so when I get anxious I bury myself in it. I like having a constant to distract me and focus me.Not to be the negative downer I often feel like recently but what is two weeks worth of fun? For every TT I put in as much time and laps I require to comfortably secure a Gold for its duration. The amount of time and effort varies by TT specs of course, but that's been my universal approach to them all. The Lancer/Nordwand TT is the outlier for me so far, in that I secured Gold way sooner than I expected; usually I can do it in my second day of runs but with Lander/Nordwand I did it on my second run. So I hadn't gone back to it since. Not to be the negative downer I often feel like recently but what is two weeks worth of fun?
That’s why I found automatic to be quicker. Either I was bouncing off the rev limiter or changing up too early with manual. The main issue I found in a few sighting laps is in VR you have no idea where you are in the Rev range, I know that the hand moves but it’s a little early just awkward to hit the sweet spot consistently.
I can actually confirm what you say. it's not possible to drive at all. If I tilt my controller 3 degrees it's literally full lock. So tiny steering angle is just not possible to do. I literally can't finish the lap. I usually gold all other TTs in first session. The karts are undriveable for me on motion steering.
The slightest movement translates to full lock.
I have got the new wheel and used it a few times on the PC now, which is why I haven't been active on here for a while.
Think I will probably do the kart TT with it though.
You need to get on the gas basically all the time if possible, even if 5pc, because if revs drop you get soaked for time.
I can't confirm with any publication using my Google-Fu, but just by the in-game engine note (and power delivery) I'm guessing the 125cc engine in the kart is a 2-stroke. So yeah, peak power only exists in the upper rev range, and it's basically non-existent below that. 😝That’s why I found automatic to be quicker. Either I was bouncing off the rev limiter or changing up too early with manual.
The auto seems to change at around the 14.7-14.8 mark so perhaps it’s leaving a few HP on the table but it’s better than what I was doing.
