Got gold on the first attempt
I wonder what % of TT participants (will we be 200k like at BH in the kart?) will get gold on this one, 50 % ? more? can't wait to see @half_sourly 's stats in two weeks:cheers:
Way ... WAAAY higher

This is already accounting for the adjusted 1 % cut-off.

man, Dunning Kruger is in full effect over on Reddit in any thread relating to the online TTs! lol. So many people stating with complete confidence factually incorrect information! "You need to be within 2% of the world record and everyone who gets gold ahead of you pushes you farther out of gold." I mean...all you need to do is look at the TV screen and you'll see there's no "2%" anywhere there! It seems like a lot of people have a really tough time understanding how these things work...and it's just not that complicated.
It's not like we have an article every week which spells it out so nobody needs to guess.

In order to access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it’s just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.

You’ll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure “gold” status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There’s smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.

The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday April 10.
Oh wait.

Disappointed with the new event - feels like a wasted opportunity. If they wanted to do an event with that car, then Road America or Laguna Seca would have been good. Any car on this track feels pointless over a single lap... doing something like a 4 lap average, or a 4 lap total would be more interesting (just)! Either way, gold in two laps this morning and will see if I can squeak out a few thousandths later, but I won't be spending much time on this and I've pretty much peaked with the Aston Martin.

But ... it says "target time".
How to read it could be position?
Target time is dynamic (relative) and not predefined by PD (absolute). So one could... having the wrong assumption
Target time setting either as 2% worse then top.
Or theoretically target time setting based on time of the player who closes 2% of Leaderboard.

But as mentioned before i just looked at the gold silver bronze times and didn't care about the formulas or reading T&C.

The results for TT134 at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter are over here. I have updated the opening post with the index of all TTs and the second post with the community scoreboards. A reminder that each driver's results for every TT is in the Excel file attached to the latest results post.

Here are some interim statistics for TT135 at Watkins Glen Long Course in the Aston Martin Vantage '18.

TT just as ridiculous as last year’s with the Chaparral VGT.

Too bad that the real car legend is not better exploited with another combo...

I share your opinion: Here the first skill is not your speed on the track, but your ability to record it before others. All players must return as soon as possible if you are trying to improve your stats. Already 4,250 players in the same tenth as the current WR.

This was exactly my sentiment as well. It being a Chaparral might be a reference to the prior meme TT in the laser car but truly a wasted and missed opportunity because unlike the laser Chaparral the 2J is actually really fun and incredible to drive.

We had it once in a daily race A around Monza without the chicane, that was one of the most entertaining daily combos I've had. Shame, it really deserved a proper "chance" on another track. Here's a quick clip from the aforementioned race.

How do you guys prepare a lap so that you could carry more speed? This is where I am lagging behind
You need at least 2 laps, and this one isn’t measured when you are doing it in speed but distance traveled that is why it’s super important to be as smooth as humanly possible on the banking, but it’s critical you final sector is in the sweet spot to do the next lap, so don’t always dive at the line and cut across if you have good consistent momentum and line to go in to a lap, .5 mph and 40 less feet of movement is worth 100ths

But what should be the right line to start a lap? How should I finish a lap and start a lap? That is my concern

I'm not sure I understand this Chaparral TT. The fastest anyone is probably ever going to get is 39.800-ish. even if you clock a 40.700 you'll still be in the gold area. Unless somehow a super alien comes along and can get this thing up to 240MPH there's no way you can lose gold. Practically the easiest 2million to be made in the game at the moment.

Separate the things.
1. Do a setting up lap by going wide on the last banking.
2. Do a hot lap.
a. If your delta is good, keep tight and go big. Then return to step 1.
b. If your delta after S2 is not good, abort and go high on the last banking.

In other words, you cannot do two hot laps in a row in my experience, because staying tight at the end sacrifices starting speed.

You are way way way over thinking it.

You need to do 1 lap to get to full speed. Then travel the least distance (take the tightest line as smoothly as possible) and right before the line IF you are on a mega lap go a bit tighter but never fully cross the orange line.

No. Nowhere even close. Not even a 40.4 will happen. Or a 40.50x, or 40.51x. I doubt a 40.52x.
even if you clock a 40.700 you'll still be in the gold area.
How are you calculating this? At your supposed 39.8 (let's say flat), gold would be 40.198, not 40.700.

If someone does manage a 40.529, gold will be 40.934.
