Right on cueWell, after a decade, and thanks to a Tweet from Romesh Ranganathan, it's gone mainstream. At least two national radio stations are now playing it, and there's an "official Whamageddon" website. Wikipedia reckons it first appeared online in 2012 (no) - and in fact, it's so mainstream that there's a Wikipedia page for it.
Since George Michael's died as well, I propose we move to a new song from 2019.
Specifically, I propose "All I Want for Christmas is You", by Mariah Carey - because it has an extremely distinct intro sequence, and also because we can call it the Apocareypse.
@TJ13 Don't trust local markets, as we have learned year after year. I'm out, entered a local market to go to the bakery and was met by the cursed lyrics.
To be fair, I am surprised I lasted this long. My work takes me through a lot of different businesses, offices, work sites and the like, and I made it nearly halfway through December. Was it fresh baked?
And I'm a goner... As I enter the plane the crew is blasting the song full volume on the speakers.
Thanks for flying Air Wham. We hope to see you again.
I guess it isn't so bad. I only care that it's a cover.I have to admit, I kind of like Jimmy Eat World's cover.
The problem is that they will, in 2 days time
I doubt it - we weren't even the origin of it. Best I can tell @RouWa brought it here from another forum.
