I was watching the San Marino GP 1994 as usual on a Sunday afternoon as it unfolded

As with many others no doubt, I knew it was very bad for Senna as soon as I saw it

And with all those others I was shocked when I heard of his death, because he seemed
somehow indestructible

It really shows how dangerous racing is doesn't it? I distinctly remember the commentators were chatting to Wheldon on the comms during the formation laps and talking about the 5 million dollar prize he was racing for, they had a laugh and a couple of jokes with him. Then less than an hour later he was dead.

It's almost unbelievable

A Champ car race in 1996 sticks in my head more than any other. I was watching it live on Eurosport and the car went airborne and hit the catch fence but there was a lamp post behind the fencing which cut the car in 2. The 2 halves fell back on track and the camera shows the driver sitting in the car already dead. As the car was in 2 you could see his legs hanging out the front , it was a weird feeling. A marshal was also killed, as the car went airborne 1 wheel struck him.

I've seen that one before Cunny, absolute without doubt the scariest crash I've ever seen. Also, watching my first live IndyCar race in months and Wheldon dying really shocked me.

Thankfully safety has improved since the 90's and that's why only the adults here are commenting on those crashes.(Well, we all saw the Dan Wheldon one)

All Le Mans races I did were dirty, it was when GTP_Dan started hosting that it became clean, though with a very small grid. ^^

I can always make TOCA as it's in the evening, its the day stuff I dont think I can do much more of consistantly anymore.
