PRE SEASON QUESTIONS... with driftking18594, 2 time TOCA champ!!!

What got you into TOCA?
I was just looking for some way to spend my boring Saturday evenings.

How have you found your previous races in TOCA?
Season 1 was really easy (no offence intended to the others) compared to Season 2, as I had that mighty Altezza (how I miss it...). I think I have not unlocked the full potential of the Atenza, but then again I still use a DS3.

What do you think of the NGTC cars compared to the old cars?
They're a bit slower, but my BMW is feels much more balanced than the Atenza. It's bringing back memories of the Altezza.

Which drivers and teams are ones to watch in Season 3?
To be honest, I have no idea other than MRT. They've really turned the Volvo into a race winner, and forgive me for my schadenfreude but I'm hoping it turns into the Season 1 Integra near the end of the race.

If you could change one thing in TOCA what would it be?
Making the S15 a NGTC car.

What do you think of the changed schedule in Season 3?
I'm glad to see the back of Madrid, and I'm equally glad to see HSR and Cape Ring Inside return. I'm hoping for some rain!

How do you think the Megane Challenge will be like?
It might be great fun, seeing as we're all in the same cars.

Any other business?
I've just finished off my GT5 fanfic, so no, not really.

Pre-season interview with Louise Goodman.

Louise Goodman: Hi Tom, nice to speak to you, how's everything shaping up for Season 3?

Tom Brooks: Hi Louise, Everything seems to be absolutely fine thanks.

LG: Have you tested the car recently?

TB: I haven't lately as I took a break to Somerset last week to relax and unwind.

LG: Has Dan tested the car recently?

TB: I haven't got a clue to be honest with you, we haven't spoken for a while but i'll have a word with him and let you know.

LG: So the Megane Trophy Support Race, looking forward to it?

TB: Very much so, as commentating on it will be fantastic, it really will show who has true pace.

LG: So I hear you're off to the USA next week?

TB: Yes I am, again some more time to relax and unwind, however I may find myself by the side of a race track there, I am definitely going to be racing karts once or twice as it brings back memories of how I got into this series in the first place!

LG: Rumor has it that your team-mate Dan will be commentating on the Megane Support Race with you next season?

TB: This is yet to be confirmed but I really do hope so, we could be the next Murray Walker and James Hunt

LG: Well Tom I know you have a busy schedule so i'll let you get on.

TB: Thanks a lot Louise, nice talking to you.

I'll be away for next few days, but I will have the final dates organised very soon. In the mean time a Time Trial Challenge:

Cape Ring Inside - real grip reduction, offline. What lap times can you get?

I was going to do an online superlap sort of thing however I'll scrap it and do this TT instead.👍

Tom
I'll get testing for round 2 on August 15th as I get back then unless you want to test for round 1 if you're racing ib that one.
I can comfirm that I would like to be co-commentator from round 2

Sorry for double post.

ITV: Dan, how are the pre-season preparations coming along?

DB: It seems to be going well, the lap times at several tracks are good but the tyre wear is becoming an issue compared to the other BMWs

ITV: Do you think you and your team mate can win the championships this year?

DB: I don't know, consistency has proven to be key over the last two seasons and I am definetly missing round 1 so that is already several points lost. We can win races definetly if we get a good set up. Also, we need to not get caught up in incidents, with closer competition there will be even more danger than the last few years so we must avoid pile-ups

ITV: How is the car compared to before?
DB: It is much better than the Lexus which was a bag of b**ls! It was stupidly slow over one lap at every track (3 secs off Honda in Monaco) apart from one. It doesn't have the understeer of the Integra which is fantastic! We need to improve long run pace as places like Tsukuba are going ro be battles of set-ups rather than drivers now.

ITV: Who is worrying you the most of other competitors?

DB: We don't fear anyone as they are all beatable but MRT seem to bave good set-up knowledge and a quick Volvo. Monster Energy seem to be on our pace but with tougher penalties we may hopefully be fine with racing them.

ITV: On the topic of penalties do you think they will implemented better?

DB: We'll see, I hope so as a lot if las season it seemed like people could get away with murder but this year will hopefully be different. Some drivers need a careful watching over as they have ruined several races. A board of stewards that change depending on who was involved in an incident would work well.

At last! We managed to grab a chance to speak to The_Boyce after being away and finishing a photo shoot at Tsukuba.

ITV. Hows the pre season practice and testing going?

TB. Very well thanks. The car feels great and some good times are coming in. The holiday I had gave me a well deserved rest and i'm sure my wife enjoyed the break away from a racing enviroment too.

ITV. How have you adapted to the Honda after changing from the BMW?

TB. Well the obvious difference is the front wheel drive but it is suprising how much more controlled the car feels and the grip is amazing!

ITV. Do you think its a better car to race than the Mazda in season 2?

TB. The Mazda was a great car with loads of Torque and that 4wd confidence. But the Honda has just as much chance if not more to be a front runner this season.

ITV. Was it a suprise when Vtec withdrew from next season and the Gold racing team?

TB. Yes & no. I knew that he had a few issues with one or two of the Toca rules and the governing body, but i thought that he would put those to the back of he's mind and just race for the love of it.

ITV. Do you think you will do as well being an independant as you may have done being in a team?

TB. Well I done pretty well last season on my own so i'm not to worried about not having a team mate, at least I dont have the worry of colliding with a team mate accidently or obeying team orders.

ITV. What do you think your chances are this time round?

TB. As good as anyones. Finishing 3rd last season whilst missing 9 of the races was very satisfying for me but all drivers want to improve on the previous season.

ITV. Anyone or any team you should be looking out for?

TB. TME where potentialy a threat but they have ceased to be so probably MRT. But I am my own worst enemy when it comes to trying to hard and making mistakes, i'll just have to focus on the race at that time.

ITV. Thank you for speaking to us and best of luck for this season.

TB. Your welcome.

I'll be away for next few days, but I will have the final dates organised very soon. In the mean time a Time Trial Challenge:

Cape Ring Inside - real grip reduction, offline. What lap times can you get?

Offline 55.550, but I became so frustrated with it (especially the ghost cars) that I left for online, where I was able to slightly improve to 55.337.

Time trial-offline-real grip-Cape Ring Inside
akmuq-Volvo-Team MRT-55.259
Carbonox-Ford-Carbon Motorsport-55.550

I've made a scoreboard for the TT, to help keep track of things.

Also, be advised that the different physics means the result of the TT isn't the garenteed race result, some cars may be a dog of a car offline due to an online setup. For example, in the V8 Challenge my car was a dream to drive online and is faster then anyone else who as declared their laptimes at the moment, but offline it was understeer madness.:yuck:

I've got 3 questions: 1. when does the season start?
2. what kind of upgrades is allowed for megane?
3. why are the still questions mark in the first page under chosen car?
i said i'm driving the bmw.
sorry for the questions, I wasn't really following this thread much. will start now :D

I think the Megane is in the recommended tab, so no upgrades or even setups, everyone's starting from the exact same line.

Hey Dan, I go to the States on Monday and come back on the 22nd and with the season starting on the 27th (hopefully) I'll only have a few days testing 👎 And it would be fantastic for you to commentate with me, just need Furi's approval 👍

Well, one of my sponsors is..... *asks MrMulsanne what our sponsor is*

Tell everybody tomorrow.;)

Great, now I get a day to make up some crap and lie to everybody, Mwhahahahahahahahaahahaaha.

Man I'm gonna have a bad start to the season, I can't stand this track... Where can you overtake anyway?

Yeah, I'll probably have to wait some rounds before I can dream of winning anything 👎 The chicane seems really awkward, it wouldn't be a surprise if some guys cut it a little during the race.

Hi guys :) I know I haven't participated in this thread but just want to let you know I would still like to be a driver in this series :), just incase you thought I had disappeared.

I don't really use this part of the forum which is why I'm quiet in here.
