Driftking18594 was handed a 25-second penalty in Race 1 due to his lag and driving. Race 3 similar action was considered but not taken.

EDIT: NEW TOPIC UP IN DRIVERS GROUP - Enjoy figuring it out...

Could it be natural? Starts wet and we go on from there?

Previous testing at Monza and High Speed Ring show that it rarely goes from complete sun to rain in an hour to 90 mins. Room will be re set after Race 2, so the track may already start to dry before Race 3 begins....

BMW's will be forced to run with an additional 50kg of ballast at Monza this weekend.

What?! We've already lost our main advantage and now this? Everyone knew the specs pre-season and had plenty of time to test individual cars to find the quickest and so it's their fault that they're not faster. Also, how is this going to be regulated? It's impossible.

I agree with you on weather and tyre/fuel depletion but adding ballast to one car mid-season is completely unfair. Did no-one watch Silverstone?

As well as Dans point, can the ballast be monitored by stewards??

It can't, simple as that. They can check braking distances, however, this has numerous factors that can affect it.

If you're going to change the regs, do it in the off-season, not during. Also, you had 8 weeks to find out about the BMW advantage but nothin was done. Everytime I proposed a test race to compare performance we only did 2 laps or so and found nothing. If this does go ahead then good luck regulating it!

^ You don't race for Ferrari, so it won't work.

In race 3, 2 BMWs came from the back row to finish 1st and 2nd , I was the guy they caught and passed . They are far and away the quickest car. 50kg ballast sounds fair I guess.

Is tyre wear still off or is it back next time ?

But everyone had the same opportunity and could've used the BMW if they wanted. This arguably should've been done before the season started, when people were allowed a car change and there was a huge amount of time to test. Also, once again, it's uninforceable.

Using that logic, there would be a grid full of BMWs !

Im sure when the NGTC were selected and tested Furi and whoever else took part in testing were aiming for a mixture of cars of similiar ultimate pace but with unique strengths and/or weaknesses.

Obviously the underlying pace advantage wasnt so clear in testing , it is now . I joined late so I knew the BMWs were faster but I still chose a Ford for variety. On that note I would like to see a Mazda and Infiniti on the grid next week.

Variety and close competition make this all much more interesting and enjoyable. This is TOCA afterall not the BMW touring series or somesuch.

I don't want it to be the BMW series either but you can't penalise people who've taken the initiative by choosing the fastest car. Everyone is now locked into one car now and so the car I originally
picked is very different to the one I have now with no way out.
Also, nobody knows how on earth this can be regulated.

Edit: I also want variety too but only when it doesn't conflict with sporting fairness. I fully support changing the regs for season 4 but not now.

As far as I can tell the speed advantage of the BMWs seems to be the result of not enough hard and thorough testing. Even before the series started some of you were admitting that they were definitely faster, so why didn't you fix it? Personally I think the closest car in performance to the BMW is the Focus, it has some good potential.

UPDATE - I think the way I would go about this if starting such a series would be like this:

Choose the cars I want to compete, then upgrade/tune them all until they can get round an average track with around half a second of lap time deviation after solid testing. Afterwards I would then post the car tunes and run test lobbies to see how it plays out with more people.

^This is my two cents on how to regulate car performance for a future season. I hope I explained it clearly enough. :)

I wasnt here before so I really dont know , the Focus is competitive (for half a lap lol) Akmuqs Volvo matched me for a while its performance seemed equal to the Ford.

I tested the Mazda which seemed slow plus I dont know if itll be competing.

Infiniti ??

What about the Honda ?

+1

We could've regulated by PP as i'm pretty sure I suggested back in august but no, no-one wanted it then.

Another testing flaw. No-one bothered testing full race distances, just 1 lap pace leading to an illusion of car parity. I thought everyone was cool with the BMW being the fastest as high tyre wear was touched upon but not in great detail.

I went for the Mazda at first and it was horrendous; too much power for its chassis and it understeered like a truck, surprising given how well it drove stock. Maybe this could be helped by things like Rigidity enhancement?

I couldnt have got any more out the Focus if I tried, im actually a decent tuner and had it bang on for my style.

I even managed a re-pass on Sumo at one point before he left me in his wake :D

When I have the spare time ill build a BMW and a Volvo for comparison . I havent ran a lap on Monza yet.

Rigidity improvement- Im not sure if that makes a big difference , if its tendency is to understeer then thatll always be the case to an extent.

Plus I worry about the car snapping with it installed ( not in this case) but if it was on something more powerful.

I'll try tuning up a Focus tomorrow and see what I can get out of it.

Another reason why the BMW is fast: Weight Reduction Stage 3.

The Inifiniti is similar in weight to the BMW, yet its setup for this season has only Weight Reduction 2 making it heavier than the BMW whilst having the same power. What's happened here is that cars have been regulated only through matching the power and by very loosely restricting the weight. This isn't enough to compensate for base platform characteristics.

I havent exactly looked at all specs . But for a racing spec vehicle the BMWs FR layout jumps out at you compared to all the FFs.

Is there an Audi we could include im thinking.

Next season remove BMW and re-introduce tyre wear. Perhaps give an extra part to the Mazda and maybe the Honda in order to equalise performance. You could have a good race between faster FFs and good long run Infinitis? It would need testing first though.

I know nothing about current touring cars or TOCA so I'm probably not the best for car suggestions. :P

I think Golf could scrape within the regulations.

Bigberry: Integra is pretty quick, not wrathalls toyota but it's the closest thing I could think of.

Damn I forgot the Golf , Integras good but youd have that or the Civic rather than both. Heres a few that could be in most are short wheelbase .

Peugeot 207 gti 172bhp 1260kg FF
Mini Cooper s 07 172 bhp 1210kg FF
Citroen C4 177bhp 1330kg FF
Alfa 147twinspark 147 bhp 1280kg FF
Audi TT 07 246 bhp 1410kg 4WD

Theres also the Golf and the Lancia Delta Integrale all if these are premiums.
