But everyone had the same opportunity and could've used the BMW if they wanted. This arguably should've been done before the season started, when people were allowed a car change and there was a huge amount of time to test. Also, once again, it's uninforceable.

Mistakes happen as well as oversights unfortunatly. You are right in saying that there was ample time pre season to discover the differences in the cars performances but it looks like a massive oversight happened and needs to be addressed. Mr M i think is just trying to make the season fair for everyone and surely a closer competitive season for all is far more exciting than a pretty much predictable outcome every week?

I understan that mistakes happen and that Mr M is trying to make it fairer but I think this the wrong time to do it.

+1

We could've regulated by PP as i'm pretty sure I suggested back in august but no, no-one wanted it then.

For me PP is a safer bet, in the season 2 V8's we set all 8 cars at 591bhp and 1250kg in weight, wont bother boring you with the list but the Ford Gt 06 destroyed the field everywhere the margin was incredible fast tracks slow tracks small large made no difference. Setting the pp to 563 and bringing in testers from the outside to help with testing was a major advantage which furi i would strongly recommend for your next series.💡 The Ford is now well over 100bhp down on some of the other cars in our field yet the laptimes on the tracks we tested are comparable. Maybe PP is a cowards way out of setting up a series who knows but for me it seems to work.👍

So is this 50KG penalty for Monza only or the whole series? :)

I just wanna put it behind us, and starting to look at cars for the next series would be good. :)

Oh and, the other 8 rounds left in this one ;)

As said, we want to make the races more unpredictable. Heck, in season 2 there were 6 different winners in the first 6 races. This is far more boring than that.

This is exactly the right time to do it in my opinion. Better now than half way through the season. At least now the BMW's have a good lead to try and defend against more equal cars.

That is more down to circuit selection and the drivers I feel. Sumo and neljack have been great so far and the other BMWs have all been tripping over each other. I just think it's unfair to penalise us now, you guys should've complained earlier to be perfectly honest as we are well underway into the season.
Also, it isn't possible to enforce ballast on the BMWs. You can't make sure that we have it at all.
Perhaps if we go along the lines of tyre and fuel depletion in that we have a rule affecting all the cars. We all start on softs but if you finishing on the podium you must use the harder or medium compound for the next race? It's just an idea right but it can be regulated.

But how is this the right time? We are locked into a car with no say in what parts are now put on it, if you're going to apply a rule change now it should affect all atleast rather than hindering one particular car.

Because after two weekends it is obvious that the one car is hugely overperforming. This was also discussed last week and was very close to being implemented, but would consider to see how Autumn went. With that it became more clearer.

Have you all considered how 50kg of ballast is to be regulated though?

Boo-hoo, you don't have a better car then all of us.

Yes.

Yes.

What do you mean boo hoo? You all had the exact same as oppourtunity as me to choose the best car but you didn't. So we are now being punished for this? And don't get all sarcastic, the people complaining about a lack of parity are just as bad as me.

Well if you've worked out a way to check if people are using the required amount of ballast then well done, I know I could'nt have.

I'm pretty sure no-one can change car at this stage in the season.
People like to quit when they have no chance and it's impossible to race with the much faster BMW's, just leading to collisions, like the BTCC turbo stuff at the moment.

Thanks.:)

But the thing is though you've already got the tyre/fuel depletion to remove the unexpectedly high tyre wear which is fair enough as it affects all cars but punishing us more is what I disagree with. I'd like parity but now is completely the wrong time. If this does go ahead then my opinion of this series has really gone down. I'm perfectly happy for a rule overhaul next season though.

Also, no problem :)

It's the exact same as the Toyota Altezza in season 1, that was a good 2-3 seconds a lap faster and it got limited by 200 kg's, which still wasn't enough as no-one could work the Honda properly and the Mazda was, well, slow.

It is a measure for this weekend. We will review it afterwards. It's not deliberate anti-BMW, it's the fact in race conditions, the BMW is that much faster. Thats very difficult to test with 1 or two people.

Already I am testing 4 new cars for Season 4 and also looking at ways to not punish the BMW's (should they stay).

This season the cars are still way closer than the last season, and to be honest there is never going to be a perfect grid, differing cars have differing characteristics. I am not perfect sadly, and it is impossible to regulate everything to ensure the cars are perfectly matched. The only way is via a one-make series.

I understand the BMW driver frustrations, but I don't recall the Toyota drivers complaining much in Season 1 when they got 200kg and a hefty power cut.

I have to keep things stable, and yes the BMW may be best, no denying that. But at the same time I have the balance of ensuring all the car's quirks are featured whilst ensuring it's close as possible.

That's why I am looking for an experienced driver to test for Season 4, as I have many studies and precious little time on my hands as of now.

Also the more input I have, the more data I have to work with and share with people. This season was way more ambitious than Season 2 in scope and in turn Season 4 will be more ambitious as well.

See you all at Monza, MrMulsanne

I'm not at all bothered by the 50KG weight increase. If it evens up the performance that's fine by me. :)

TEAM MRT have just arrived at Monza and will commence testing today hopefully.

Does anyone know what the problem with my headset may be? I won't scan in now since i've created my new account?
