Maybe... but that would've been the end of our R2... when you hit the tyres on turn 1 and I hit you immediately (I ended with both front wheels/suspensions damaged as well as my engine)

That's racing though, you will get caught in the odd incident through no fault of your own, it happens

And you maybe wouldn't have followed someone into the corner as closely and had time to react

GTP_RACECAR and I may have had a small lag problem in ITCC, it would've been huge if there were heavy damage; both of us would be out for good.

I know it wasn't your fault, just miscalculation... anyway I recovered and finished in the podium, so no harm done...

I've never really liked heavy damage, unless you're in a pretty high quality field you can 100% trust, there's a little too much worrying about whether or not someone will mess up and completely ruin your race just like that. I like to able to go for moves on people knowing that if something does go wrong, I'll probably only have a slight set back that I can recover from and if a penalty needs to be handed out it can be dealt with after.

And rightly so ;-)

It's a tricky one. This is the first series I've competed in where there is a level of contact that's deemed acceptable and it creates a grey area.

What I've noticed is that if you don't dish some out and you try to lay off people and race clean, you go backwards, very quickly. Throw in a damage setting that doesn't really carry many consequences and you end up with higher levels of contact than you probably originally intended or wanted to have, which in turn promotes even more contact and it spirals out of control lol

Yeh I agree that it has to be approached with the right mentality and a decent amount of nous and racecraft to work properly

Atleast from around my car, with the people I run against, it was a clean weekend apart from some contacts I found unnecessarily.

That's what penalties are for. I still find the rules very clear-cut. If you disadvantage another driver, regardless of circumstances, you're liable and responsible for your actions. I see no problem with that.

Little update:

Independents are Yeratel 340, Snowcrash 315.

Given BTCC/WTCC scoring types, that means that Snowcrash can only, at best, tie with Yeratel? And if yera shows up, and scores any points, he wins? Congrats yera!

Edit; nope, snowcrash still has a chance.

No - 60 pts up for grabs.

Since there are 60 points to win at Nurb, and snow is 35 pts behind Yera, snow has a chance to win the Independent championship.. a very small one..

That's fine in principle but if being 'disadvantaged' is the limit and everyone notified Furi of all the times they were disadvantaged tonight it would be unmanageable, hence a pretty big grey area.

I'm fine with it as it is, I knew what is was when I signed up (well I maybe didn't realise the extent of it at the time lol) and if I didn't want to race I wouldn't. I just think it makes things quite difficult to handle, glad i don't have to run it i guess :P

tonight the car was horrible, even an ocean liner can turn better than my car

now that my season is over as i'm missing next week.

i can still say i'm technically still reigning independent champion

ITCC had more incidents today. :indiff: But, even that's not the biggest hassle of running the show.

You mean hit the invisable tyres at T1..? Theres a glitch where you cut it close and the tyres basically jump out at you.. Happened to me and others in the JGTS1 D1 race, I was on for a 6th or 7th too, no easy task in PURE :P.

Now I remember why I hate Indy Road. I don't actually hate the track, but, in a race, when you overtake someone into turn 1, and continue to put almost a whole second on them through the infield, you get overtaken by three cars at the end of the straight ... that just doesn't feel right.

That, plus massively missing the braking point about three times in races 2 & 3, miraculously managing not to take anyone out, but losing lots of time, plus being bumped around quite a bit, resulted in a very modest point score.

Yeratel will basically just have to show up at the season finale to secure a well deserved 2nd in the championship and an independent title.

To all Mazda drivers: we need to put a good show at Nürb in order to pull a Dodge...

To all Mazda drivers.... Dodge could come back... ;)

I'm quite confused, but I guess with the Dodge thing you guys are talking about NASCAR right?

Yep... :sly:👍

Going slightly off-topic... I really don't understand Fiat's policy for Dodge brand... the Dodge Ram now is only know as Ram, and Dodge Viper is SRT Viper... are they trying to kill the name?
