Tokyo Motor Show - Now live - Video /photos, SLS, 458 & FT-86 playable

I'm not expecting anything, but it would be nice if they publicly unveiled the new GT5 trailer that journalists talked about being shown behind closed doors at TGS (the one in the city at night showing the new damage model with deformation etc).

That's kind of what I was thinking too. I'm not expecting much, but yeah, since Sony is sponsoring and GT WILL be there, I'm expecting a little something at least. Something is better than nothing, but if we don't get anything, oh well.

Sorry for opening that other TMS thread, I was being stupid.

That's being a little harsh on yourself. Lighten up, TMS is coming very soon. 👍

So anyway, today we saw the final part of the screenshots PD have released, they coincide nicely with the the opening week of the TMS, and just as the TMS is getting into full swing Forza 3 is to be released.

If Sony/PD want to really get the media attention on the GT series, the TMS is the place to do it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see the trailer that was previewed to the press during the PD tour, and if any other car company (fingers crossed for those who really want it, Porsche) is going to make it into GT5, the info will be released here.

With PD making a clear distinction that they will include hybrid cars in the game, and the theme of the TMS being 'green', it would be very good to see some of the green cars in action on the Tokyo Track.

Anyway, lets keep our hopes firmly low, if we don't see anything we'll be able to see all the new concepts Japan has to offer.

-> I would expect A LOT of things going to be happen at the TMS, but nothing too drastic like TGS.

-> Since I'll be covering the wish list regarding the event, so no worries! :)

-> The show will feature the FT-86 or maybe the much-rumoreed RX-7 concept. In which some of the upcoming concept/production cars will be featured all in Gran Turismo form. Maybe we could finally see a new race track... :sly:

^ I just added that car onto my log already. ;)

-> That vehicle might be too new to show in any GT5 demos, but we may never know. ;)

At the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 Gran Turismo Booth, visitors can try the latest release in the Gran Turismo series of games for the Sony Playstation. Players can choose from a vast selection of cars including famous models of both domestic and foreign manufacturers, old favorites, and even the latest models.
Also, visitors who bring a game software of "Gran Turismo" exclusive for the PSP® (on sale October 1st) to the booth along with their own PSP® will receive a special bonus gift.

I wonder what the gift will be?

On the dark side: I don't have many hopes for TMS since it's a MOTOR show, and PD doesn't even appear on the booth list (or at least when i checked). On the bright side: surprises are possible, aren't they? :dopey:. Please a track that isn't Tokyo R246, i beg you!!! Ohh wait...the show is in Tokyo...nevermind...

I was just thinking that the FT-86 GT promo video may have some bearing on the unveiling of the car itself at TMS. Maybe a demo featuring the car? Kind of like, "Here's the concept, and now you can drive it!" Eh, high hopes I guess. Not that I am actually going to be there to play it if they did do something like that. It would just be interesting to see/hear about.

I honestly don't expect to see too much about GT5.

-> I do recall that the Citroen GT, Lotus Evora, Nissan GT-R, and Ferrari California were introduced in a motorshow (I forgot which one) following with the introduction in GT5P. :sly:

-> So I'm kinda hoping for the same thing at this years TMS. :)

Why do all of your paragraphs have those arrows prepended to them?

OT, serversurfer-> Sorry, each to his own style. Besides, this is not the only forum that I use this style of posting (TQPI.net, S2Ki.com, etc.) and by far your're the first person who notices it for the past 3-4 years! By far, no one's been complaining! :sly:

BT-> KY has somewhat of a close relationship to most auto manufacturers, so he and the PD crew are already part of the motoring industry in some sort of a way (as evidenced in Motor Trend magazine. So we 'might' get some surprises in TMS after all!! :dopey:

That's nice but what they mean ''try the latest release'' ?
GT5 or GTPSP ?

Did anybody here really have any doubts, that GT5 wouldn't show up at the Tokyo Motor Show! Just hope there racing on a different track this time.

I expect a little bit of news yes. Nothing crazy but a bit of news just like we had in the past :embarrassed:

This isn't going to happen, but how cool would it be if the people who brought along their PSP got to export their car list into the GT5 demo... and drive a car they actually like.

If anyone is going can they please clear up the whole 20 location 70 variations mystery?

I suspect the people who show up with their PSP will get some sort of hybrid in a limited colour through Ad Hoc Car Sharing.

 Yeah, just clear it up, thats all.

I think Kaz will clear it up when he is ready, not when a fan ask him to. If I were there I would yell "SLACKER!" at him over, and over. :nervous:

I'm thinking it's a late build of GT5. The reason I say this is because the demo is for the "SONY Playstation," while they go on to point out, courtesy of Cudadude:

This could be a marketing goof, God knows we see enough of those, but the name Playstation has always referred to the console. We might get a few pleasant surprises at that.
