I have to say I have always felt more compelled by actually playing the game than the storyline. Let's hope for a good balance of both though.

The whole gameplay in all the old TR's were compelling enough! The isolation, the depth, the danger, the enemies and the emptiness just made the game for me. And Larr

Agreed, though I would add freedom to that. I really wish these new iterations were more sandboxy (yes that's a word) and flexible. OK you could argue the old games were linear in a sense but there seemed way more scope as to how you dealt with things. No handholding, no highlighting of key objects and please please no quicktime events, games have evolved since Dragons Lair, sheesh.

Square Enix today announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016. The game will be a console exclusive to X1 and X360 for one year after its initial launch, coming to PS4 in holiday 2016.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will premiere first, exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015.

The funny thing about this, and I have seen this before, is that the woman in the mocap suit is actually acting stiff and kinda robotic, as if she feels this is expected of her. We've come a long way since the floaty slo-mo CGI humans of old, but if you are going to use motion capture at least move realistically, fluidly, fallibly, humanly.

I feel like I am in the minority being more excited to play this today than Fallout 4. Mine is downloaded and ready to play, just need to make it through work!

I've played the whole franchise since the first Tomb Raider. Same with Gran Turismo ever since the first one. The whole timed exclusivity thing and Microsoft getting the game first is disappointing if you A don't have an Xbox One or B can't afford one and only have PS4.

I for one have been a long time loyal customer to Eidos and Core Interactive since Eidos / Core Interactive were bought by SE. But now that I also own Microsoft Xbox One since June July this year, it doesn't bother me so much. I don't hate Sony, SE, Microsoft for their actions. Yes Microsoft have money and influence and market dominance.

For me I don't care if I play the game on Microsoft rather than Sony as I've always done in the past. In one way I can see why for long time Sony and playstation customers feel neglected by not getting Tomb Raider when it has been an Exclusive to Sony platform. But theres nothing I can do about that and so I evolve and see past the past.

I bought myself into the Microsoft Ecosystem and buy myself some Microsoft games on the Microsoft platform. I'm no longer mad about the actions of SE and Microsoft getting the game first. I'll play it on Xbox One just the same. It could have been a good move for SE if Microsoft have given them enough money to make the next game even better or maybe make a better version on Sonys playstation platform.

In the end I don't hold grudges against companies and actions, I'm just glad that what matters or should matter the most is that I just love gaming. I don't care about the Exclusivity licence. I have both consoles and don't care which one I play the game on. Anyone who is a gaming enthusiast purest and fan should just own both consoles.

I can play games that are exclusive or not on whichever platform I choose. For Microsoft getting limited exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider, well maybe to satisfy those customers feelings who feel betrayed or neglected by a long time relationship with Sony, then maybe a future Xbox Exclusive game should be made a timed exclusive on Sonys console to try and make those feel happier if it all does or not is another matter.

I'm not one of those guys that is a fanboy though which loves arguing about which company or console is better. I just love both platforms and will play the game regardless of which platform its released on. I'm seeing past the past, not holding grudges like I said and will enjoy games on both consoles. I might even buy Rise of the Tomb Raider again on PS4 if I like it enough, I'll buy it again on that console too.

I pre ordered the game on Xbox One, downloaded and installed, can't wait to play it tomorrow. It looks really really good on Xbox and the graphics still look lovely for a next gen console. What I will love about the game is the bringing back of Lara's history so those who haven't played the franchise and the story get a sense of her past.

I'm also buzzed for SE bringing back the core gameplay that made Tomb Raider fun, that is the strategy of gameplay, raiding tombs, solving complex puzzles and that suspense and action that were in the past Tomb Raiders.

So I can't wait to play this game. Tomorrow can't come fast enough.

I'm kind of disappointed by the game. Maybe I have just been spoiled by the massive size of The Phantom Pain, which took me two and a half months to complete, but I have collected so much in just a few short hours that I have already finished 25% of this game and can probably finish it in two and a half days.
