Hello everyone, gt7 has been installing for like the past 2h and still 4h to go. Is this normal? I played the music rallies (last one was tough) but… why is this long time normal? Seems to be copying at a rate of 10-20mb/s

Ouch that sucks just seen some other guy who's been waiting 7hrs so far i wonder if its a base ps4 issue. I installed it to an external ssd on my PRO maybe took about a hour i wonder how fast the ps5 version installs ?

So I can’t find any information about ps5 disc drive speeds, definitely this is not normal. Is there a way to clean the drive or something?

You guys are talking about downloads but I am talking about disc install

…so I just read somewhere that being connected online can slow your disc installs as well. Thought this hall ended before some firmware versions, but looks like I was mistaken.
Stopped internet connection, deleted and restarted install. From 90mins to install the last 20gb now it asks for 1h altogether. Hope this piece of information helps someone else out.

Started mine downloading/installing on my old skool ps4 before work at 7am. Finished installing when kids came home from school at 4pm.
Glad I work from home as golded all the music rallies over lunch whilst waiting for the install to finish.
Managed to get to menu book 3 and gold all b licence before kids booted me off.

Insert discs and Install it. Take about an hour. Connect internet and download the 17gb update.
This is the 25th anniversary ps5 version. I spend 4 hours waiting to download and I gave up. Internet off and sorted.
Disc version installed but still downloading everything?
Went to game this morning and picked up my 25th anniversary edition, I wasn't risking waiting for the postman on my day off. Got home and slipped the disc and to get it installed and to my amazement it's now downloading 90odd GB of data and 4 more hours waiting. What was the point of the disc...

Guys, similar issues as detailed here. Very slow upload via wi-fi. Played the mini music rally game while loading and now this window displays every time I try to open up the full game. I delete a file (maybe the mini music rally) in settings, storage, console storage, saved data of 441.1 MB but it does not delete and the window appears again on fresh start up. Do I have to gold all three events to move on (as I read some others did not even play this game during installation). I later moved the console closer to the router and connect with LAN cable. Download was more acceptable running at around 20Mbps. Desperate to get started and configure and get my wheel plugged in. 2 daus of my lfe so far that I wont get back 😂

Judging by the conversation above, the slow installation issues seem to affect PS5 more than PS4.

if you leave the playstation connected to the internet when in srandby / rest mode and leave it download it will download faster. I'm noit sure if you're downloading via wifi but if the PS5 is the same as the PS4 then you are better off connecting the console through ethernet because the wifi is slow as hell. It took about an hour and a half to download on my PS4 slim and PS4 Pro via ethernet while leaving it download when the console was in standby mode.

You misunderstood my tone - I didn’t mean to offend you or anyone else - I am just bringing this up because it would be more common for downloadable versions to be slow depending on peak hours and also for PS4. The reason I put it like that is for people arriving in this thread to get a clear understanding that this happens in their brand new ps5 and disc which is really strange, and not get mixed up by everyone saying something different.
