When I say I want to order my car list by "manufacturer" then exit my garage, then come back...STAY ORDERED BY MANUFACTURER!!!:banghead:

Thats one thing i wanted since gt3, morons still didn't fix that...:grumpy:

1. when you buy a new car that it has road tires not semi slicks.
2. turnsignal so i can turn it on to go in the pits. :D
3. for the motortuning real things not only turbo stage 3 , no i want a t66 turbo and things like that on all motor tuning.
4. an airstrip to drive on (has to be fun)
5. more small circuits from all around the world
6. maybe some videos from a cars background if you unlock it , might be very cool.
7. i wanna put my headlights on somethimes but i cant now so i want that changed.
8. an onboard dash view , like to drive that way .

20. that if you stand still before the race you have to start the engine then a warmup lap and then a flying start because now it is loading and im not watching and there is the flying start and on tsukuba im always late :D

this are my ideas for gt5 , but how are the makers of gt knowing all this can anybody explain that to me please :)

sorry i forgot something very important ....

... :D ...

engine swaps really gotta have that in GT5 , and i wanna pop the hood somethimes to see whats under it :D :D

i dont know 20. but i have 1. they should make an f1 series like in real life with all the f1 tracks they used in the f1 series. id race that

David Letterperson's TOP 20 Changes to GT5....

5. Online play :dunce:
4. More tracks/cars :dunce:
3. Cockpit view w/ accurate interiors
2. Hot, bikini-wearing female pit crews/spectators/drivers/etc....

And... the number 1 change to GT5 (which isn't really a change at all)......

NO RICER CRAP!!

- More realistic view. I dont like the atop or behind view at all. The view where you see nothing but the track isn't that great. I'd like to have maybe some dashboard and some of the front hood.

- AI - currently too perfect in some ways.

- Damange / mech failures. Buy a better crew to prevent failures.

- Open up all cars for arcade mode. PPL buy the game expecting to drive cars, not "earn" the most exotics by going through days of races and tests. Ability to test drive before buying.

- Wrecks and pace cars in GT mode races.

- More tuning tips and help. Tuning analyzer or extensive FYI.

1 - Up to and including 20 cars on track
2 - Much, much, much better AI
3 - Get rid of rally mode
4 - Failing that, get rid of the badly implemented 5 second penalty.
5 - Currently there is the full set of Japanese Touring Cars, so how about some others? British (BTCC), German (DTM), World (FIA), Austrtalian V8's, American NASCARs.
6 - Nike 2022? Mercedes Benz thing from 1892? Jay leno's Tank Car? No thanks, give me cars i can use.
7 - The big american jeep/truck things... lose them. Buy one for the purpose of 3 races and then sell it. Pointless if you ask me.
8 - All these lightweight, 20-year-old Japanese 'K' cars, we dont need those either.
9 - A more race meeting like feel to the races. Flags, qualifying, a podium celebration maybe?
10 - More real life tracks, possibly scrapping most/all of the fictional tracks.
11 - More varients of single seaters. F1, CART (or whatever its called these days), etc

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

edit:

12 - Harking back to the GT2 days... I'd like to see brought back the option of when you've fully modded and upgraded your car, being able to turn it into a race car, choosing the livery style and colours. I used to love doing that with my cars.

By Classic AnycarSUVs could work, but only car-based SUVs such as the Tracker, X5, or CR-V. Trucks should be limited to sport trucks like Xtreme, Lightning, and Typhoon.
I disagree. Any trucks and SUV's should be allowed in the game. I find them all to be real cool, and would like a simulation game with them in it, not an arcade game. Also, I'd like to point out that the Chevy/Geo Tracker is not car-based, but is a body-on-frame design making it truck-based. Plus, almost all car-based SUV's suck! They have the crappy fours and sixes of the crappy cars their chassis' come from! The truck-based ones are where all the power is at! Same with the trucks, who wants just sport trucks? What I really want to see is a Ram 3500 with the Cummins or the Silverado/Sierra 3500 with the Duramax throwing black exhaust smoke into the crowd!

The reason I don't want trucks is because trucks don't belong on a racetrack unless they've been modified to do so. The only reason trucks have all that power is because they need it to tow or haul. They are too heavy to go fast unless modified to be lighter. The sport trucks are race-ready already. If you want to race in a Silverado Dually, put it on the Midtown Madness wishlist. That is a true driving game. GT is a racing game that uses unmodified cars alongside tuner cars and racecars. Racing is not for trucks & SUVs, nor is it for vans.

Online mode: Racing, and possibly even selling cars online.
Racing modifications: Need I explain this one?
British Circuits: Such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch...
Hillclimbs and Point-to-point Sprints
All cars able to race
More classic hot hatches: Such as Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9, Ford Fiesta XR2...
Point-top-point rallying. What happened to the Pikes Peak course?
Optional pit babes. :D

AI

AI

& AI

they by far are the most important part of the game besides the handeling physics - the AI are the games representatives - they are what you face off against & they are what give you competition

GT so badly needs better AI

Here are my suggestions. Some have been mentioned by others of course, but since GT5 is still being worked on ...

1) Better AI - tunable, so we could race against better drivers than ourselves in order to better ourselves

2) Better car selection - as diverse as possible - if we can have 30 Skylines, we should have every Aston Martin, MG, Mustang, or every Porsche if the license can be obtained

3) Allow better tire selection, ie, based on real tire selections from different manufacturers (I know, more licensed objects!)

4) Give us a paint shop, car graphics (stripes, numbers, etc), including no-paint like the MBs of 1950s

5) Real time car damage, including tires going down, flats, blow outs, bad brakes, and body damage

6) As a race car uses fuel, it should get slightly faster, just like in real life

7) Handling should change over different surfaces in the same race

8) The presence of oil, gas and tire rubber should change the handling on the racing surface

9) Weather changes, including different weather around a course, just like in real life

10) Extreme lighting changes, ie, day and night, track lighting, and of course head and tail lights (including reverse lights on production cars)

11) Ability to save replays on USB flash drives or other removable media

12) More tracks goes without saying

13) Real rally races, including co-drivers to do timing, etc on real multi-stage courses

14) On-line play in all modes, that way one could get a quick race in arcade mode against your buds

15) On-line play with championships, races scheduled by the racers so all races don't have to be done in one session

16) True class racing, ie, like in the SCCA, or multi-class racing like in ALMS, Rolex, Le Mans, etc

17) In conjunction with Logitecha and others - better wheels and controls - including a clutch that could be used with cars that actually have a clutch - paddle shifters should only work with cars that actually have paddle shifters available! Shifting should be able to be more like real shifting, including missing shifts, skipping gears as you shift, etc. If a car only has a sequential gear box, that is what should be available

I'm sure there's more to ask for, but this is all I can think of at the moment.

All I can say - is bring it on :nervous:

1) Online mode will be the most important thing, by FAR. No matter how good the AI is, humans will always be better, (at least in the forseeable future). If GT5 is exactly like GT4, just with a well thought out online mode, I'll be happy. I'll say more about what I think a well thought out online mode should be.

2) AI will get better, but I doubt it will be close to as good as human competition, so I really don't care too much about it.

3) Include one race where I can choose my competition. I want to be able to set up any race, with any cars. This can't be difficult to include. If I want a field of all <insert favorite car here>s, I want to be able to do that. If I want to see how well a souped up Mini does against a field of big heavy higher-horsepower cars, make it easy for me to set that race up.

4) More cars on the track. We'll get that.

5) License points, like in Prolouge. You'd get 10 points for a bronze, 50 for a silver, 100 for a gold, plus extra depending on how much faster you beat the gold time. It makes license tests fun, even after you've beaten them once, and is one good way of showing how good of a driver you are. Since there are fewer tests than races, this can make a better comparison tool that A-spec points. I got all golds, which means I'm not a bad driver, but others had over 1000 points more than I had. Impressive!

6) A-spec points; Make huge changes, or get rid of it entirely. It's meaningless as it is, but it has potential to be another comparison tool.

7) B-spec mode; keep it. I can't be bothered with more than 2 hours of racing at a time. Some of you can, good for you, but there should be a way to complete a 24 hour race without sitting there for 24 hours. Even if you can save in the middle, I don't want to do 12 2-hour races. Plus, it's an interesting insight into how the AI (might) work.

8) Photo mode; I don't care for it, but some do, so keep it. Someone earlier mentioned video mode, I think we'll get that too.

9) It's ok to have old, slow cars, (there might be someone of this earth who likes driving them), but don't make them prize cars. Who wasn't severely disapointed to win the StepVan? I have no desire to get all golds on the super license and win... a Model T.

10) A well thought-out online mode. People of all levels of skill race in this game, and there needs to be a way to make sure you're getting good competition in your races. Aside of all the other restrictions, like FF/FR/etc., HP, etc. that you can choose from, there should also be classes for license points in maybe A-spec points. Someone with all gold licenses won't have fun racing against someone with all bronzes, and vice-versa; theres just too much of a skill gap.

11) Damage: I don't crash often, but when I do, it would usually be a race-ending crash in real-life. I kinda like the unrealistic way that I just lose time for the crash, and then can continue on my way. I'm not sure I'd like a change.

my top 7 list(for now, i dunno if my wishes will change sometime down the road, and 20 is too much for me right now). the order might not be in order too. but theyre things i would really like to see.
8: physics
there were a few things that got to me, but nothing big. not having abs on all the time would have been nice. low speed physics like ebrake turns and car rotation
7: auto-x/gymkhana
this is why i wanted the lowspeed physics upped. for this mode. i really hope they add it, with customizable maps that you can put online so you could have online weekly autocross competitions and whatnot. letting someones natural skill play a big part instead of course memorization and repetition would play a big role in this mode.
6: better AI
the AI enhancement from the first GT games have barely been noticable, if at all(or atleast to me). whats the fun beating the crap out of a moron(or atleast offline and without friends. if its against a real person, i don't care as long as i win cleanly)
5:a larger field.
25 would be nice, but a minimum of 15. not sure if this will actually play out though. you would have thought that with the ps2's leap from ps1, we would have seen a larger field, but they focused so much on graphics that the field wasn't really expanded. this MIGHT happen with GT5, but with the GT video demos that are currently out, it looks as if the field is quite abit larger, but with minimal graphical enhancements, not that they really need to hike them up polygone wise, but just need to up the skin resolution of the cars. also, if they up the field and up the AI, along with the graphics, thats alot of processing. is the PS3 up to that? i sure hope so.
4: increase in photomode options and all that jazz
the photomode in gt4 was amazingly fun to play with. excluding license tests, i probably spent the most time in photomode. though of course there were a few things that could have made it so much greater. 2 player/LAN photomode would have been very sweet. being able to take pictures of multicar drifting would have been awsome. another aspect that would have been neat to see would have been being able to take composite pictures where a stationary camera would take perhaps 6 pictures in a span of 1 second, and superimpose the car/cars all onto 1 picture, like an action shot. im also hoping for a higher resolution photomode. i think the photomode in gt4 was around 3.2 megapixels? id like to see... say... 5 megapixels so printing bigger pictures would be better. you were able to print out decent 8x10 in gt4, but they often came out slightly pixelated and the colours were sometimes blocky. of course, this is just me. im sure around half the people who have gt4 barely even touched photomode, but it seriously is alot of fun to get good pictures.
3: better graphics/textures
I feel like this isn't important, but at the same time, i feel like it'll make or break the game. it would also improve photomode, so i guess it makes 2 things better. some of the backgrounds just looked horrible when in photomode. you could litterally, and very easily, count the blocks that made up trees and whatnot. cars could also use a good tuneup texture wise. ill add lighting in here too.
2: the integration of this doohicky: http://www.exn.ca/news/video/exn2006/01/23/exn20060123-headset.asx
i think if they added support to a device like this, it would bring the game waaaay above any game before it. it would add so much dimension to the game, so much feel. i seriously believe that if you were racing seriously with this device on, you could have someone next to you ask you a question, but your mind would be so much into the game that you wouldn't even notice them. this would be the biggest inovation in racing games since the addition of the first person view. im pretty sure we won't be seeing it in gt5, but i sure hope we'll see it sometime in the near future for racing games.
1: online play
seriously, they need online play badly. this would also make a good AI almost useless to me.

Awaji Islander
Online mode will be the most important thing, by FAR. No matter how good the AI is, humans will always be better,

Aah, here's where you're wrong. Offline mode will still be the most important part of any GT this gen (PS3 gen of course). A decent offline mode without online options is a lot more desirable than a decent online mode but flawed singleplayer.

You say "humans will always be better", but this isn't always true. In fact, it's only true in a minority of cases, and searching for these decent players online may turn out to be a frustrating job (and it most likely will). So decent AI is still more important, because even with a good online mode, you'll still need computer controlled opponents.

Not to mention the bulk of the game will still be played offline. One could ask "why not do the entire carreer online?". Yes that's a nice idea, but should only be an option. Even in these times, no developer can count on it that everyone has a decent enough internet connection, or is even willing to play his entire game online. So even in that case, there should still be a decent offline mode for these players.

AI and physics, these should be the main points in any future GT. Only if these features are satisfactory will the game benefit from an online mode.
I'd love a great online mode, but I'd play the offline part first. That said, I won't be content with a GT5 that supports online multiplayer while the AI hasn't improved much, that's an easy solution, and not a nice one. I will, however, be content with great AI an no online, although I'd still rather have them both.

This is my top ten. I'm too lazy to think of 20 changes:

1 - better AI
2 - better physics
3 - 20+ cars in every race
4 - Dynamic weather
5 - Day/Night
6 - Mid race saves (in the endurance races)
7 - More real tracks (Spa on top of list)
8 - More european cars
9 - More american cars
10 - Less japanese cars

more australian cars!!!
better ai 👍

When you want to save your best lap replay, JUST SAVE THE BEST LAP..not every single bloody lap you've driven! :banghead:

And you should be able to create your own series with your own desired set of criteria. Players should also have the option to demand an entry fee so the winner takes the jackpot!

Nattefrost- I agree with you on some points. When I play GT4 now, I spend most of my time just doing hot laps with a car I like, trying to beat my own best time. In that regard, I'm happy with GT4, and I'll probably spend a lot of time doing the same in GT5. But when I want to RACE, I can't do that in GT4, because the AI sucks. I want to test my skills against someone with similar ability, and there's no good way to do that now.

As far as finding decent players online, all I can say is, I know it could be a problem, you know it could be a problem, so HOPEFULLY PD knows it could be a problem too, and they're thinking about a way to make it work. Hopefully.

GT4 is just a driving simulator as far as I'm concerned. The AI won't be improved enough by GT5 to make realistic racing. However, if I can connect my realistic driving simulator to lots of other realistic driving simulators, then we've got a racing simulator.

-> I have some on my list too (in no particular order):

1. More Cars- There are so many cars that were over looked in the past, not just LamPorFerra. :indiff:

2. More Tracks- 50 tracks is still not enough to play with our vast amount of cars. :indiff:

3. Refining the car that are designated on certain countries- Example: Ford USA, Ford Europe, etc.

4. Reverse lights that work- This has been a problem since GT1, and NFS3: Hot Pursuit on PS1 has this feature first. :ouch:

5. Random weather changes- Or if possible (since PS3 is online-ready) live weather forcasts on real world tracks like Nur, Suzuka, Infenion, etc. :)

6. Random day changes for races 5 hrs. and up- Well duh, its essential for endurance races. :indiff:

7. An option to switch your headlights on or off- I know its more on the cosmetic side but, I like to switch off my lights during at night. :)

8. More aftermarket options- What I mean is REAL aftermarket parts, not those what you see on NFS:U, MC: DUB, etc.

9. A little bit better A.I.- I'd like to see the AI a little bit more challenging but fun to compete with, not a overpowered batter ram.

10. Online interaction- I think this is the only weapon (for XB & XB360) against the PS series, I hope to see a wholesome version for GT fans. (:

11. Interactive garage- This was discussed before on the other thread, I like to see my garage form a storage mess, to a 50 car warehouse showroom garage. (:

12. Realistic pricing on parts- C'on, Cr40,000 on racing soft tires!? :indiff:

13. Horsepower Restrictions- That is why GT2 is so engaging/challenging.

14. Boost Control (for modified turbo-powered cars)- This was featured in GT1 before, how come since then they ignored it?

15. Canyon/Mountain tracks- If it worked with Kaido Battle and Initial D, why not?

16. 3D Race officials- I like to see a checkered flag waving as I cross the finish line.

17. No 5 car Rally Races- The race will be highly complicated and ridiculus, unless if it will be a rallycross event.

18. Improve the games soundtrack- This I can agree with anybody, GT4's OST suck.

19. Random capacity on crowds from grandstands- For example, if you're doing a Time Trial there will little or no crowds around you. As the races gets more prestigeous (excuse my spelling) the crowds gets more and more packed.

20. More replay functions/options- When I like to see a spectacular manuever, I'd like to see over again right away, not repeating the whole 18 laps of it.

(:

I would have to agree with most of these suggestions. The biggest issue for me would be class racing. It is ridiclious to have a rally car and touring cars racing against GT cars. Perhaps we should be able to choose our opposition or what class of car should be eligible in the series. If I want to race the Real Circuit Tours in a classic car or a touring car I should be able to race against similar cars. Maybe the game could set the field based on what car you have and what level of tuning it is.
Also, we should be able to race our own cars in arcade mode. This would make it easier for people to setup an OLR series if proper on-line racing is not included.

I think a lot of people here have brought up some really good ideas and thoughts. I’m basically going to build on them.

The GT series touts itself as being a simulation racer and it is arguably the best at doing this. But there is a lot that can be improved on in the next iteration of the series. After 4 titles, the basic recipe has not changed. I think it is time to spice it up.

First off...the interface. Make it less menu-driven and more interactive. The GT world should just be that...a world. When I go to a dealership to buy a car, I imagine being in a showroom full of sparkly brand new cars where all models of a particular brand are represented. Imagine the 'camera' floating from car to car as you make your way through the selection. Detailed specs and a short history are displayed for each car and not missing from some like they are in GT4. Take it out for a test drive too, while you are at it...anything that lets you connect with the car before you buy it.

I also think there should be a central garage where you keep, tune, and modify your cars. This atmosphere will be similar to the dealership. It will be an interactive environment and not just a black screen with a car rotating around. In your garage, you will have all sorts of modifications that you can do to your car. If you've played Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, you know how addicting this can be. Pure work of arts can be created because your imagination is the limiting factor. We are talking custom paints, wheels, body kits, graphics, colors, tailpipes, hoods, chopped tops, etc, etc, etc. You can create a Rice Runner, G-Ride, American Hot Rod, and anything in between. In a sense, you will be able to create cars that you take to shows, rather than races.

The next area that needs complete development is an online system. I imagine a system where higher status is obtained by performance within your career as a racer. The higher status you obtain throughout your career, the more elite group you will be able to race against; just like in real life. This system would have a similar design or feel as an RPG. How awesome would it be to have this system coupled with damage to create a true racing experience? If you crash, it will cost you. Maybe some might think that this can’t be possible because other players could selfishly cause an accident to sabotage others’ career. But those racers wouldn’t be able to get to that level without risking their own career as well.

To generalize, GT5 needs to be Americanized. And no place more does it need to be Americanized than in the music department. I am almost embarassed to turn on GT4 with my friends because of the terrible soundtrack.

The list keeps on getting longer....
1. More cars (which looks to be reality)
2. Better AI (although, with online play described above, I would NEVER
race a computer).
3. A fairer distribution of the cars represented.
4. An online marketplace where you can buy and sell cars in an auction
type environment
5. Realistic damage.

Basically, there are no limits. I imagine that someday the GT franchise will become all this and more. When it does, help me, because I will want to do nothing else than play this game all day and all night to become the number one ranked racer in the world.

I'd like to see day/night/day transitions in 24 hour races.

I'd like the rally physics to go back to whatever model they were using for GT3. I've driven on sand, gravel, and snow/ice IRL. For the most part it isn't the "olive oil on glass" affair we are currently enduring.

I would like to be able to save in the pits on enduros. Yes, it would be like running a series of the same race over and over. But I would get the satisfaction of running it my own damn self.

B-Spec Bob is good, but I'm not all that fast, and I can blow Bob into the weeds! And, I get better tire wear than he does.:irked:

If A-Spec is going to stay, could it actually do something? i.e.
*discounts on parts for every 2500 points (particularly tires) (or some other arbitrary number.) It would encourage running the higher point value races.
*AI gets smarter with every 2500 points (up to a point)
*Hard to get/win cars become purchaseable whe you get so many points.

I'd also like to get an arcade mode that has the selection motif of GT4, but was more like GT3 in practice.

If SSR-11 returns, It must return with both versions. After all we have numerous versions of Fuji, and both versions of LeSarthe.
Also, Hong Kong must be scrapped. It's so bad, that I actually miss SSR-11.

While, I'd like Red Rock Valley back, I'd be really happy if Rome and Rome Night made it into the next game.

And while we're at it, most of us are gear-head car enthusiasts. Could we dump some of the drab econoboxes for some "driver's cars"?

Also, could we get a decent manual that tells us:
What all the symbols mean in B-Spec
What affects the number of A-spec points you get
A real tuning guide.

And for Pete's sake, could the game be well and truly compatible with more than one Steering Wheel?
I think it sucks that the "Hot Ticket" wheel for GT3, won't work at all For GT4.
It's bad enough that we have to shell out $50 for the game. But to have to spend $400 for both wheels is beyond the pale.:irked:
It would also be nice if the wheels we're more "user friendly".
It gets real old having to re-calibrate the wheel every time you have to get up. Much less re-calibration being required every time the PS2 is turned on.
My F-16 Flightstick for the PC was "sensitive" and touchy, but I only had to re calibrate it every 6-10 weeks.

If the ps3 comes with a hard drive then i would like to be able to record my own music to play while gameing as on the xbox. And download track and cars from on line also as on xbox....

I made many suggestions at this link near the top of the thread. But I have a few more.

Gran Turismo Set-up Mode
Master settings determine how your Gran Turismo game looks and sounds.

- Overall schemes such as classic GT1, 2, 3 or 4, including music tracks. Include the Japanese/American/European game elements of each.

- Themed schemes with both graphic and audio elements such as metal/rap/extreme, futuristic with atmospheric, prog rock or techno music, vintage 50s rock/jazz, etc.

- User themes, allowing you to use basic skins to configure your own look, and audio tracks as you choose. Include the capability to install your own music in wav, mp3/4, ogg etc. Download music from Polyphony/Sony or any approved site.

- Save different schemes in your user profile.

Additional gameplay element suggestions

- Keep Arcade and Classic Gran Turismo simulation elements, such as driving tests/school, coffee breaks, car awards for winning races, unlockable tracks and cars.

- Keep B Spec mode. Include a C Spec mode in which an instructor takes you around a race course to show you how it's done.

- Keep the current race cam modes, and add cockpit cam, and perhaps a more distant behind car view.

- Include Season Mode and Career Mode, which either open up when a certain percentage of the game is completed, or certain objectives have been cleared. Career Mode either starts you off from scratch as in classic Gran Turismo simulation mode mode, or picks up from Simulation mode when objectives have been cleared.

I'd prefer starting over, but I'm not picky on this. The reason I'd prefer to start over is because of the awarded vehicles in GT Simulation mode. I'd rather this be almost like an RPG mode in which you have to earn everything legitimately. You have to start with a decent but not massive budget to buy a race-worthy car and start off in the enthusiast league, winning SCCA-type races, and the awards are cash and trophies, not cars. You have to fight your way through the ranks and attract sponsors, and of corse the better you do, the more and better sponsors want to contract you, giving you a bigger budget and perhaps quality racing gear like tires and parts. From the SCCA-type class, you graduate into a chosen pro field, such as Rally, Touring Car, CART, F1, etc.

Play under your user ID as long as you want, continuing for years if you want.
