Top Gear Test Track

Shadow Fox
I suppose it's only going to be used for time trial and well testing your car's ability. There is no way you can possibly race on that track considering that the cars would intersect each other at the Chicago sections and Followthrough.

Destruction Derby? :P

Indeed. Some artistic licence could be used with regards to elevation.

Listen to Famine.

The ORIGINAL Stig WAS Perry McCarthy.

However, I'm almost certain that the current Stig is a different man (or woman (sorry - unlikely(apologies Miss 'Exception to the Rule' (I would) Kidd))).

Here's why:

The current 'Stig' is not anywhere near as smooth or as confident a driver as 'the original Stig'. This is a fact. They are very, very different.

Watch the laps; watch the current bloke struggle with the wheel............

THE STIG was smooth, right?..........

Both drive very well, the new Stig is turning in similar lap times. They drive with s different style, I don't think the current Stig struggles any more than the last one did though. I preferred Perry's Stig but it was his decision to go and not TopGears or the BBC.

This may sound stupid to the other members but I always thought that the stig was Richard Hammond (because of his size).

Does the fact he used to be a DJ on Radio Cleveland now make you feel daft for saying that? :sly:

True, very true.

You're right - he's not struggling with the car itself, but as I said the wheel. Maybe it's me but it seems the first Stig was more of a fluid (and maybe more experienced?) driver. But yes, the lap time discrepancies are really non-existant.

Anyway, Top Gear and JC rule! 👍

I don't want to go back to my primary school days but... Hands up if you want to beat the Stig's times!

yea! and when you drive there you should hae the stigs helmet. In 2 player mode you could have the white stig, and the original black stig!

hah hah id love the top gear track in GT5, it would kick ass and then the lisences can be narrenated by the stig himself/herself!!! The future looks good for the stig im tellin' ya!

And who was the Stig whilst Johnny Herbert was at Le Mans for 2 weeks?

Your friend who's dad's friend's friend's friend is friends with Johnny Herbert's friend's friend's dad's friend is spinning you a line to create some respect for himself. Roshambo the little git.

💡

I just thought, if you have the top gear track, it kinda means you can make your own top gear show!!! 'Oh yes on todays episode we have the new ferrari, lambo AND a merc porsche audi and BMW shoot out!!' oh how awesome it would be....

That was the FIRST Stig - Perry McCarthy. The current Stig is not the first Stig - he was "killed off" driving a Jaguar XJS on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.

to see that clip go here and click your conection speed under the pic of the acf carrier...... :dopey:

as for Damon Hill and the Stig:

about the same hight, slightly different shoulders though........but notice one thing: the shadows are different.....the stigs is almost strait down while Damon's is angled off to his right.......i smell photoshop.....

The guy on the right of that picture isn't Damon Hill. It's Christopher "Dr. Who" Ecclestone.

I only just started watching Top Gear. But, for some weird reason and even though he may be a bit too tall, I reckon "The White Stig" is Matt Neal.

who ever the drivers are, they all can drive pretty well. i think one of them is the guy who learned the grand ma's to do the donuts with the s2000..

That was funny ;) Neocrox, you may be right :) i also think it's that guy......Him or that F1 driver that drove the tire comparison test with the red Clio 172 in Jeremy-Clarkson- No Limits

1) I'd love to play with GT5 cars on the Top Gear Track in the next incarnation

2) Anyone thought about "The Stig" being Tiff Needel or Johnny Herbert?

Guys I think its Tiff Needel for sure, he is a brilliant driver it has to be him he's crazy.
That helmet the Stig weres is a Simpson Bandit, cost over £300 for one they look even meaner when they are air brushed with the predetor face etc.

Would be good to see how the Stig got on playing GT4. :) :)

Just because Tiff Needel is on the rival 5th Gear program on Channal 5 there shouldn't be any reason why he isn't the stig

Well, in the meantime, we could "simulate" the Top Gear track. I had this thought right around the time that GT4 came out, when I had a whole collection of TG episodes on my computer.

Find a track in GT4, where the best drivers from this board can get around the same lap times as the Stig does on the TG track. Take the following examples, using cars that are in GT4:

McMerc SLR: 1:20.9
Ford GT: 1:21.9
Zonda C12S: 1:23.8

If we could find a GT4 track that can yeild those same times (i.e. Midfield, or a track of around the same length, with different types of corners), then we have our own "version" of the TG track, that we can use to compare times.

i saw it an hour ago. I knew that the iceland off-roaders could race over water, but what i didn't know is that you could do it with a snow scooter. And it was faster then the off-road monster!
and for the track. *hands up* as long as the music isn't the same as the music the stig listens to :)

imho...it wouldnt really make sense to base your whole system of timing cars around a track and worshipping the list religiously if there wasn't some constant i.e. the driver...i have no idea of who the stig is..nor do i really care...but to have some sort of reliable testing procedure i would think that it would have to be ONE person...not 4 or 5. just my opinion tho....
p.s. i love top gear but jeremy clarkson can be a real *&%^ing idiot sometimes. everytime the guy gets into a flipping TVR he has to describe the way it drives like Thoreau writes about a lake. just pin the thing and tell us how fast it is for godsakes.
p.p.s. 10 minutes around the nurbugring in an aston martin? WOW you should be REAL proud. i ran a passat vr6 wagon in 9.10 and i don't even drive cars for a living.
