The "I am a driving god!" bloke was on last series. Richard something...

The portly chap - who was a dealer-bullier - has just... vanished. James May has turned up, but he's really a Mk2 Clarkson - as he showed on previous Top Gear and in the magazine.

I KNEW he was familiar! He is genuinely witty though. I've laughed a lot at his pieces, and in the interactions, he's got a real spark that works well with Clarkson's wit which can sometimes be a bit obvious and overbearing.

I really like this Top Gear format.

im not a great fan, i thought he was clarkson's brother since he's so similar, but to be honest a i prefer 5th gear now. not a fan of vicky b-h but quentin and tiff are good. clarksons car opinions are a bit too much at some points. he always has a go at the germans yet he sold he 355 (what he called the best car in the world) for an sl55. i would have done the same but i think he should respect people's opinions more. and the daihatsu on the last show CAN'T be classified as a good car, no matter what its place was/is on the cool board heh

Wow, I'm watching the episode of 5th Gear where they have a look at the Zonda C12S...What can i say!

yeah i am a bit sad now that the series has ended for dream machine and 5 gear but i miss them restoring classic cars on dream machine but new series of top gear cool!

anyone else feel that clarksons assessment of the z8 was unfair? if the car looks great (which is somewhat of a rareity for bmw currently) and is fast, why put it down so much? he didn't like the handling but that v8 sounded glorious, if i had more money than brains and wanted a cruiser i'd probably get that... not many v8 convertibles available that are as comfortable or luxurious... oh yeah and it is as fast as a lamborghini around the track! :P

Mclaren F1 :D Hell yes... oh and nough said (V look sig V) i thought that was the funniest show ever  The new series is the best ever. I nearly died when they didn't show it last week. But it's on again this week :) It's just so funny, Clarkson is fantastic. Oh and the cool board is perfect because it is so obviously just what JC thinks and not what most others think

'best' is such a vague word. best performance would have to be the maclaren F1, or even F1 LM, no question about that.

'best' workmanship could be something like a benz or more probably a rolls royce, i personally think the silver shadow II was the best ever rolls royce (in the looks department).

'best' looker in my opinion would be a porsche carrera GT, or a 996 GT3. maybe an F40 too, but i've really developed at taste for porsches recently.

whereas 'best' overall would be something that made a difference to people's lives, something that made cars affordable and accessible to all. maybe the model T ford would fit in well here. though a small car like the ford fiesta was also a smashing success, i've driven several and i love them, they are practical for a city environment and the interior is very well layed out, if you're not looking for performance what more do you need in a car?

i don't think there is a car that can satisfy all those categories, the mclaren F1 is beautiful, performs well and has a certain element of practicality (it has space for 2 passengers and your golf clubs! :D) but is horrendously over priced and even if you had the money you may be hard pushed to find one.

to me the most important thing about a car is that it should have excellent performance but not at the expense of reliability. the car should also look good and be practical when u need it to be (i.e. carrying a few suitcases and a couple of ur friends). although i've never driven one, taking into account the above and basing it on many other people's opinions i'd say the BMW M5 fits this description perfectly. in terms of looks i'd have to go for the e39 but im sure they are all superb in their own right, so that would be my choice as the 'best' car. though i don't think top gear even has that on their list!!! heh

There was a choice of 10 cars, it wasn't just any car. So i voted for the F1

MG: I'm a Dedworth lad :D I've just finished school in St B's in Sla, so i know the langley area quite well now

i know, in my opinion that list was totally lame, i mean why was a taxi there? (and i understand the guy's point, but its not really a car is it? its more of a utility vehicle)

out of that list i'd choose the f1 too

Hmmm, this show about the Van, did it have something to do with Posties? And they had to race around a track in a race prepped Ford Transit (I think...) van??

I think I might've seen that on TV here once.

And one of them broke a wing mirror.

Me too I take 'best' to mean the most glorious, awesome road car that does the job a car should do regardles of cost then it has to be the F1,but as Nightmage says there are so many different ways a car can be the 'best'.

Whatwhatwhat? Could have sworn I put him on...

Must be 'cos I'm on the new computer ATM, and the old computer holds all the URLs... :D I'm downloading a nice image-treatment package currently, so I'll be doing a round of adding later on :D
