Touring Car discussion - WTCC, BTCC etcTouring Cars

I'd like two short sprint races and then one longer race with a compulsory pitstop in BBTC to be honest.

Pit stops were lame last time they were in the BTCC - they were only brought in to prevent the same teams and drivers winning all the time and to create random results!
There are plenty of other series which show off team work in pit stops and longer races and strategy - but to me touring cars is about short, exciting, bumper-to-bumper racing with little care for strategies.

Making the races longer and enforcing pit stops turns it into yet another GT series - there is already a strong British GT series.

OK8
I personally wouldn't change a thing about the BTCC format.

Agreed, though maybe I would simplify the points system.

Funny that. Touring car races have only been this short in recent years.

Your right about pit-stops though. Now that I think about it I remember seeing some of them!

I suppose the reason I'd like the races to a a bit longer is because I'm sure at least part of the bash to pass action I find distasteful is caused by a need to get to the front soon or it will be too late.

I thought pit stops were brilliant when introduced in 1998. Oulton Park was the best pit stop race that year.

I far prefer the new Civic over the old one. But I prefer the good old Integra Type R over all of them.

Andy Jordan's Pirtek sponsorship forever looks good on any car, though I preferred the orange-flared effect they used on the Vectra - the Civic livery still looks great though.

I also prefer the straighter-lines styling of the Dynamics-Honda livery compared to the rounded-style livery of the old Civic.

Jeff Smith's in the second Pirtek Civic. Jordan has yellow rims, Smith with red. Smith's car under construction.

Wouldn't be so sure. RAR are struggling for a budget and want, more likely need, a driver who'll bring in money. Rumours are he's after Turkington, but if not someone with a wad of cash.

Swanwick drove the car today and apparently Mr. Hazell is no longer interested in driving the car. Meaning we're likely to see Austin &/or Swanwick in the Audi.

Some people are just never happy. Oh deary me. Few I bet will be thinking too much about the sponsorship and colours if Plato starts beating Matt Neal and doing well.

Whether it looks good and whether it does well are two different questions. And this MG is not a good looker.

I like Plato. I always want him to do well. I like RAR too, because they have a nice car. Gotta love the A4.
