Toyota shows TRD models at SEMA.
They have sportier suspensions, larger wheel & tires and free-flowing exhausts but no powertrain upgrades.

And the mid '00's with the SS "Appearance package" on the Cobalts, the Malibu SS, etc, etc.

The '00-'05 Impala LS and SS got a 3.8L engine (200, 240 HP respectively) instead of the 180 HP 3.4 in the base model.

My dad's got an Avalon XLE Sport Edition (see below).

How would this one be any different (aside from cosmetics)?

I know that. My point was that cars like the Cobalt had an SS model with actual performance upgrades, and then a wannabe version that was just visual fluff.
That's true. Most trims are like that these days.

They could've at least supercharge them or something, like they did in the past.

Past? HAHAHAHAHA

I'd say for about the past 10 years TRD has been nothing more than a visual upgrade and that's about it, with some slight suspension/ride work. Last time I saw a supercharged anything from a Toyota line was something that started with an L and not a T for Toyota or TRD. Anytime toyota talks about doing TRD I expect and almost know it's going to be this route instead of the more sensible one that you put forth.

They did offer a supercharger kit program before for Toyota and Scion cars, but now I found out that they cancelled the program this year.

That's different, they offered a TRD supercharger kit through the factory when I use to have a Tacoma and offer it for the Tundra. You can get factory tuned parts so long as they actually come from the manufacture. Usually they're weaker then what you find aftermarket wise. Here we have TRD cars.

So with your example it's like buying a Benz and checking off some AMG parts to get put on it before you pick it up, while these (TRD vehicles) would be actual AMG Benz.

The Camry and the Avalon look pretty nice. Shame that there isn't a powertrain upgrade, but then again the V6 which produce 268 HP is nothing to sneeze at for a Camry and Avalon.

Toyota will already build you a TRD Pro Tundra or 4Runner if you'd like, but both are over $40,000 :scared:

I'd love to see a TRD Yaris, Corolla, Tacoma, and Prius.

Like I said, if you have the money and the latest TRD parts catalog they'll install the stuff from the factory. Glad you brought up the Pro Tundra cause I remembered that last night but was too lazy to edit, was in a C&D not that long ago.

I'd really like that TRD Land Cruiser. I'm also a little disappointed we didn't get a new TRD Pro Tacoma at SEMA this year, maybe we will see it in Detroit.

Too bad the trd hilux and aurion weren't more successful
Would love to see them sold again
Well at least the hilux

Okay, the Highlanger/Kluger looks like it will punch other SUVs in the grill. No extra power to back it up is not what this generation of owners want anyway. As long as "Guess How Much I Love" can be seen by all occupants is all that matters. :sly:

Well, that TRD Land Crusier is riiiiiiiight up my alley. Wow.

Was gonna say the same thing. The Camry, Corolla and Highlander are quite forgettable, but that Land Cruiser. Damn.
