What would the pros here recommend for setting my traction control to in order to remain consistent and work on my lapt times?

Can I assume that in an ideal world I should set it to 0 in order to get used to that? Browsing the leaderboard the top few slots were using 0, but I find it much easier to get a consistent lap with it set to 3-5 for example on Cape Ring.

I would say if you are using a wheel or something where you can vary the throttle/braking inputs properly and precisely then yes ultimately the fastest way to get around the track is going to be with TCS off. If you are using a very digital approach to your throttle/braking inputs then TCS almost will always make you faster I would assume.

i usually have TCS on 5, and setting it to 0 and lapping tsukuba over and over definitely got me more used to it and faster overall. just learn to be moderate with throttle, if you have a wheel.

my preference is 0, and If you've got a wheel, then I'd strongly recommend setting it to that as well. If you want a bit of a transition period to help you adjust, maybe leave it on 1 for a few sessions, but ultimately, you want your imputs (steering and pedals) smooth, balanced, and progressive because that's what's required if you decide to turn TCS all the way off.

I drive with TCS on zero, and I use a controler.... and worst I use the D-pad and (X) and Triangle for gas and brake. As long as your lines are good and you drive as smooth as possible it can be done! I would say turn it off and do atleast 5-6 laps see if it works for you. You just must be quick with your steering and always thinking 2 steps ahead as far as where the weight of the car is going to shift and be ready to catch it before you lose to much speed in a oversteer!

I'm using a dfgt and tried to turn it off while driving and couldn't so I figured you couldn't change it.
First lap after I turned it off I shaved 1/2 a second off at tsukuba.

I turned on the assits on the PSP version and I had ridiculously fast times on the track, but for some reason I don't think in GT5 this will hold true... (same car)

TCS off is the best way to go. Although if you know how to work the computer its still very competitve with tcs 5. Some of my faster times were tcs because i just didnt notice i had it on.

Its all in the way you plant your power.
