hey guys, just a little question, i have a thrustmaster t150pro, but i still find kinda hard putting traction control off with some cars, I didn’t get if without traction control cars are really faster or not, but i feel pretty comfortable leaving it on default. so my question is can I still win online races with traction control on 3? I mean, traction control really makes you slower?

Yeah, you'll get it. Just be nice and progressive with the throttle coming out of bends - don't stamp on it, but just slowly ease on the throttle. You'll soon find the limits and how to deal with it when you slightly overstep them.

As a general rule of thumb the straighter the steering wheel the more throttle you can apply.

Just so you know, it's entirely possible to win races with TCS set to 3 even if you're on SR S. But you need to understand that you'll still need to manage your throttle during different times in a race.

The idea is to avoid making the TCS turn on by keeping an optimal racing line and throttle imput, but still have it in case something goes wrong and you get a wheelspin which can also slow you down.

Don't be ashamed to use it.

I use it for any car beyond Gr.4 HP range.

Oh look, it’s not about feeling ashamed, it’s about i’m a weird guy!! Traction off for everything or on for everything, I don’t like half measures, and I don’t even like different settings, that’s why I preferred to get gr sport over assetto corsa, I don’t like to set the car, i like trying different cars with base settings

Funny you should say that, because in GTS you can do both: Either leave TCS on or off for every car, or let every car have its own TCS setting.

Yeah i know, but all cars have traction on 3. But as far as i got, the best feeling is driving without traction control. So i’m gonna put it off to all my cars

If you can modulate the throttle properly you'll be a bit quicker without TC.
If you can't you'll be a lot quicker with it.

You’ll have more fun with it off. I hate the feeling of any intervention and TC is the worst, even on 1. And you’ll spin a lot more. But when you don’t spin and you’re properly on it for a whole race C, the next time you look in the mirror you’ll see Nigel Mansell looking back at you.

Ahahah yeah, i gave it a couple of tries today, i used mazda rx7 and it was totally fun!! Then i tried nurburgring with bmw m6, and i found it easier than I thought.. no traction is definitely more satisfying and fun, i just didn’t get one thing, it’s all about throttle or about wheel too? I mean, cars looked more nervous if i steered rough even without touching the throttle. Am i right?

Most definitely, steering and throttle are equally important. The thresholds are different for every car and class, I enjoy having to properly dial into the car. Keep practicing and before you know it you’ll be expertly twitching your arse out just to intimidate the guy behind. So much innuendo, apologies.

No two cars handle exactly the same. I run from 0 to 5 depending on the car. Same with brake balance. Some cars I run forward bias, some rear, the rest in between somewhere. I've got 67 wins in 567 races so you can definitely win with TC on. It's a tool to be used as needed.

I use TC 2 on pretty much all the RWD cars as a safety. I try to accelerate in a way to way it doesn't come on, but it is a nice safety to have on if I've had a few to many beers lol. The 4WD and FF cars I tend to not use any TC. Maybe setting 1 for a standing start in a FF car.

I use TC on 2 and the joystick. Won plenty of races in my short career. Just drive as if you didn't have it on because when it kicks in during a turn it transfers the weight of the car a bit to the front making it oversteer slightly on most cars and it has a tendency to kill a bit of your corner exit speed. You can slam the accelerator if you want during the straights most of the time. That is unless you are driving really low powered cars.

You can learn to control the throttle with TCS on by simply noticing when the engine bogs down to stop you from losing control. As long as you acknowledge the slowing of the car as an indicator that you failed at the turn, then you can continue to work on your throttle feathering. Eventually, you'll be pulling off turns without even triggering the TCS and then you lower it and keep practicing that way.

The whole reason for this is because there is a marginal point just before you spin out where you are getting the maximum throttle on your exit. This input is impossible to achieve with TCS on. My fastest corners feel like I'm flying out of control through the turn but then the car ends up perfectly on the exit line as I'm feeding the throttle to the car. The TCS would never let that happen.
