Traffic on Tokyo expressway???

What is this about???? Are we getting version of Tokyo expressway with traffic?? Because it sure looks like it to me, and it looks glorious.

I don't think we'll actually be able to drive with the traffic, I have a feeling it is a pre-race sequence. e.g something you only will see when you're on the menu screen before you enter the actual race.

traffic models are not high quality enough to actually be raceable, i'd say. pre-race cutscene or maybe background traffic is more likely

It may have something to do with the Championship named 'Tokyo Highway Parade Race'. Traffic on the other side of the highway that you drive close to and impress or something similar, suitably Japanese.

First impression I had seeing this is that this scene is from the GT7 opening video. The reverse carriageway is closed off in all versions of TE in GTS and there's no traffic flow for certain sections have tents as decor.

I'm hopeful this could tease a Free Run only version of the map like Nurburgring's Tourist Layout with online lobby access available. Or have it as part of the Mission Challenges.

We need new street racing games with lookalike cars, as a big fat middle finger to the manufacturers who refuse to allow a harmless virtual activity in a world already filled with much more violent gory media.

I think it was purely a cinematic piece. As said by @fcopm probably a pre race cutscene or something. Not all footage was gameplay.

There's traffic going both ways, I don't think that's in any way playable for us. Despite PD's weirdness on some things.
