Hi all,
yesterday starting a race I saw in the cockpit view (just for few seconds, I don't know why) a motion blur effect.
And it was magnificent.
Since anyway the current framerate isn't stable, I'd prefer to have an option that locks the framerate at 30fps, but with motion blur and/or a true antialiasing.
Who supports this idea?

I agree, I would love that damn motion blur. you can see it in on-line replays, and its beautiful! PD! BRING BACK THE MOTION BLUR!

No. Just no.
They worked so hard on making 60fps (even if not stable), even next-gen racer don't have 60fps, and now you want to just scrap that? No, I can't support this.
I can support code optimization to make it more fluid and stable, but 30fps request is like pissing on all the work behind the engine.

I am absoluty with you! The motion blur used in the original GT6 version was just beautiful, and due to the blur you didnt really notice anything bad with the 30fps!
Try watch online replays with the blur at the Nürburgring - you never saw more amazing trees flying by in any other game!

Aaaaand its more realistic too...

You should turn this into a poll...
I think a poll wouldnt be the best idea because some people doesnt seem to understand the meaning of an ,,option'' :guilty:

Edit: btw the guys from digital foundry wrote about the motion blur of gt6 too and very pretty impressed and noted that this is probably more a feature for a GT on PS4 (because it got disabled bavk then)

I see no reason why PD would lock the framerate at 30fps. Even if the game doesn't achieve constant 60fps, ~45-60fps is infinitely better than locked 30fps even with motion blur.

30fps, really?

Would instantly kill the game for me - even with consistent frame drops, 50-60 is a ton better than 30. I agree with the motion blur needed to be added, maybe they will add it in to GT7.

Polyphony's goal on the PS3 for Gran Turismo was a 1080p 60fps experience and they won't stop trying.

They would also have to tweak the physics, most likely make them worse, to fit in with the feel of 30fps - keep it in mind

I would accept a 30fps option but a locked 30 is a no go, in my mind.

couldnt we have it locked at 45fps? I mean at that point you are only able to subconsciously tell that something is wrong, so that's good enough for me!

Of course it should be just an "option", since a lot of people prefer the smooth 60fps.
But since PD enabled the "V-Sync" and the other "more-details" option (that I didn't understand :)) as optional graphic improvements, we could have a further motion blur and/or a 30fps lock (with some details more or a more consistent AA) option.
Actually I prefer the motion blur even with 30fps lock (that is what you see for instance on real-life TV images, that are actually... true :)).

1st graphic option I turn off in all my pc games is motion blur(the ps4 project cars vids all seem to have it on meh! just looks wrong imo lucky you get "options" on pc they don't force stuff on to you)

For me 720p/60fps would have definitely been the right choice for PS3, they could have added a ton more with lower resolution..

Amen, I've been a supporter of this ever since GT5. 1080p is pointless at the PS3 level of hardware and just serves to limit the game, though a bit of a pointless argument now as we've moved on to the next tier of hardware.

Funny thing is, I can easily imagine PD aiming for something crazy again like 4k60fps and gimping the game once again for the sake of silly numbers.

30fps with motion blur is for racers that are happy to sacrifice control and playability for fancy graphics for trailers and screenshots. 30fps is for Need For Speed Rivals, even thought it's on the PS4. 60fps is the far better choice for racing games - more responsive FFB and physics. Why would you trade that for fancy graphics?

would love this option, if you watch an online race from spectator view the game runs at 30fps+motion blur aswell. And actually it looks more realistic. We dont talk here of the strange NFS blur. Its advanced motion blur how it happens in real life aswell. Things passing close start to blur. Asphalt, grass barriers next to you. Now it's all sharp and since PD been lazy on alot of tracks it's the same texture just repeating all over again. Kills the sense of speed even with 60fps.

Motion blur gives a more realistic look. And since the game often drops way under 60fps which I really hate especially in cockpit view I'd love the 30fps option.

Anyways guys I am pretty sure we gonna see 60fps+motion blur in GT7. The only way GT6 wont use it at 60fps is that it can't handle it. PC players will know well that motion blur takes recources and effects the framerate.

Take a glimpse at some new next gen games.
Battlefield 4 on PS3 30fps no motion blur. on PS4 60fps+motion blur. Forza 4 60 no motion blur. Forza 5 60fps+motion blur.

It's hardware limitation thats all.

All modern PC Sims use motion blur aswell. You can still disable it but it's no arcade effect or somethig  . It's just natural and how reality works. If people claim there is none in reality I'd like to have your high speed eyes :dopey:

Another funny thing is that they already tried 4k for "the sake of numbers" :https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-tech-demo-shown-running-at-4k-resolution/

And it is also written : "and the PlayStation 4 itself is widely expected to support the high resolution."
Bad news

yeah, same old song and dance. I've been playing PC and console racing sims since the mid 90s. 60fps has been the gold standard in PC sims since about 2005. Grand Prix Legends was hard locked at 36fps and by the early 2000s folks were trying to find a way to mod it to run at 60fps. It annoys the heck out of me that we still to this day have to deal with framerate drops below 60fps - but oh weeee look at that lens flare! Devs need to stop trying to wow us with special fx and focus on what really matters. A perfect, unwavering 60fps is more important than motion blur...once that is achieved, if there's any room left for bling then sure, go ahead and add pretty stuff.

Since GT1 era, PD accustomed us to an high level of realism on the graphic side. And that (together with the advanced physic engine) helped to improve the general sense of realism and the driving experience. I think that the point is the optimization. Some of us prefer an high frame rate in order to be absorbed into the game, other prefer a graphic coherence. I hope all these factors will be better balanced on the ps4.

Seriously, I have a 290X and I get so annoyed when framerate drops below 60 fps in Assetto Corsa! I can't believe some of you people would prefer arguable bettr gfx to higher and more stable fps.
If I had the option I'd even turn AA off but that's just me!

I can't stand anything below 60 FPS. It might be because my monitor is 144 Hz so anything lower starts getting really choppy anyway. I hate the idea of motion blur even more though because it is no where near realistic and just gives a false sense of speed. I just hate it on anything. Always have and always will.
