If its so easy ?? Then put up a score ?? Bet you wont beat me ?? :dopey:

I didn't say it was easy did I? No I probably won't beat you because I can't be bothered to tune a car for points drifting and I don't really want to. But the same goes for you, I bet you won't beat me in a battle with actual set clipping points and judges that look for more than speed and 45º angle.

What is the difference between Tandem vs Solo? I am not trying to start a fight or anything.

I saw that nobody answered this during the thread so i thought i'd throw it out there for you, not sure if it was meant sarcastically or if i was a legit question.

A Tandem is when two cars are on the course at the same time, taking turns as the lead car and the chasing car. This is an offensive/defensive setup designed to find out who can drift best under pressure. The lead car must avoid the chasing car and at the same time execute an ideal drift; meanwhile, the chasing car is trying to mess up the lead car by getting in its way and is also trying to achieve its own ideal drift. A driver who spins out or causes contact automatically loses the tandem run.

Online in GT5 however, it's less competitive and more "trying to copy the line". At least in my time with drifting that's what i've been confronted with.

Solo is, basically that.

---------------------------------

Also, this thread has gotten terrible out of hand. Idle bickering back and forth. What are we? 12 years old? We know our thoughts on the matter, what's the point of arguing it all out over 4 pages of double posts and petty remarks.

There does appear to be a 'my way or the highway' vibe to this forum. I say each to their own.
However, going out of the way to 'flame' someone, regardless of what side of the fence you sit, is not productive.

The pressure of a chasing car can be quite intense when you're actually in a car, especially when they can get within inches of your car. It's very easy to lose concentration.
Note, i'm talking about Tandems in perspective of real life competition, not the GT5 explanation which i specified afterwards. This is because nk4e was asking the difference between Tandem and Solo, not Tandem and Solo in GT5. Although i added how it changes from real life to online lobby interaction.

AUP
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

Thank you for your input.

You said that being the chasing car, you would purposely make the lead car mess up. Erm, no.
And being refered the AUP by a noob, that made me chuckle. Thanks for brightening up my day a little.

I'm not quite sure you understand what i'm saying. In drift competitions, finals are tandem passes. Drivers are paired off, and each heat comprises two passes, with each driver taking a turn to lead. The best of the 8 heats go to the next 4, to the next 2, to the final. Conditions are:

Overtaking the lead car under drift conditions is ok if you don't inerupt the lead car's drift.

Overtaking the lead car under grip conditions automatically forfeits that pass.

Spinning forfeits that pass, unless the other driver also spins.

Increasing the lead under drift conditions helps to win that pass.

Maintaining a close gap while chasing under drift conditions helps to win that pass.

By "purposely make the lead car mess up", what i mean is applying pressure in hope that he spins his car, whilst holding your own nerve and safely completing your drift.

And being refered the AUP by a noob, that made me chuckle. Thanks for brightening up my day a little.

So by abiding by the rules of the forums and reminding you of them, i'm now given a title of "noob"? Or are you merely aiming this on how little i post? Because that is clearly how things seem to work around here "More posts = More knowledge".

Thank you for your input, it was much appreciated. 👍

I am use to the drifting solo on tracks. Someone does a run and until they are done, another person goes. In FM2, I just followed. If I crash, I go off the road till the line ends.

Still no score ?? Yet you always post comments about tamdem over points, even when its been stated its about full lap points scoring ??? Guess you are just jealous of those that can score high ?? In my opinion that is .

You're talking about the wrong person. Driftz is actual one if the best drifters I know. But it one thing to drift offline in drift mode and online door to door with someone.

As stated a million posts ago, there's already a thread for Tsukuba scores:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=201353

And honestly... in a thread entitled: "Scores", I'd expect people to be talking about scores... not about whether or not they reflect best drift, best technique or even realistic technique or whether solo drifting styles are applicable to tandems.
