Tune for NEW bonus race 2 RX-7

I've come to the realazation that I am horrible at this game. 7th seems to be where I finish most. The bonus race 1 with the fiat and cr-z guys say is simple
And I'm getting 9th. I don't understand

thanks for the setup jeremy_craig, I didn't like the way the rx7 drove with the setup, but I've beaten the skyline by over 10 seconds using it, which is more than enough.
Btw, due to my sloppy driving I only got constant 0:59:0xx, but with some finetuning and less traffic, you should be able to do at least a 0:58:5xx with this setup.

I was stuck in the same rut. consistant 1.02 with the spirit rx7. Found the cheat button (skid recovery force) i hate using it but bam straight up 1 minute flat laps consistantly. beat the skyline by 4.5 secs.

after multiple setup advice from all on here (thanks heaps) managed to win by 0.6 seconds this AM. mid-low 1.00's was just good enough.. 👍

7HO
Here are the settings I used for a minimum effort comfortable win of 10 seconds with a best lap time of 59.004.

Height F -20, R -18
Spring Rate F 8.5, R 7.5
Extension F 8, R 5
Compression F 5, R 3
Anti Roll F 2, R 5
Camber F 2.7, R 1.4
Toe F 0.03, R 0.00

Brake Bias F 3, R 0

No ABS or TCS because I hate them. This tune is easy to run consistant high 59's with if you take it easy, it can be pretty unforgiving if you start to push it but responds well to muscle, you can get good lap times by really throwing it into a corner if you get the line right and have good pedal control.

Did you use Skid recovery?

That's a good question and one I can't answer, I have never turned skid recovery on but I did let my kids have a go while I went to the loo because they were giving me crap, I checked the settings again since and skid recovery is off but I can't for the life of me run another 59 with that setup, I have managed plenty of 1:00's but I can't run them continuously without going off. It was late and I was tired but it seemed easier when I beat it. I am still faster with my tune than any other tune in this thread or any other tune I have seen posted but before I retired for the night I decided to go in a completely different direction with the tune and I was onto something, the last tune I tried was a really tight tune that made the car hard to turn but let me get more traction earlier as long as I exited as long as I was relatively straight. I didn't get a chance to play today, I'll post again after I try again fresh.

All that said skid recovery may have been on when I beat it but even when I beat it the car felt very loose and I made a few mistakes even during that run with at least one slow lap, the difference when I beat it was that I had settled into a nice groove and wasn't pushing too hard, when the kids went outside and the house was silent I got into this nice groove where I just seemed to be on auto pilot. But when I went back to it later that night I must say it didn't feel like the same car and I just couldn't get settled, I'm really disappointed about even the idea that I might of done it with skid recovery on. Of course the kids won't admit anything because I gave them specific instructions not to change anything but i won't be happy until I can do it again now.

Well I went from 5th to 2nd on the last turn and lost by <20 seconds. Yeah, somewhere I need better than 2 seconds a lap I guess...

With Skid Recovery OFF the most I can manage for now is second place, 15 seconds from the leader.
My lap times are constantly closely around 1:02 (1.01:800-1.02.200)

This is the set-up I'm currently using:
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02 (391 hp / 1051 Kg)
  • Stage 3 Chassis Weight Reduction
  • Window Weight Reduction
  • Carbon Bonnet
  • Rigidity Improvement
  • Aerodynamics
    • Downforce 0/20
  • Stage 3 Engine tuning
  • Sports Intake Manifold
  • Mid RPM Range Turbo Kit
  • Fully Customizable Transmission
    • Max Speed 270
  • Clutch: Twin-Plate
  • Flywheel: Semi-Racing
  • Fully Customizable LSD
    • Initial Torque 0/25
    • Acceleration Sensitivity 0/60
    • Braking Sensitivity 0/5
  • Carbon Propeller Shaft
  • Fully Customizable Suspension
    • Ride Height -20/-20
    • Spring Rate 11.0/11.0
    • Dampers (Extension) 6/6
    • Dampers (Compression) 6/5
    • Anti-Roll Bars 4/1
    • Camber Angle (-) 2.5/2.0
    • Toe Angle 0.00/0.05
  • Brake Balance Controller
    • Brake Balance 4/5
With the engine set-up for maximum acceleration you have to shift gears at most at 6500-6500 rpm. No need to engage second and first gear once you're running.

Oops, sorry. I actually meant 6200-6500 rpm. The higher the gear, the lower the shifting point.
Shifting at higher rpms makes you lose acceleration, given the torque curve characteristics of this set-up.

I used 7HO's setup with cheating recovery force and beat the skyline in the 8th lap With consistent low 59 laps. Sue me. XD

I'll give this a try without SRF, but the best I managed was like 5 seconds behind the first place car when it wasn't turned on.

As far as I'm concerned, the race and the number 1 skyline are colluding to cheat us out of our precious time.

gawd man...did a first lap of 1:01.xx and 1:00.xx subsequent laps and I still can't beat him. I'm still behind by a second or so. This is probably the toughest event i've ever come across. I'm spent.

EDIT: well I managed to beat it. You need to pull consistent 1 minute laps to have a chance. I beat him by a mere second. This event was definitely taxing.

I don't see the problem here?

Full tune 560 bhp, was in 1st after lap 5 and lapped everyone up to 3rd, won by over 30 seconds. Did steady 55 rounds. Used the tune from this post, which made the car understeer on accelration.

Problem is PD removed the restrictions, turning a nice challenge into a joke.

turning a nice challenge into a joke.

Most of the Bonus Races are jokes because of lack of restrictions. :grumpy:

I struggled with every RX-7 until I quit being cheap and purchased tires for them. Even going from Comfort: Soft to Sport: Hard is an incredible increase in corner exit traction. If your RX-7 has happy feet coming out of corners, before touching the suspension, make sure you've got the max rubber you're allowed.

I've passed this with the 95 type R-S (FD, J). Buy aero and all upgrades including full tran and suspension. Comes up to 575 bhp. Change max speed to 143. For suspension:
-20:-20 height
9.5:7.5 spring
7:4 damp ext
5:5 damp comp
4/4 roll
.8:1.4 camber
-0.4:-0.2 toe
Your target lap is 1:00. I gained 1st on lap nine with the 1:00 average lap time. Hope this helps.
