Tuner bodykits? Why not Manufacturer's bodykits/cosmetics?

Airdrian
i would prefer tuner crap,
cause then its kool and ill be like oh yea ill get this in real life and this and this.
like that.

I'm glad the English language isn't dying.

Hey what's with the term ricer? Its racism hidden under a "cute" word, i believe it's wrong. What's the problem? That their cars are ugly? That they have wings and bodykits and unpainted carbon fiber hoods because they think it looks good? That their cars are slow? What is it because i think that it's just stupid to criticize people because they have a certain taste, do you diss peole because you like your steak one way and they like it another? I don't think so.

But anyway if they are so slow then kick their assess and it's over like a real racer would do, dont go around being an ass to them and making fun of them, in the end when you think about it does it do any good? No because if you just make fun of them you fuel the fire, maybe if you took the time and say hey that kit adds weight and isnt aerodynamic and it actually slows you down, if you were to explain that aspect they might think differently and say hey why and i wasting 600 dollars on a kit that makes me slower? But if you don't try to face it in a positive attitude then you just feed them and they grow.

Personally i dont like the whole 200 pound exxagerated kit, but i like lip kits, some bumpers that make the cars look cleaner and that sort of stuff.

yes i agree that there should be no body kits but rear air diffusers would be awsome, all so a front air dam or air diffuser to reduce turbulent air at high speeds, al they should allow functional spoilers, thats my 2 cents, just a thought

They should allow functional aero kit's, and thats all, why split into functional spoilers and a front aird am and rear diffuser. Proper race cars have more bodywork than that.

Mate.......I just couldn't have said it better :) Kudos to you! 👍

You think wrong, I sure as hell let these people know they suck ass.

This game is a driving simulator, not a racing simulator.

I have a real problem with this argument. I've heard it thrown out a number of times to try and justify the inclusion of something, and I hate it. This is driving in a racing context. Find me one mode where you are not racing something. You're racing cars in Arcade and Simulation, you're racing the clock in Free Run. Sure, you can just drive around and watch the scenery, but there is no dedicated mode. Every mode at the very least records your lap time. You do all of your 'driving' in controlled conditions on closed circuits. There is no "Drive your kids to the soccer game" Cup, nor a "Pizza Delivery" Championship. Get over the mantra on the front of your game box and look at the actual content of the game itself.

TheCracker: Yeh I no wat u meen dawg.

Yes, all the actual driving is in a racing context, be it against the computer opponents or the clock. Although I like to occasionally just drive, drift and spin round a track.

Why have a garage? Just pick a car before a race.

Why have license tests? Why not just race?

Why be able to change wheel rims? Why be able to wash the car? They have(or shouldn't have) any effect on the aerodynamics of a virtual car.

All of the above can be part of the driving experience, with enough money. ;)

Adding bodykits to the car, be they aerodynamic or cosmetic, is a way of of making a car more individual. Although anything you put on a car has an aerodynamic effect, be it positive or negative. It is all part of the experience.

I'll say again, if the factory sell it, I see no reason it shouldn't be in. Whether you use it or not, is up to you.

And surely choice is a big part of the game. So many cars, so many modifications. You can choose to use the minimum cars possible, with no mods. Or try every car, and mod them to the max. You don't have to use the test tracks. You won't have to, I don't think, use the photo mode.

Maybe it should be "the real life driving experience simulator" then. ;) :) Although they may need a bigger box.

Real life driving simulator would indicate a lets go shopping mode, and take a trip to London while keeping under the speed limits ect. GT is a racing game, it simulates the way a car drives in a race. If the factory sells it then I dont see a problem with it being in, but I'd much rather see PD creating more and more racingkits than extra factory bodykits.

Most of the things you listed appear in numerous games, it's just that GT chooses to give them a somewhat unique name - but that's all it is, a name, any difference is an illusion.

Sorta like you do in Need for Speed say? Or any racing game, where you pick your car, then go pick where to race. GT calls it a garage, NFS calls it the Car Selection screen or whatever.

Why have license tests? Why not just race?

As your car and your driving improve in most racing games, you win through to other events. You unlock new races. In GT this system is replaced with the license test, meaning the game is instantly accessible to people with sufficient skill, but at the end of the day all it is is a progression limiting system like you see in most racers.

heh, I personally rarely do either, but I appreciate the point. I also think they need a bigger box ;)

We've raised the topic of wheel rims and washing the car before, and in reality, there is a performance advantage to be had from both, wheels far more obviously. Given an ideal world a lot of us would like these things to have an actual impact on performance instead of simply being cosmetic, and that's reflected in our stance with respect to bodykits.

I don't think it would be a good idea to include body kits: they are a cheap cosmetic alternative to actual performance upgrades.
