Turbo chargers?

Turbo chargers don't put a strain on the engine and they don't rob power from the engine.

A well-planned turbo setup can place little to no stress on an engine. At least, no more than a supercharger. ;) If you install a Garrett T88 on a Honda 2.0 VTEC, you can expect a short lifespan of that engine unless extra care is taken. If you just use a little T25 on that same engine, it will could last as long as it would have if it were stock. You have to care for an engine if you expect it to last, but more so if you plan on altering it -- with anything.

Super Chargers don't have any lag and they don't need as much maintainence.

Roots-type (screw-type) superchargers generally don't have lag, but centrifugal (bascially, the impeller half of a turbo) puffers can have just as much lag as the aforementioned T88 turbo. As for maintenance, see above. ;)

So then for the Si I should go with the smaller turbo?

Are you sure you really want a Civic? I mean they aren't terriable cars (well I think they are but I know they aren't that bad).

Also there are other cars that have stock turbos in them. Like the WRX, Eclipse, along with many others.

My dad doesn't want me to get a fast car as my first or second car. So any of those is basically out of the question. I figured I get a Civic so that I have some room to build on it.

Yes, and you should find a number of good kits specifically for the Civic Si. And good luck on your grades. :)

Thanks man, I'm going to need it. If I don't make the grades...then I'll just get a job now and start saving up for it, and whenever I can buy the car I'll just put half of it down for the down payment and use the rest for the monthly or whatever payments...I think lol
