TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - ENDURO Racing Series - PRACTICE TONIGHT!

Might not make it for Enduro this week along with FLEX. Friday is my birthday so I'll probably have family around, but it might be late enough to be able to squeeze in.

Anyone running tonight?

Between practices and races this is actually the only night we don't have something scheduled. Turtle Town is there for your use. If you put the time you will be in there maybe someone will join you.

To be clear, anyone is welcome to post images. jay*doc officially takes them for Division 3. shredTec and Friend-29 regularly post them from Division 2. If either martin_ky or myself have time we post them for Division 1. Again, anyone is welcome to post images even if someone else already has. No 2 images are the same so feel free to post away! 👍

Most likely I'll snap some for Division 3 before work and have them up tomorrow afternoon.

Race 1 was decent for me. Someone had an issue between qualifying and the race and they went from starting P2 to the rear. This allowed me to really push at the beginning and break away from the pack. It took 3-4 laps but I was finally able to. Had an uneventful race after that point.

Race 2 was a total difference. Had a great time picking my way through the field in a timely but aggressive manner. I was keen on taking care of my equipment as I wanted to have good tires at the end. Made it to P2 before the leader, Martin dove down pit road. I followed him right in, as I was afraid of him opening a large gap due to the difference in speed versus new/old rubber. We had a great duel for the remaining laps. I was keen on getting in front of him as soon as I could so I could use my slipstream to wear his front tires more during the course of the 2nd stint. I give Martin a ton of credit as he stayed with me up to the 22nd lap. Then I was able to get a gap and pull away.

It was a great race, and I hope everyone else enjoyed the competitive and clean racing as I did. Hopefully I will make it to next weeks adventure.

We hope you can make it next week as well Choate51. If you don't mind, could you elaborate on using your slipstream to wear out a competitors front tires. I've never heard of that. Thanks!

Pretty much, anytime your behind a car or within about .4 seconds there is a noticeable understeer. This is due to the game's way of inducing "aero push". It's the same reason why F1 instituted the DRS and why the IZOD Indy Car series uses push to pass. Without those little things, passing was near impossible because you couldn't get close enough to make a pass. Same concept applies here.

So in the course of a longer run you need to take care of your tires or you won't have anything to finish with. This is why I carefully plan when to attack or not. If you are always in attack mode and always right under the taillights of your competition you will burn the fronts off.

Hope this helps!

👍 I couldn't keep pace with you the final 3 laps due to too much push, but it was great race. I wish I had adjusted my rear brake bias up a bit more. I ended up running 0 front 5 rear, but with little practise in I was afraid with more in the rear the tail would get too loose. Nice win. Race 1 was also a great race from my perspective trying to hold off Drex and RacingOtaku. It was a fun combination again this week.

I learned something new today. Thanks Choate51!

Sounds like a good race on Saturday. I was at the point I thought I could race, but knew by the end of it I'd feel worse than I already did.

It sucks as GVS is a favorite track of mine, and I missed it. I also missed when we ran Grand Valley East reverse a few months back, and that is probably my favorite track to run.

Oh well.

Indy road in a snake will have to do.

First things first... great racing in division 2 this weekend. I had two battles for 10+ laps. (Great run FFK and Johnny). My heart is still recovering, lol.

Secondly ... great pics shred!! Thanks for the great close-up of the old number 37! I had a few comments from co-workers today about the new desktop wallpaper.

Its always fun when they make comments on the desktop picture. Around here its always man is that a real picture of you racing. Pictures from GT5 look really good.

Hope your feeling better. We ran a few laps at Indy in the ACR after last Saturday and it was great. I can't remember what lap times I had but its going to be a fun race. Really looking forward to it.

TURTLE RACING LEAGUE | ENDURO Racing Series

Race 26: Grand Valley Speedway
Car: Subaru Impreza TC
Laps: 25
Tires: Racing Mediums
Date: February 9, 2013
Division: 3

There were so many close back and forth races going on for 1/2/3 and also 4/5. So you may see that lots of times the same 2 or 3 cars are in the same from, this was over the course of the race.

Also, I'm noticing something in the replays and want to give some advice. We had a few new people running with us, but this could be a good reminder to all.

1. If you are using a controller to race, make sure L3 is not assigned as the horn button. During a race, people get into battles, and hearts get pumping. If mashing the left analog stick to turn, you're going to be beeping the whole time. This can look like you are beeping for the person in front of you to get out of the way.

2. Keep in mind that it is the person who is executing the pass to do so cleanly. I saw a lot of bumping in turns and even a dive bomb or 2 👎 Make sure that you are in a position to pass prior to executing the pass. This will make the racing more enjoyable for all and make everyone faster. If the leaders get tangled and fall back to 3/4 getting back on track, that will hurt both of the people battling for first from a points standpoint.

This is just friendly reminders based on a few limited instances within Division 3, not aimed at anyone in specific!

If I'm overstepping my bounds here, please feel free to notify me and I'll edit!👍
