TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX Racing Series - ACCEPTING MEMBERS!

Wow! Last night was the first time I drove a Nascar... and it didn't turn out pretty. :ouch:

I kept on spinning recovering from a crash... no matter how hard I press on my brakes, sometimes I don't think the car will stop. Any tips on how to control Nascars?

I had the same problem in the draft last night. If I was anywhere near another car I couldn't stop the thing. In fact, I over shot 2 corners in Race 2. The other thing is throttle control! Trottle control! Throttle control! How do you learn throttle control? Practice! Practice! Practice! :D

Sounds like it was a fun race Friday night. How many people showed up for it?

My good news was that I was just promoted to manager at my job. I work at a swimming pool supply store, so I'm going to be putting in a lot of hours now to the end of the summer. Hopefully I don't mess things up and get to keep the position. :dopey: But again, it may mean I will miss some races here if I don't have time to practice or get home late some nights.

Congratulations!!! Who cares if you don't have time to practice! I need someone to keep me company in the grass and sand pits :sly:

there where quite a few people there when I left during qualifying. Trying to remember. I think it was shred, psycho, mbobb, bran, socket, and legacy. I might be missing a few. Seems like there was more.

Because I had to miss Friday's race, I decided to take my NASCAR out to Suzuka to see how it was. I was very impressed how the car handled, but I think a part of it was my improved throttle control. I remember my first ever FLEX race, it was NASCAR race at Daytona Road Course; I finished dead last in that, and the handling of it was a huge turnoff for me (that, and its NASCAR, being one of my least favorite cars). Now, after participating in FLEX, and others, I have found my throttle control using my DS3 has improved significantly, thanks to this series (and the others). Why am I saying all of this? To the new drivers who raced on Friday and didn't do too well, I know your pain all too well. All I can say is don't let this be a turnoff from the series; instead, use this as a stepping stone to get started on a path to improve your driving style. You may not be successful at every race, but your skills will benefit from it. Plus, you got us to help you out if you are ever stuck on something. Just don't ask us what is the meaning of life, because the answer is 42. But anyway, I'll see you on the track!

This is good to know. You use a controller.would have never guessed it.I watched you in enduro practice and your throttle control was very good and your lines were smooth,I am happier this morning knowing this.you were running 2:14 laps in practice with a controller very good.
I just switched to l2 and r2 for brake and throttle. This is better but takes some getting use too.

Would you care to tell what you set steering sensitivty on? Ihave tryed them all and seems anything from 4 TO 7 i cant tell much difference. So i set mine on 5 and that seems to work pretty good.

I don't think I ever messed with my steering sensitivity. Whatever the default value is for it, that's how I roll with it. And yes, I am a DS3 user, but I use the analog sticks for handling and acceleration; it's my preferred way in GT5. BTW, which practice was this? ^^;

It was the enduro practice this past week with the Mclaren.
When i am on line in gt my name is randy1122.Didnt know when I signed up on Gtp that Gtp name should be the same as psn id.
No matter how old i get I still make mistakes like that from time to time.

Nascars are very fun and challenging to drive, when you get it right though its very rewarding. Throwing that big heavy brick around is way to much fun.

Oww I'm getting quezy thinking about. And 13 laps!!! Only crazy men would do that.
Anyway, May the surest of foot and the steadiest of hand prevail tonight.
Hopefully you all leave with tempers in tact.

We also get to drive it at night! :D

good race last night, congratulations to dolphdrago and micantoni, I have only one question, you run with ds3? And everyone else, good race, I'm happy that you guys race to end.

Dolph runs with a DS3 in auto, I believe he uses the D-pad as well. I was am impressed with how fast he is doing this.

Also, sorry about missing the race. It's been a busy week! Hope it was a good time.

thanks for answering martin, with steering wheel was very demanding race. now i know why they are faster

It was awesome racing with you masterhec! Quite a challenge. I felt like i ran as good of a race as i possibly could have to be able to catch up to you.👍 It took everything i had.

I use a dfgt wheel by the way; didnt realize dolph uses a ds3.

That is correct. I use the DS3, and as Martin pointed out, the d-pad, not the stick. Been racing that way for years. I'm too stubborn to switch now. :D I have a feeling I'd probably get owned if I used a wheel. But with my current condition (recovering from spinal cord surgery a year ago, have had to re-learn how to walk, and have almost no feeling in my right leg, meaning I can't always feel where my feet are on the pedals), I can't exactly use a wheel anyway. Maybe the lowered feeling of sense in my leg has heightened my ability to use the DS3?

Anyhoo...I had an enjoyable race last night. Masterhec and I had a great battle for 1st through the early portion of the race. And the parade lap was fun at the end of the race, too.

Edit: I also wonder if it would have been a closer race at the end had mic not had the connection problem before the race and lost his P3 starting spot? Oh, and I also feel bad for racingotaku for his disconnect 2 laps from the finish. That had to be frustrating. :(

Race Recap

Congratulations hjhr75-08 for your two 1st place finishes and overall win. NASCAR's at Suzuka, a lot of weight with little tires makes them interesting on anything with more than just left turns. ABG finished 2nd in race two and 3rd in race one to tie down second place overall. Psycho-Tuber's 2nd and 4th place finishes put him in 3rd spot with TX_Executioner only 1 point behind him in 4th. TX got there by getting Pole and a 3rd and 4th Place finish. He also had the fastest lap in both races 👍 MBOBB and Shred-Tec finished in the same spots in each race and in the final results with MBOBB getting 5th place and Shred getting 6th. Johnsom locked down 7th place with Bran flakes getting 8th. Randy and ALLMAN finished up the grid getting 9th and 10th place. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who came out.
