TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - TYRO Racing Series - BEGINNERS SERIES!

I didn't know you lived in Richmond :d I used to live around New Kent, if you know where that is off I-64. Not for long though. A little over a year. Nice area

I know exactly where you lived!! I work off I-64 at Gaskins (my company now owns what used to be Circuit City's headquarters) but I live in Midlothian. I went to school with Denny Hamlin in the south side, though I admit I don't know him personally because I was a senior when he was a freshman. I grew up right behind Southside Speedway listening to the car engines as I went to bed every Friday night.

Now we know why you like to race :D that would be cool though, saying you went to high school with a NASCAR driver. I never knew the area real well, I was seeing a girl from around there, I just remember getting off that exit just passed the scales, at the T where the shell is, turn right and go down that road a bit.

Come to think of it, I got my first ever ticket on that hwy by a New Kent officer for being over length on that highway. I think the limit is 65 ft, he pulled out the tape measure and everything lol 72 1/2 ft. Came out to be $140 fine.

Yay, you popped your cherry!

Hooray!! Do I get a prize or is this shameful and regretful feeling all I have to look forward to? lol

On my way home... I might be a little late for qualifying. I hope I can make it before race starts.

Good luck to everyone tonight!! Hope we have a great turnout, good times and clean racing!!

While you guys are racing, I'm going to hunt Choate down and make him teach me to race. I think he lives around where I'm at. :P

I'll be in Turtle Town at about 4 am EST messing around with the Audi and Roadster TC on Laguna Anyone wanna run some laps with me?

I did not account for the time change. I will not be able to participate in any events as my schedule conflicts with the racing times. Sorry guys

Hey wins how's it going? I'll meet ya in turtle town. I always get up around 3:30 or 4. I've got the Audi broke in I'll give bob the Mazda when I get home tonight. I couldn't make the tyro and not going to make the enduro either. I really liked the Audi and deep forest combo. I'm not as fast as you,it'll give me a chance to learn.

If you find choate, yeah be sure and snag him.He gave me some really good tips for braking points and brake balance. A good guy.

Oh, I don't have a mic and not a fast typer either.

Alright sounds good to me. I'm 297 miles from home waiting on this place to load my semi truck up. Soon as they get done, I'm headed home so it might be later than 4. I am farther away than I had thought I would be.

It doesn't matter if you're as fast as me, I may do some really hard laps, but I mainly just cruise around the tracks. Also, if you want, I can follow you around and give you some pointers. I did that with another guy, and after about a hour and a half, he was staying right on my bumper. I'm not that good at Laguna Seca though, there are a few places that I haven't figured out. Mainly the first right hander, the sweeping downhill left after the 'corkscrew' and the right immediately after the downhill left.

I don't have a mic either, but I have a keyboard hooked up so I can explain things to you and if you have any questions about anything, I'm always eager to help.

Edit: yea I'm not gonna make it socket, I'm still getting loaded up and they're taking their sweet time about it. I'm not gonna get home until about 7 am.

Alright wins drive safe. I didn't know you could hook a keyboard to the ps3.

Also,in an earlier post you said how u worried about the other drivers, messing up their race, slowing them up and so on when u started racing. That's what I worry about the whole race it seems like. How did you get past that?

I guess I just need to quit worry about it and race.we're all going to cause a wreck no matter how hard we try not to.

Thanks. Yea just a USB keyboard will work. As for the racing part, I still am a little worried about messing up someone's race. But then I realized something. If someone is faster then me, they're going to have to work for it. My first flex race, I was constantly searching my mirrors, making sure I knew where everyone was around me. I didn't know how someone would react if I accidentally got into them, if they'd flip out and then I would be 'that guy' you gotta watch out for.
I didn't ruin anyone else's race, but I ruined my own race. But I learned a lot from it. A person who is faster then you, will always find a way around you. Normally people won't try to pass you in a curve, but it will happen from time to time. What I did to help me out was stop looking inn my mirror so much. I'll glance in my mirror before info to a curve to see if anyone is around me. If there is, I'm still going to run the same line as if they weren't near me, unless they're right beside me. Then I'll give them some room. Remember, it's their job to pass you cleanly.
Now, if I'm going to pass someone, I may follow them for an entire lap and learn where I'm faster then them at. Just like making a pit stop, you have to know where you can and can't pass and when the best time to pass is.

Some contact is going to get made. It's a part of racing. We are human and we make mistakes. I don't think someone would fault me for contact here and there, as long as I try my best to be a clean racer and run my own race.

Thankyou for this.I will use that attitude for ever race from now on.Was always worried what someone might say.
As long as I race hard and race every man cleanly to the best of my ability no worries.

Sorry guys, I had a VERY large power outage during practice. The power and internet just came back.

I'm mad, I could have won that race :(

I was thinking about it and I have a question regarding this part of the GTP OLR:

Leading cars have the right to choose their own line down a straight. They can change their racing line once while driving down a straight (Move from the outside line to the inside, or vice versa). As they approach the next corner, they can return to the racing line of their choice However, they're not allowed to change their line when the behind driver is directly behind and changes his line to try and make a pass. If your movement causes an accident, you're responsible.

Lets use psycho as an example in my hypothetical situation. It's the last lap, psycho took the last turn faster than myself and is in my draft, gaining on me quickly. Right before he gets to my bumper I change my allotted 1 time as a defensive maneuver, forcing him to brake, thus giving me the win. Would this be acceptable, or does it fall under bad race craft?

I can't wait to see the replies to this one, especially when the answer is so obvious. :)

Tested the scion, Toyota and suburu.

Toyota: 1'19.6xx
Suburu: 1'19.3xx
Scion: 1'19.2xx

They're all the same. All cars were tested in stock form with no oil change, sports soft tyres, 192 hp and a BB of 6 front 4 rear.

I'll try to be at practice tonight.

Yeah, They are all the same... The only real difference is handling.

Toyota : Stiffest with snap oversteer
Subaru : softer
Scion : In between the last 2.

I often run a tuned room for these cars only. From the thousands of laps put in, this is what everybody seems to agree on...

These cars are really just matching which one fits your driving style. Just my opinion, and everyone knows opinions are like... well you know the rest.

I actually noticed more snap oversteer in the suburu, the Toyota seemed to have small under steer to me and the scion was in the middle. Might be my driving style though, I have a weird one.

These cars are probably my favorite to drive in gt5. I like their handling, braking and looks, but the power seems a little lacking.

Hey Wins,Which track was this at?
We run the audi at luguna seca this week in tyro.

We'll be running those at Tokyo R246 reverse this week in the enduro series. Just curious

Was tested at Grand Valley. We have a race there at the end of June. I heard that the handling characteristics where quite noticeable in stock form. I had to see how much it effects lap times to see if it would make a huge impact.

Might be my driving style though ...

That's the key!! My driving style fits cars more with understeer, so what feels one way to me is probably totally opposite everyone else, lol
