TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - TYRO Racing Series - BEGINNERS SERIES!

If you're worried about getting into other people while racing, try doing A spec with a car that will do even with the AI and practice going around corners without hitting them. I was that way when I first started too. Scared to death I was going to hit someone, but I eventually got comfortable with racing around everyone, and learned the braking point to the tracks we do so I know when to start backing off the gas to keep from slamming into someone on curves.

If ya want, I may hop online tonight after my kids go to sleep, and I'll let you work on driving 2 wide around corners and stuff. You can hit or slam into me all you want until you get it right.

Can I come play even if I'm lagging some? Please!! I'll be on around 10 if that's not to late.

No rubbing in this league. Taps happen, even in real motorsport, but our "gentleman's rules " work well. I raced for 4 hours Saturday and was only touched by another car once. "It Is up to the overtaking driver to make the pass cleanly, and without incident". No-one will ever "slowpoke " your line as it's not yours until your bumper is past their back tire, thus establishing two lines. Hold your line through the turn from there, just like in real life. The turn one rule is amazing and I find myself using it even when not in the league. Hope this helps!

Really? No rubbing at all? Seems like a lot of gray area there. Say I get my bumper past a racers rear tire cleanly establishing the 2nd line. At that point is the racer required to stay outside? Because everyones 1st instinct is to cut the passing car off or at least rub them a little (not wreck them), there by slowing them down. (P.S. I'm not trying to buck the rules I just want to be clear on what type of contact if any is allowable)

If you have overlap ( your pass their rear tire) it's then the driver being overtaken responsibility not to make contact with you either. You both have to try and hold a clean line thru the turn.
If you can't establish overlap before the turn back off and try again after the turn.

Thank you for the making that clear. I'll be honest I am by no definition of the word a gentleman 🤬. However I do know how to follow rules and will race accordingly.

Ha ha I'm not either. Bout as redneck as they come. Shhh don't tell anybody though. But I do try to race like one.

The rules here in this league are pretty lax compared to others, but make the racing phenomenal (because they are strict where they should be). You were right about the two-lane thing and that's kind of what I was talking about earlier. If somebody takes an inside line on you going into a turn, and everyone is cleanly in their respective lanes, those lanes must be maintained through the turn until the next straight to continue battling out for position. I've gone two, three laps before with some of the division 1 guys side by side with no give. We also never touched and typically were in hysterical laughter at the end about how amazing those lines were.

Edit: We do get rough but never towards each other, only towards our own individual car. I find myself some times slowing down in order to get a run up on somebody. Some of my passes can take two to three laps to set up, some never materialize...cause that's how racing goes, lol. A brilliant driver on here named Phisher took 17 laps to make a pass on me once on Eiger. He wore me out, I buckled under the pressure, and BAM he had me!

Heh, You mean slowing down to get into position for a clean pass? I'm beginning to see how the rules can make us all better racers and improve the experience for everyone as well. Hopefully, my transition into gentleman racer will be as clean as your passes LOL ;)

Do you have a USB stick? If you do, download the race 2 replay, save it to your USB then import it to gt5 and watch my race with garage father from laps 8-14. You'll see how to go about things.

Whenever my 2 kids go to sleep. Anywhere from 930-1030 your time. 1030-1130 my time.

Randy, you're always more than welcome to come and race with me big guy.

Cholo, set up an RA menu for in race adjustments.

A few more questions from the noob sorry if I'm a lil longwinded.

Is it better to upgrade your car and then use the limiter to meet max PP requirement or not upgrade and use as much engine power as possible? With regards to this question are there some upgrades that are imparative ie: Turbo , Engine Tuning and Weight Reduction?

Damage seems to be an odd issue on GT5. How significantly if at all does damage inhibit your cars performance? I've noticed that I don't even have to actually crash my car for the chassis to need maintenance yet I don't see any variance in my lap times or overall car performance regardless of maintenance. Should I continually restore chassis rigidity each race, every other race etc. or just disregard as a programming flaw? (Pain in the arse that GT Auto. PD should simply have maintenance as an option at the end of the race an do away with the 2X30 second load times)
How vital is it to finish all the various game options within GT5 (License, Spec A & B, Seasonal, Special, etc.) and other than good practice does it affect the main reason why we're all here, TO RACE. I'm a borderline OCD "Completionist" meaning when I get into a game I'm driven beyond all reason to complete every aspect of said game with the highest possible points, acheivements, trophies etc. and GT5 is NOT a game you want to do that with.

No upgrading is allowed here. The only adjustments you may make are to adjust your brake balance and torque split if the car is equipped with it stock. Break your car in, change the oil and race.

I don't believe it is necessary to restore your chassis after every race.

Finishing all the various races in A spec is not needed but may help your racing.

I am familiar with Turtle League rules just wanted to know which was considered better - upgrade with limiter or no upgrade full power.

I'll end up making a lounge. If you could buy (or borrow the one I have set to share) a Untuned Nissian Silvia K's S13 that would be awesome! That's the car I'm gunna be practicing with for a few laps and I think it would help if we all had the same car so it can be as fair as possible when I try to take corners at a higher rate of speed.

I don't know if this makes sense to you guys, but it does to me :scared: lol

That is true racing, granted we all can get over zealous, but for the most part if we're going through esses side by side, I'll hold my slow inside line and not extend the exit to the strip, but next chicane I expect you to do the same.

If you don't earn it you'll hear about it..

I love this league! One year strong!

Hey Whitlock I'm in your lounge where you at?
Gonna start running some laps. Grand valley looks good to me.

Mbobb or Martin, I would like to suggest a car for the next Tyro race if that's OK. I would like if the Nissan Silvia K's Dia Selection (S13) '90 made an appearance. Randy and I were having a blast driving this car around.

I think it would make a good car for Tyro! 👍

No problem. Anyone can suggest. Just send us a PM to avoid filling the thread with suggestions. That's a fun little car though.
