Hope this means I can get a classic mini any time I want, and hopefully it's improved visually, it was a shocker in GT5.

It said simplified interior, so lets hope that is more than just the silhouette :)
ahh thats what they said when the spec 2.0 update came round.

"The over 800 standard cars included in the game now feature simplified cockpit views."

nope.avi

gee looking back at the 2.0 update, you have to really appreciate PD cleaning up the mess they made with GT5. dont get me wrong, i loved GT5 before and after the update, but, its the dedication they have, dont think any other game developer has done this before.

I hope PD gets rid of it, that way we won't have to wait for-freaking-ever until the Chaparral 2J pops up in the UCD. :ouch:

I hope this time they give the 2J a performance figure that takes the fan into account so it's not the only solution for the majority of time trials.

I've been looking at this from another angle. One of my ambitions in GT5 was to get all the cars in the game (and it took quite a while until I had earned all that money (something in excess of 400 million credits) and the cars came along in the UCD). Now I maybe won't have to do that anymore as I can buy every car I want to when I want to drive it.

I will probably still buy all the cars in the game on one of my accounts (and put the cars in the new stockyard?), but the possibility to access all the cars all the time (if you have the credits) probably helps with most people's garage sizes and therefore the loading times.

The randomness of UCD was frustrating especially when you were looking for something specific.

The Pagani Zonda C12S 7.3 Was rare on my 2nd GT5 save after my 1st corrupted, i havnt seen it all in the UCD, bit annoying the UCD mainly cars we dont want and Japanese dupe cars. OCD cars were just as bad (like now with the slow k cars) no rare cars/racers. Ocd been poor recently gone downhill it has, used to hv good cars.

Yeah, that's what they said it was for. So we have the "normal" garage. Then there's the "Favorites", and the "Stockyard". Makes you wonder what you can or can't do with either of them. Have a car in the Stockyard...? - Sorry, can't use it online! Please quit the online room, move it to Favorites and come back! :nervous:

But seriously, what could it be for? You have the main bulk of cars in the Stockyard, a selection in the Main Garage and again a selection of those in the Favorites...? Why not just add a couple of user-defined garages, so one could actually group them how it makes sense?

Maybe it's just so you can minimize loading times in default view in the garage? If loading gets too long, you could move some cars into the Stockyard. Not the most elegant solution, but at least better than GT5.

The stockyard is like a secondary savegame, like you said it improves loading times but most importantly saves since the game saves a lot and it can take some time when you reach 1000 cars. While I like the idea, I'd wish there was an option to turn autosave off, or at least a "limited" like in GT4. There was too much saving in GT5 and GT6 is no different in that regard unfortunately.

You can't "enter" a car in the stockyard, you have to move it back to the garage first.

Thing is there's no real incentive to collect cars now or buy them unless I need/want to buy them. They are all there alll the time all in new condition. Boring.

 Good RIDDANCE to the UCD. It is actually kind of heartbreaking how GT5 gave us such impossibly limited access to such a vast amount of cool vehicles.

The incentive should be to win races (acquiring earnings), not collect rare 'items' like it's pokemon.

This is the first GT game where I have no interest in collecting cars. Hasn't even crossed my mind.

It's hard to collect anything when you're making only $10k per race.
I think they'll give more when you further into the game.

I like how you can buy all the cars anytime you want. But it's disappointing there's no UCD. I liked waiting for a great deal.

It criss-crosses mine. :D

I miss the UCD too, but given that, I can Pokemon my garage(s) at my leisure, which is a bit less vexing.

The UCD was pretty neat in that you had to wait to find the car you wanted. Something to check every now and then and get excited about when you found it. However, for PD it was a brilliant way to deal with the standard cars. They really should bring it back, because it added another element of reward.

I disagree. Throwing 800 cars into a mystery bag was never a good idea. It was ridiculous to keep having to hold on to millions of credits until an expensive car you wanted felt like showing up. And it also so sucked when a car you wanted appeared but you didn't have enough money, so you had to let it go, with no idea when it'll appear again.

^ This. Finding my XJ220 LM car or the Oreca Viper it turns out I missed them both about three or four times before having the cash on hand to buy them.

You're arguing against the implementation of the UCD in GT5, not the UCD itself.
If every car manufacturer had all the used cars in a used car lot, and they changed every few days, the cycles would be pretty short while adding another dimension to the game.
