This is my deal too. I enjoyed browsing the lots in GT4 as that offered a fairly good selection, though you still had to wait a small eternity for the thing to completely cycle for every car, something like 700 days! That's a bit long but still, I'm the guy who likes surprises so I'm hopeful it's still there in some form or fashion.

I'm also hopeful that the "un-Premium" interiors are suitable, because we might not hear the end of it.

It said simplified interior, so lets hope that is more than just the silhouette :)

There was an explanation for the stockyard somewhere, but I think it's basically where you put cars you rarely use, perhaps as a way for streamlining the amount of info you take online to help process things better.

Yeah, that's what they said it was for. So we have the "normal" garage. Then there's the "Favorites", and the "Stockyard". Makes you wonder what you can or can't do with either of them. Have a car in the Stockyard...? - Sorry, can't use it online! Please quit the online room, move it to Favorites and come back! :nervous:

But seriously, what could it be for? You have the main bulk of cars in the Stockyard, a selection in the Main Garage and again a selection of those in the Favorites...? Why not just add a couple of user-defined garages, so one could actually group them how it makes sense?

Maybe it's just so you can minimize loading times in default view in the garage? If loading gets too long, you could move some cars into the Stockyard. Not the most elegant solution, but at least better than GT5.

Ya that would make sense I suppose.

I think you hit the nail on the head. If it's in the stockyard, you may not be able to use it online. If that is the case it does suck if you end up in a room and want to use a rare car and can't pull it up. It's definitely a missed opportunity on PD's part not to include user defined garage areas. How they expect you to work with 1000+ cars when you have 5 or 6 minutes to get ready for an online race is beyond me:odd::yuck:

Exactly. A quick search through the correspondent/equivalent garage for the race would be a nice feature.

Even if they chose to set up defined areas like Race Cars, Tuner Cars, Production Cars, Fantasy Cars, Historic Cars etc, it would be better than "Stockyard" and nothing else. :yuck:

There is one huge advantage now that all cars are available in the dealership for me and that is I'll have far fewer cars in my garage. I'm very familiar with the cars I like from GT5 and that perform well, so my purchases will be limited to those specific cars along with trying out most of the new ones. I'll buy cars for specific online series as well. In GT5 I bought everything that came along that looked half decent in the UCD because I knew I may not see it again. I remember when I started running in @watermelonpunch 's VCRC and madly scoured the UCD for every vintage car I could find. I bought dozens that I never drove. Now I'll just buy what I need when I need it. In GT6 my purchasing will be much more streamlined and so will my garage.

Combined with my $Million bonus and 25 cars to start, I may be able to avoid offline career mode completely:cheers::gtpflag:

That's true. It will also be easier to get a car that need for a specific race, instead of waiting whofor it to appear in the UCD. 👍

Seeing that the stockyard is for cars you rarely use, you basically put them there for "winter storage", I would not be surprised if you did indeed have to bring them out to the normal garage first.

Whether UCD is gone or not doesn't really bother me, the biggest travesty in GT5 was the complete absence of standard cars at the dealership, that was a big mistake. Now I can acquire all the cars that I want without having to check the UCD every 5 loadings. It's a shame if we lose UCD when you start a career tho, I cannot imagine we will be able to afford a Skyline or GTO, but I always gold all licenses before doing anything else anyway.

Sorry, but that's not my point.

What's your point because my particular problem with the UCD is the same as others have mentioned - having money for a car, having the required level for the car but not being able to purchase the car because the UCD hasn't reached the correct rotation yet.

Nothing wrong with used cars, just asinine game mechanics.

The problem you have is not my point, I already left that behind.

It's the basic principle of buying used cars.

I hope the used cars will be for sale at the dealers. With a greater chance to buy a rare model.
The rarer, the higher the price.
Like te Ferrari 250 GTO: around 18M US dollars. With a money system that makes it hard to get, restore and maintain.

In that way it becomes special to race a rare car. Not just like a hot hatch. Repare should be high also.

Nobody really knows if it's gone or not.

Well, we do know it's not to be found...
  • in the "My Home" screen
  • inside one manufacturer's dealership
  • in the "Featured" dealership
Question would be, what the other options in the main Dealership-screen are, where the pull-down menu says "Manufacturer List" in the screenshot.

I think some of you are confusing "No more UCD" for "no more used cars".

Agreed. That's an important distinction a lot of people are not making.

Who know, maybe GT6 will have a system like GT2?

Although there are so few actual NEW cars in GT6 doesn't really make sense to have the distinction between new and used?

The UCD system was a complete waste of time. Combined with the car delivery animation, and inability to buy multiple cars at once it was a giant waste of time. All for crappy standard models. If it's really gone I'm happy with that. The OCD is an attempted fix to the crappy UCD game mechanic IMO.

UCD is a core institution of gran turismo. Finding those rare cars like a 90s RX7 with only 12k miles on the clock. Awesome! UCD cycling, yes please.

...or you could just buy the premium RX-7s with 0 miles and not waste your time cycling the UCD.

Not sure if troll or...

To each his own I guess, I personally dislike having my time wasted.

But where's the fun in that. What showroom can I walk into and buy a brand new RX7?

Probably the same one that lets you buy multiples of brand new examples of cars like the XJ13. You know, a one-off.

Yes but you can kinda forgive that but mass produced 80s and 90s motors second hand is fine for me. Gives me a sense of uniqueness about my car.

Sure they can find a less annoying way of presenting and buying the cars in the UCD but for your first two or three cars that's all you should be able to afford . Animation for the first transaction followed by the ability to multiselect and checkout with multiple cars would be a welcome change plus the UCD offering perhaps 50 line listed used cars would be fine. They coukd even have regionalised car lots like USA UCD, with Acura and Infinite, Euro UCD for Yaris and honda EU spec and Asian UCD with true JDM only models...

Probably the same place you can get this:

Those cars aren't part of the core racing in GT. They are special novelty cars, in the case of the lunar, a special interest freakshow.

They are more trophy cars than cars you'll be running in the Sunday Cup. They aren't part of the RPG side of the game.

I hope PD gets rid of it, that way we won't have to wait for-freaking-ever until the Chaparral 2J pops up in the UCD. :ouch:
