 Nice visualization, I can see what you're saying. It's built in 1969 though, long before the Miata. Just saying, many probably noticed that already

LOL. Somewhere between the t-tops, the eagle silhouette, and the "Free Spirit" logo this car got me to start humming the "Team America" theme song in my head! :) (And what's with the front and rear spoilers for "reduced aerodynamic drag" spoilers increase drag by channeling airflow up to create downforce, do they not? Either way, epic car, buddy.

Oh yes.

Do you have any information on this? Since those tail lights are definitely not from '69, same goes for those wheels. The car is much too modernly styled to be anything that Pininfarina created.

EDIT: It looks like it might even be a kit based off of the Fiat Dino.

I don't know about ugly, but I suppose some would consider dull as ugly. I've always loved the Lancer wagon. (an obvious shame they never brought the Evo wagon to the States) They're so uncommon, I almost wish I got one...

They are very upright and volvo ish. I like them but the base Lancer isn't that great of a car. A EVO version would be awesome.

The bodywork was not designed by Pininfarina, and it's pretty much just a rebodied 1969 365 GT. It was commissioned by Luigi Chinetti, founder of North American Racing Team.

I know, I had the same thoughts about its looks. The lines looked more modern than 1969.

EDIT: Sites listed the car being a 1969 model, but I found no actual statement saying that one of the two 365 GT NART Spyders was exactly built in 1969. Maybe it was built and finished much later, just based on a 1969 chassis.

I'm sure their boxy rear end gives a lot more space than my Mazda 6 Sport Wagon, but I always had some sort of liking for them. As for the being in the US, I suppose the Ralliart would be more attractive. Just not a fan of the facelift of this:

But as a Ralliart Wagon, I'd gladly take it.

I always had a soft spot for the old Mazda MX-6. They're not even that ugly, but they're ALWAYS dirty...

So, just appealing then.

If anything, I always found the second gen MX-6 to be on the bland side like its 626 Coupe predecessor was, even if I do have a soft spot for them myself. But bland doesn't really equate to ugly in my book, which is something I've touched on once before in this thread.

I always liked them until I discovered the joys of Rear-Wheel Drive. Maybe we need a subthread, for pretty but unappealing cars? :D

Or 'Humdrum But Somewhat Appealing Vehicles'.

*Cue members posting average cars their parents had when they were younger but look back on them sentimentally*

My grandma had when when I was younger. From what I remember it wasnt a bad riding car.

Those final gen Cougars are good looking IMHO shame they never got the SVT contour drivetrain.
Yeah, they don't really look bad. Just kinda bland, especially when compared to their competition. Same with it's performance. *yawn*

The MX-3, though...I always thought those looked really cool.

As awesome as these trucks are, the giant FORD lettering on the grille is very unattractive. Also, the wheels don't seem to fit the purpose of the vehicle.

Edit: This picture is absolute crap.

Do you have any idea why the "FORD" on the grill is so significant? You have a lot of history to learn young man.

Just so you are aware, it's probably the most popular grill Ford has put out on a modern vehicle. There's a reason for this.

I don't care about history if it looks ugly.

Edit: So others don't have to spend 20 seconds googling "ford raptor front"

Oh I agree for sure it could have been done a lot better. It's still good though. I love it.

It's ridiculous and that's what's so awesome. People know you are driving a Ford and you are proud of it. I wish they'd start doing that on tailgates again.

I think a Ford would be more recognizable if it had a blue oval; the big letters tend to blend in to the grille, and because they are so wide, you almost have to squint to read them. Then you realize, "Oh, it says FORD."

Tomorrow I think I will photoshop a Raptor and give it a normal-looking grille to see it it will look better.

Ford changed to the blue oval in 1982 after 80 years of it saying "FORD" in big letters across the tailgate and smaller ones on the hood. I've seen many Raptors in person and never once have I thought it "blended into the rest of the grill". The letters stick out like a sore thumb.
