...Except racing isn't aloud at the Ring's public days  👎
Real racing is not what I meant. Last time I was there, i my last lap, I was racing against a VW Golf. I just mean, lets meet go to the ring, drive a couple of laps altoghter and have fun.

You'd get away with it if you keep quiet about it..... :dopey:
They might notice 6 of us lining up in grid formation at the Start/Finish line - someone else would have to stand at the front of the grid to hold up the numbers "3... 2... 1..." and then run out of the way at the start of the race.

That could work. ;) Or we all drive up the ring, nice and slow. :)

I'd like to try it Mission 34 stylie - park in the middle of the road, straight after a blind corner, for a couple of minutes before setting off, chasing everyone else ;)

Not really. It's been less than 2 days since the last post. All the results are up, too, so this thread isn't likely to receive much traffic (although I see my win in the Saleen Test Course race has gone unrecorded ;))

When he gets his hard-drive back, and when he has time... he's got a full time job, and he works outside GTP too :D

As they said about my ruptured ligament (no... in my foot), it'll be done when it's done.

I just had a thought for UKGTP7. Since tyre wear isn't a factor on GT4 LAN games (unlike GT3 iLink games, where it most certainly was) we don't really need 5 lap races. If we dropped down to 4 lap races we'd get 20% more races done - or a whole extra series (we missed out potential races with Group Bs, Supercars and FWD Coupes this time round, all of which will poke their heads into UKGTP7). It'd drag the handicap series - which I personally love, but feel it just takes too damn long - to a manageable time too.

Any UKGTP-participants got any thoughts?

Perhaps keep the 5 lap format for the series involving faster cars - like Supercars, JGTC's etc., and drop to 4 laps for the handicap races, 'slower' car series (like Muscle Cars, Coupes) and just 2 (or 3) laps at Le Sarthe? The handicap series does take forever, although it is arguably the most fun (and most frustrating!)...? In any case, more races is 👍

(Ironically, even though the 5 lap TVR race at Le Sarthe was probably the longest race of the weekend, it was also one of the best to watch - although we did go outside to play frisbee for 5 minutes, we only missed just over one lap :P - I think what made it watchable was the fact the it was a 3-horse race for the majority. If someone had been leading by a mile (literally) by midway, it might have been a different matter)

I agree.

It wasn't much fun for me, and I was in it! I was fourth, well behind the 3 ahead, and well ahead of the 2 behind me. It did seem to go on forever.

I'm sure the race at La Sarthe where Famine was in the Esprit, and parked it, took longer. The number of laps at La Sarthe definitely needs to be cut down.

4 laps sounds like a good idea 👍 For me the handicap series is the UKGTP event - but it does drag on somewhat, leaving you feeling a bit drained. Perhaps if we make the whole event shorter we could come up with a way of making it closer during the final few races. Once you get someone onto the last car or two they always manage to still win the races before many others get to the same level. Or perhaps we just need to not invite Vexd next time? :sly:

We just have to make sure the last car hasn't got a hope in hell of winning, even in VEXD's hands, until the whole grid is made up of them. The saloon handicap from UKGTP V worked really well. The last race had everyone in the Merc, and that's how it should end. Although that would make the series even longer...

I think that's workable enough. I kept the 5 at La Sarthe as a relic, but really it doesn't need to be.

So for future events we'll have 5 laps for race cars and highest-powered road cars, 4 laps for all other road cars, 3 laps at La Sarthe and 2 laps at the 'Ring (I would say 1 lap, but it is a nice track and we only race it once every 30 races).

Oddly, the same was said of the last TVR race, at UKGTP3, which was also at La Sarthe...

I've got quite the database of similarly-classed cars. I'll just have to make the last ones significantly slower than I have been.

The saloons are better in that respect - it proved impossible to win in the Batmobile unless every other car was a Batmobile. Which daan eventually did. This time in the coupes, the Esprit HC was the Rubicon car - as I found out to my considerable cost...

Perhaps the last car should be something along the lines of a Vauxhall Vectra:P

I was thinking of an FWD Coupe - FIAT, Pug 406, Integra/RS-X - but decided not to inflict it on you.

Next time, however...

TVR&Ferrari_Fan
when you did the TVR race did you ever think someone was going to bring anything about me up, while you lot were racing

Yep - while I was racing nose-to-tail for five laps around La Sarthe I with Ashley. and VEXD, with my heart in my mouth, all I could think about was you.

No, wait...

Donbenni in this photo it looks like you looked at the TV way too close:

But weren’t you ever told to not look at the TV to close.

TVR&Ferrari_Fan in this post it looks like you displayed the kind of high quality comment we've come to expect from and made a very obvious observation about someone you don't even know for apparently no other reason that to bring attention to yourself.

But weren't you ever told to not to continuously post in a thread that doesn't even involve you.

What cars were used in the muscle car mixup thingy?

I shall update tomorrow - hopefully with some videos. But they were:
Shelby Mustang
Plymouth Superbird
Dodge Charger 440
Plymouth 'Cuda
Chevrolet Camaro Z2/8
Mercury Cougar

That photo is a bit misleading. The screen that Donbenni appears to be looking at is actually the screen that i'm sat at - you can just see me in the bottom, right corner. Donbenni's screen was a smaller, LCD screen that was sat further back on the tables. Just to clear things up.

*Edit*

Just noticed this little coincidence.

With Ashley a couple of places behind and Touring Mars 3 or 4 places above

...spooky!

 Very spooky!!

AND lotus350 is in there too... 5 former UKGTP attendees within 9 places in the Member list...
