Day 1 - Saturday

We went for a gentle start to the LAN, to allow lots of time for setting up and for people to arrive, get food, get drink and ease themselves into fun - before the concentrated gaming that is Dutcho eventing :D

So an early afternoon start and just the one series... Pick Your Own!

Pick Your Own
We did a PYO event at The Dixie, but this time I decided to incorporate a handicap into the event. There were 30 cars, each grouped into one of 6 groups depending on their average ranking after quite extensive testing. If you picked one of the top 5 cars, you got points based on where you finished. If you picked one of the next 5 cars you got this PLUS a bonus point. One of the next 5 cars and you get yet another bonus point - all the way down to the final group where you'd get 5 bonus points every race. Just for picking it!

In the end, the car choices looked like this:
Blacksheep - Ford Focus RS - Gp5 (4 bonus points) +1pt FWD bonus
daan - Chevrolet Corvette GS - Gp1 (0 bonus points)
Famine - Nismo Skyline GT-R LM Edition - Gp2 (1 bonus point)
homeforsummer - Opel Speedster Turbo - Gp5 (4 bonus points)
Roo - Mazda RX-7 Type RS-R - Gp2 (1 bonus point)
Sureboss - Chevrolet Corvette GS - Gp1 (0 bonus points)
Tig - Chevrolet Corvette GS - Gp1 (0 bonus points)
Venari - Pontiac GTO 5.7 - Gp3 (2 bonus points)
VEXD - Acura NSX - Gp2 (1 bonus point)

There was also a point awarded for the fastest lap across all the drivers.

We had 6 cunningly-named races planned - a mixture of shorter "sprint" races, lengthier races and a couple of nearly-endurance races. Tyre choices are always open to the drivers which made for some unusual tactics in the longer races :D

Looking good folks, recognise most faces, but one or two new peeps too.
Not much "musical chairs" type action going on though!
VEXD's wild gesticulating and finger-sucking (his own, of couse, nothing pervy!) after that last race had me thinking you must have some sort of rave soundtrack going on!

So are you going "Dutcho" style at the moment?

I see Famine is a member of the ass-debating club :)
Or at least, that's what I'm reading on his t-shirt.

Nope. A six race pick and mix handicap type event: Pick a car from one of 7 classes of road car that you have to use for all 6 races, tyre choice is up to you. Points are based on your finishing position + your car class. At the mo there's a 6 lap Nurburgring race happening, which has taken over 45 minutes so far.

Got 20 laps of Tokyo coming later too.

I'm watching the stream having a laugh.......

Who is sitting where (so I can put faces to names)?? :)

Now 1/2 the people left............who's there on cam right this second??

When it's next on, can someone watch the webcam on a laptop pointed at the webcam so the world implodes please?

Thanks.

We're on a break now :D Need food, parmo is on its way...

In the last race, left to right on LAN 2 (backs to you) were Roo, me, homeforsummer, Sureshot and left to right on LAN 1 (facing you) were Tig, Venari, Blacksheep, VEXD and daan. Though I suspect Roo and Tig weren't in shot (not wide enough angle to get all of us in) and VEXD was a little hidden in his very low Escort seat :D

No worries then. Thanks to that seat, for 1/2 a second I thought VEXD was a midget dancing next to daan!!

"Lunch" break over. Everyone complaining of being completely full of parmo... 20 laps at Tokyo to go :D

It's back on now. We were waiting for VEXD to... well... wake up.

Is it the same seat arrangement as yesterday Famine??

If so, poor Tig, he has to be the midget for the day as it looks like he's copped the escort seat. :P

*added bit* What does the shirt say Famine, something about being the Stig's cousin??

We're having a lunch* break now - with two races done since VEXD actually woke up. But we'll crack on in a couple hours with beaucoup de racing - another 28 races planned :D

*Monaco GP

That's me wearing the "I am the stig's fat cousin" T shirt.

 That's just classy daan, I like it.

If it was me, it would be "the stig's anorexic cousin". :embarrassed:

Thanks for the reminder about Monaco. Sucks to be here with delayed coverage. :grumpy:

Thanks to the webcam, it's almost like being there!

Albeit stuck up in the corner over Famine's head...

Lookin' good, guys! 👍

Edit: Next years addition suggestion - audio. :D

I see some familiar faces. Except homeforsummer,Tig and BlackSheep.

Next time; a camera with a wider angle and a microphone. ;)

We have a microphone. I just can't link to such profane content on GTP.

Milford Cubicle may start moving the camera about so we can see more angles.

I know exactly what you mean! :scared:
Having a garage full of up to 10 or 12 people and inevitable mistakes, racing "incidents" and other background conversation means there's always the likelyhood of some sort of profanity to slip out!

You just can't censor a live webcam in practical timelines.

*looking very hard at the monitors* Looks like the boys are doing a New York race right at this minute. It was hard to see, the webcam makes the screens a little blurry. ;)
