Frontal Speed

Take a shot of the front of a car and make the shot look like the car is really coming at you with speed.

Cars: Any, fast ones preferred
Tracks: Any
Phototravel: No

May 20th

* Allowed photo editing tools: Resize. No other modifications allowed outside GT4 photomode.
* Use thumbnails to post your entry.
* You can post a preview image if you like, but it must be no bigger than 300x400 pixels.
* Note: No editing other than resize allowed in making the preview image either.
* You may change your final entry once, please edit your original post.
* Do not use an entry you have used in a previous competition.
* This competition will run in a two-week format: first a week open for entries, then another week for voting.
* The winner of the previous round will pick a theme for the round and choose the top 10 entries for the the poll.

I'm surprised I haven't heard outcry over the use of 'artificial blur'...

Without it, this week will prove somewhat difficult, but that's what this competiton is all about; camera skills > editing skills.

Fortunately, I believe I have a perfect contender for this, let's just hope I didn't edit it beforehand...

Yes it's difficult theme but you can still do plenty with manual focus, shutter speed and different zooms. Blurring the background while keeping the car focused should be impossible though with these tools, but who knows, maybe someone can pull that off too.

I agree, it would be a perfect theme for 2.0.
On PMC it would already be really hard, but the shot itself would at least look better than unedited.

The speed effect maintaining the car decently focused is something I'm curious to see if anyone can pull off. I'll try too, but I'm not that confident that I can do it...

getting a good speed blur with gt4 isnt as hard as some think. its just hard to get all of the car sharp and in focus. but, when you see a car speed by, isnt the only thing you focus on sharp and in focus. not the entire thing?

ill admit that, but, thats because pd put some sort of weird twisting on frontal blurs.

Is this ok?sry if i crop off the gt watermark (d***!) anyway,this has to be one of my better shots.just played it today,its a cool shot.almost like a photo travel photomode... (nice view of the Arc de Triomphe)

Thanks GT40 MKII, a comment like that means alot comming from someone with your talent. I took loads of shots today trying to get this frontal speed idea right, and then I ended up using the very first shot I took as my entry
