Unpopular opinion: the bench press, it is by far the most overrated lift there is. I'd go so far as to say it even feels awkward and its not a good test for upper body strength. The overhead press is a much better indicator.

B...but that is my go to lift! Actually it is my favorite because it is one of the few that my body doesn't feel overstretched or out of place.

Hey thats just my opinion, if you enjoy it more power to you! 👍

For the record, I do not dislike it because I'm bad at it, I bench 330lbs but this exercise receives a craaazy amount of hype compared to other lifts which are just as important.

I agree with your point a hundred percent. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the phrase "how much do you bench?" It is insane. Especially sense there are many more important lifts.

Maybe you can help me out on this problem I have when lifting (which is not often).

When I go to do squats, I have a hard time reaching backwards hold the bar. I have always been like this even with assistance. Say I just squat with the bar, it feels like my shoulders and elbows are about to dislocate or something. Obviously the pain isn't that bad, because I can bare that. But it seems as if my squating potential will never be close to test because it hurts my arms and neck to hold that much.

Yeah its a known fact that squatting is hard on the shoulders and elbows because you have to rotate them back to the absolute maximum. There is even a medical condition thats called the ''squatters shoulder'', a cranky shoulder from rotating it back so hard. The best solution would be getting a squat safety bar:

What I do is lots of shoulder stretching exercises before doing squats to make my arms more flexible.
I also use a very wide grip, as wide as possible to safe my shoulders. This is me doing a wide grip:

Thats how the powerlifters do it as well:

Wow. I thought I was the only one. Whew...

As far as stretching goes, I also do plenty of that.

Thanks for the tip man. Unfortunately, I do not lift on the regular or I probably would buy one those. I have a 46 pound U-Shaped bag that I put on my shoulders. Although it isn't that heavy, I don't even have to touch it when squating. :dopey:

I hate laptops. The good old-fashioned desktop is SOOOOO much better.

Except when you need portability. I actually own a gaming laptop. Yes I know it has limited performance and I can't upgrade it every other year with new parts. But I like to game and I study on another city. I move around a lot and it's not practical to have a desktop. My gaming laptop offers me more than enough performance for anything. When I settle I'll a more powerful desktop and downgrade the laptop, but for now, It's more practical to have that laptop.

When it comes to portability a tablet or even your phone is way better than a laptop is. I have a Nexus 10 table with a Bluetooth keyboard and it's smaller, lighter, and has a longer battery life than a laptop ever could. I've always hated laptops and now I just think they are outdated technology.

In my experience tablets can do about 80% of anything any typical laptop can do just as well or better, plus a handful of things laptops really cannot do effectively; but are completely useless if you need them for the 20 percent or so of things they aren't good at. It's really no wonder that they basically killed netbooks and similar sized laptops almost immediately.

I've always enjoyed dry cereal. I think that most of the breakfast cereal-eating world is completely nuts...

Breakfast cereal with milk looks the scrapings of broken garbage disposal, tastes like moist sawdust, smells like damp cardboard; it's also messy and inconvenient.

I've endured your strange morning ritual for decades, and I'm not going to take it anymore!

I absolutely despise dry cereal. Not a bad snack just to have a cup of once in a while, but when I wake up in the morning my cereal must have milk in it (2% to be exact). Especially when it's a cereal like Life it must be drowned in milk, it just absorbs too much of it.

Since we're talking about cereal, I should say that I enjoy the cereal-flavored milk that's left over after a nice bowl, especially if it's Fruity Pebbles or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Don't know if this is unpopular or not.

Pretty much - unfortunately, the 80% of what I need is running/loading/tweaking enterprise software, and tablets aren't yet designed for it...yes, on the front end, but not so much (zero, in my company's case) on the back end. The rest is editing photos, which seems work fine for casual editing, but less so for more precise methods.

I think I've seen only one netbook in use out in public within the past two years...not counting my own, of course. It's still the best way to get photos out from an SD card if you're in an airplane seat with limited room, but that's a very specialized purpose. That, and typing up trip reports. A modern tablet is still much more powerful, flexible, portable, and has a nicer resolution.

(Let this be a fair warning for those of you who have to fly in a CRJ-200 or ERJ-135/145.)

I used to prefer desktops to laptops, but now my computer use bounces from household to household, including work. My laptop still basically lives plugged in on a desk, so the extra portability of a tablet (or phone) is a non-factor. I don't need more internet time; I'm on it too much already. I also use legacy Windows software and niche Windows-based freeware frequently, and I need an optical drive.

Modern laptops don't trade away much compared to a desktop. I remember when they were so weak for gaming, but now there's almost no point in getting a desktop instead of a laptop if you aren't investing in seriously powerful hardware.

I believe desktops will die in the next five years, if not sooner.

Need for Speed Undercover for the PS2 is a great game.

I am not ashamed to say I was one of the few that actually loved it. I can see why people dislike it, but I actually got a lot of enjoyment out of it back in the days and to me, it's still fun, even now. Off the top of my head, the fact the game was easy and not overly challenging was nice. The cops weren't nearly as annoying as they was in MW and Carbon and that is a huge plus for me. It had the CCX and the Zonda in the game normally and being able to street race and customize them is something I had wanted to do since Carbon. The customizations was actually pretty decent and while maybe not as good as Prostreet, it was still better than Most Wanted. Had some pretty good times in Chase down mode as well.

Truthfully it was the last NFS I ever truly enjoyed from start to finish that I would gladly play again. I haven't played the PS3/360/PC versions of the game, but I have seen videos of the PS3 version on Youtube and truthfully I am not fond of it. From what I have seen, it just isn't the same to me and the fact the car sounds are not the same as it was with the other 2nd NFS games, that actually bothers me a lot. So, in my even more unpopular opinion, I actually prefer the PS2 version of it.

Getting a girlfriend and being married is a waste of time, at least for me.
I prefer Dreamworks over Disney and Pixar.
Pizza is terrible without sauce.
Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

They might not need to be but I'm damn glad they are. Nothing on this planet is better than breakfast for supper.
I couldn't think of having a full English at night

Unless you mean pancakes. In which case they are a dessert.

I don't think any American is thinking about beans and what ever else you guys call breakfast.

Think of a cheesy omelette, or my favorite, a chicken fried steak, with over easy eggs and hash browns, smothered in gravy. Oh yeah, and a buttered English muffin on the side.

Cut out the hash brown, muffin and eggs and you just described a roast dinner.

I don't usually like eating breakfast stuff for breakfast. I wouldn't want it later in the day or at night.

Now if they offered lunch/dinner stuff in the morning, I would love that. Most places around here don't, though.

I absolutely hate popular concluding of ethnics, especially when people say for example "Brits did it" instead of "British politicians did it." It's like someone wants to spread hate.

Taking away the privacy should be punished with life slavery.

I wouldn't say that's spreading hate unless people are super sensitive snowflakes who take offence for any minor jibe.

If I was to say "Blame the Yanks for McDonald's." I'm not spreading hate or implying offence other than the use of the word "blame" which in this case could be a humorous substitute for "thanks" (as I happen to really like McDonald's).
