Aside from figuring out that it is a recently released game, is it bad that I have no idea what Fortnite is or does?
It's a battle royale game that's free to play and has become something of a huge cultural phenomenon.

Fortnite is much more than battle royale, that just happens to be the f2p mode they are using. The base game is a sandbox survival much like a mix between minecraft and 7 days to die.
And given they surpassed pubg in player base, i dont think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

Justin Bieber is a genuinely decent singer. His off-the-stage conduct is unworthy of praise, but I think that a few of his songs are okay.

Don't really get the hate for Fortnite.
People hate on popular things. I've no real idea why but GTP especially seems to be one of the worst for this.

My unpopular opinion is that GTP has degraded in quality for a couple of years now. The newspage is a clickbait mess especially.

I can't really comment on the forums themselves as I've kind of naturally drifted away from them.

I prefer watching live performances or stripped-down versions of hit songs as opposed to their studio/radio versions in Youtube, because that's how you know if the band/artist/singer really is that good. Examples are:

"They changed it, now it sucks."

I disagree with you - actually taking the time to read the articles would probably change your perception of the titles. They say exactly what is going to be in the article when you open it.

Example 1:

It's exactly what it says on the tin.

Example 2:

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Example 3:

Exactly what it says on the tin.

I can attest, as someone who was on the Editorial staff for four months, that they do what they can to avoid clickbaiting.

Clickbait, in popular usage, is misleading titles or content design to lure people in.

If you don't like it anymore, then leave. Nobody is forcing you to visit the site. You may not like where the news section is going and that's fine. You may have drifted away from the forums and that's fine. But I think it is asinine to bash the place that you still visit.

I more or less have left. The only reason I was here yesterday was after clicking a link in a discord server I'm part of. I just felt like chiming in an opinion, which seeing as how it's rustled some jimmies, has proved to be mildly unpopular, unlike the previous few which just proved to be a circlejerk the like of which has been done to death on literally every popular thing.

But thanks for your advice anyway, have never thought of that myself. 👍

For one thing, my jimmies aren't rustled. I wanted to challenge the opinion with some examples, including one from well over a year ago that I wrote.

Slightly rethinking the wheel doesn't mean you've improved it or reinvented it. Fortnite may be your poison of choice but it's not different from H1Z1 and PUBG and even team based f2p FPS/survival games. You just have slightly more strategy involved and antics with the building of stuff. It may stand the test of time for the remainder of this year, but I'd be willing to bet that come fall or winter something will have replaced it or put it to second best.

That is how the esport machine works right now. Unless your mainstays like Starcraft, League, Dota and so on, they're just getting your "15 minutes of attention" at best.

I don't really see why someone should leave because they take issue with a place they joined, enjoyed for years and see deteriorating potentially in the past year or two. It's not different to the very poor argument made by some when other complained about GT or other things, everyone should be able to voice that issue even if others dislike it without be told to go away. Arguing why @Akmuq wrong is much better than ignoring his valid points, be it unpopular or popular.

There is a difference between bashing and critiquing.

Especially with all the rumors that the next Call of Duty and Battlefield games will have a battle royale mode.

:odd: I dont recall making any of those points... not sure why i got the tag in that regard.

Crab is better than lobster.

And a more controversial assertion, particularly in this part of the world...

*looks over shoulder*

...pork is better than beef.
