Update 1.12/1.13 Undocumented Changes Thread

It feels more like you're steering the track around the car instead of driving a car along the road. It also gives an incredibly poor sense of speed, is too far from the car, and I actually find it less precise for judging things such as oversteer. When I want to play racing games without my wheel in a less serious way (using a controller on the sofa or whatever), I like to use the chase cam. I'll happily do so in FM5, but not in GT6.
Well, you are a forza player then? Its the forza one that is wrong... When you steer in a normal car, your seat doesnt move left or right. Its so... arcadey? Its not good for precise driving IMO. It might be good for drifting perhaps, but that is it.
Being too far back from the car, that I agree 100%, It should be closer or have a 2nd cam with closer view. In fact with some cars like the Lancia Stratos the cam is closer.

I noticed a sign on the right before the back straight on Bathurst in the toyota seasonal event , is this new or do i just not pay much attention ?

You mean here?:

(fast forward to 1:23)

I also had a feeling that something has changed.

True, but why should there be confusion ? There is no car in the game that carries a license/number plate... is there ?

Well, numbers on bumpers (license plates) are only worth 5hp but numbers on your doors/bonnet/boot (number plates) are worth at least 10hp (not quite the gain you see from racing stripes or flames, but it's significant). 👍

Car sound profile has been rebalanced

I read at least one person earlier today said something about one or two car's sounds being better.

That got me hunting. Recently I had the ability to send PD some thoughts on how they could rebalance the car sounds without re-recording and reprogramming the entire game.

I'm pretty sure they did it. Listen for the following things, which were all things I hoped they would do:

  • All car views provide more engine sound compared to aspiration, and engines sound more "throaty" or bass heavier. (Yes, the vacuum cleaner effect is much less than before)
  • Car sounds are more uniform across the various views. There is no longer just one view where you can hear your exhaust, for instance. Though, sounds do still change according to the natural orientation of certain real life sound sources depending on the view, as it should be.
  • Impacts with barriers are generally more quiet, until you bang really hard head-on or very high spead. Impacts produce less bass (allowing you to turn your sound up and hear that new throaty engine and exhaust)
  • Exhaust parts progressively showcase variations on stock exhaust more convincingly.
  • Tire sounds (might) be balanced a little better against the rest of the car's sounds.
Tested using following cars.
Audi R8 LM Race car
McLaren Mp4 12-C (progressively added exhaust parts)
Rx-7 (80s)

This, and the new driving FFB make using all of the view modes realy, viable options for racing and driving in GT6.

I don't know, I could be crazy here, but I think I'm really hearing what I think I'm hearing ;)

I have created a separate thread for this here because I think it deserves more discussion.

- Don't forget the online autodrive ghosting.
Missed it, thanks.

You can do it since 1.00

Also:
-Ford GT '02 is now Ford GT Concept '02
-The transition when installing parts is now fade black. Previously it was a jump cut.

That has been available for quiet some time. I'm unsure of when it was added, but I used that function when posting some pics in the "pics of your driftcars"-thread some months ago.
Removed the photomode changes, thanks.
Just saw a message I never saw before while installing flat floor in my 135, it basically said it was linking the purchase to the aero parts and if one of them would be uninstalled they both would be.
Can someone else confirm this is a new thing?

The Nissan Leafs' interior code seems to be written over, as it is no longer visible.
Can someone else confirm this as well?

In a real car, while it makes sense to say that you are sitting still while the car turns around you, that's aided by the fact you can feel the car turn due to the shifting of weight, and the loss of that sensory input is what makes the Forza cam better to me - the feeling of the car moving is substituted by seeing the car move left and right, whereas GT just feels... odd. It's such a personal opinion thing that I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, really, or we'd end up arguing about this forever!

Just got gold on the last Zahara challenge 40 seconds ago, and the moment I cross the line the game freezes for a few seconds to let me know that there is a new update?! I'm assuming it's a hotfix but I'll reboot the game as the pop-up suggested

Tin foil hat time:
The custom dials use an RGB colour wheel set-up that has never been used in GT before - could this eventually be transferred to painting cars themselves? Maybe adding the dials was a sneaky, low-key way of implementing it without obviously adding it, sort of how people are suggesting that custom racing numbers may act as a similar test, eventually leading to livery editing of some description.
They can choose to apply it to the game HUD (tach and speedo) first before the actual car paint though.

Ah, but even the in-game HUD is limited to about six colours. The is the first time the player, in any GT game, has been given complete freedom in a selecting colours. The next logical step is to apply to every situation an RGB colour setting would make sense (e.g. in-game HUD, car paint, wheel paint).

Well if im honest the hud is easier since its just a simple batches of color. The car paint and its similar on the other hand has to account the lighting, etc.

I can't believe how many of you guys are complaining about this, the update on the force feedback is a big improvement. Amount of grip/level of feedback around bends is much more realistic than it used to be.
Hi kilogttam,
Maybe because... when "many guys" complain... they must have some reason ? You find this more realistic when compared to... what ?
Anyhow, what wheel are you using and what are your settings for FFB?

The 'RUF Yellowbird' has one:

All I'm going to say from here is that texture and ffb are more important than a few pounds of torque bumped up in resistance. They should have waited to figure out the real issue. Haven't played with the ffb patch from this morning, but I'm going to be pissed of the new texture and detail is gone from g27 feedback. It was fine for g27 users!

Adding/removing aero parts on the 135i is just like always.
The Nissan Leaf G 11's interior is still there, so I can't confirm either.

No, it is different. Not sure if it applies to all vehicles but it is definitely different, getting a large text screen while installing flat floors.

It was fine for YOU, not everyone else.

Well, it seems that on the hotfix released today (Sep,17) PD tweaked the FFB.
Reports on other threads state that it's now less loose despite not being as "hard" as before v1.12.
Conclusion: PD recognized something was wrong... and corrected it (surprisingly) quickly
I'll give it a try.

Both expressions can be used interchangeably IMO.

Pretty sure whenever people have used the term "number plates", nobody has confused it for license plates in regards to GT6 (mainly because you don't have customizable License plates).
