Upgrading to a g25

I really do love my G25, though it does have some issues.
Certainly things like the quality of the materials used, the peddles (along with actually having a clutch), and the ability to have the shifter on either side (very handy if you drive a RHD car, shifting with the right hand is just odd!)

The biggest downside for me is that the gear leaver is a huge let down, needs to be a hell of a lot stiffer to feel like a real car. rather dissapointing as that was one of the main reasons for picking the g25, and now that I have it I rarely bother using it (the manual shift) as I find half the time it ends up in the wrong gear (I've been driving for 8 years, all in manuals, strangely enough I dont think I should be having any problems selecting the gear that I want...)

Dispite that, just using the wheel with the attached paddles I'd still highly recomend it.

I've had a DFP since GT4 and it's never let me down, despite letting various kids play with it. I can see that it doesn't feel as nice as a G25 but it does the job and the sound is usually turned up loud enough that I can't hear the wheel!

The only thing I'll say is that there seems to be some discussion on various SHIFT threads to suggest the G25 work better with SHIFT.

The addition of a H selector and clutch are pointless as far as I can see, but each to their own :-)

If you ask me the pedals and shifter alone are worth getting a G25 (or 27) over a DFGT. And while the DFGT is better than the dreaded DFP which felt like it was set in glue. DFGT / DFP have a dual strage transmission in order to get high forces from a single motor, which means there is still a tad more inertia and 'resistance to fast movement' than the single transmission G25/27. With force feedback wheels you could have a single tiny motor wheel rip your hands off, but it will need more gearing so it'll happen slower. And since the steering sensor is on the motor shaft, and every gear ads some play, there will be less play on a G25/27. Looking on the PC I had a slight 'deadzone' when switching direction on the DFP; all the gears had to interlock the other way before the steering sensor was rotated.

Oh and the issue that the G25 pedals aren't spaced out nicely, well there might be a sollution in my signature.. ;)

cheers

Have you ever used a DFGT? It has no noticeable play in the wheel, I have heard some people say that it has less play than their G25.

I have owned both the DFGT and the G25. The G25 is in my book well worth the extra money. It's very simply a better wheel, not to mention the pedals

I love :gtpflag:. You guys are awesome here! I will probably upgrade to the G25 as soon as the G27 comes out, cause the price will drop. Thank you all for the great feedback on this issue! Sorry to the op for sidetracking the conversation. 👍

If you live in the US, you should pay attention to the G25 on Dell. I picked mine up long before there was any announcement of a G27 for the cost of a DFGT. (Actually a couple bucks less). Had I printed that ad off the website and brought it into Best Buy, I probably could have saved more time and money.
Just a friendly head's up.

You might check Best Buy, I picked one up this week for around 160 and they had a bunch sitting right next to the stack of 300 dollar g27s.

Eh, Best Buy doesn't have the G25s in their stock on their website anymore, nor does any other retailer website. I'm guessing this means that they are no longer taking in shipments of them and are just getting rid of them until they clear their stock. Does anybody think I have a chance at getting one around the Holiday season?
