VCRC *'79 Hatchbacks Team Enduro @ Cape Ring Inside* Complete!

Is this turning into a dating agency?...low speed vintage dating:crazy:

What I don't post on the thread for a day and this is what happens?? :sly:

Anyway... welcome all.

Saint & Gazelle still need a team name.

Jackargent & I still need to have a practice session & decide which cars we're in!!! Not to mention a colour. ;)

Several people are not teamed yet, but that's okay. Work on that.

And I'm not convinced red is faster. I usually get beaten by silver & black cars.
Though black could be dangerous in races after dark. ;) :sly:
Which is something we don't have to worry about at Cape Ring Inside. :)

Careful mate it's far from araf! With 73hp broken in, it's a tough beast to tame around Cape Ring Inside ;)

What can I say, it's the closest thing to a Testarossa in GT5. With power like that I couldn't resist :D

My Team will be Team HeckleJeckle, using cars that're Bannana Yellow (from the premium classic Dodge Challenger) with black wheels.

These aren't the colors that my team will use in future events, its just something for now to suit the 1970's cars we'll be racing.

We don't enforce colour continuity around here. (If we did I'd be in trouble.)

Anyway, maybe I missed it somewhere? Who is your team partner?

I don't have one yet, but I do have a strategy for anyone who joins. If team colors aren't necessary than i may change mine to something more late 70's, and if I get no Jeckle I won't Heckle. I'll go solo.

Some interesting trivia on the A112: The A112 shared parts with the Fiat 127, which served as the basis to what the Yugo would copy.

Of course, during this process and the many things that Bricklin did to ready the Yugo for American streets, anything good from the A112 was taken away.
Except for being light and nimble.

After trying out the two cars I can say that this'll be close, the Civic is quicker but the Abarth handles slightly better and has a better gear box.

As far as the Civic goes, well just be sure to patch up any rust before the race.

Get your fluffy dices, rose-sunglasses, and your 8-tracks ready!

Apologies I have to pull out. Something's come up and I can no longer partake.

If anyone wants to replace me in Team Canada to pair up with JP I can send you the car - broken in and painted in the right colours.

I'm away this weekend. If you plan on running it one more time on another day I'd participate.

:( I've lost my partner. Anyone else available to pair up with me? We can drop the Team Canada designation if you aren't a Canuck or are uncomfortable with that:sly:

Sounds good to me. What color?

how does the blue from the subaru with yellow wheels sound?

Watermelon; I have tried the track and I am forced to cut turn8/9 accidently at times, I believe this maybe an issue. Can I ask if anyone else is having a problem round this corner/s as it really is annoying me and messes up that lap and the next when praticing.

I'll keep an eye on the thread, but if i don't have a partner by tomorrow afternoon sometime, I'll be withdrawing.:yuck:

Okay updated. Ready to race tomorrow!

Sorry I've neglected the forum the past few days been suffering with a bad sinus infection. Bleh!!!!!

@ Johnnypenso & Cobrius

Not to worry.
There are several people not paired yet. And come race time, occasionally there's someone left without a partner.
Also, last time Turner raced without a partner and said it was one of his favourite races he's done. :)

Here's the list of not yet paired including their car preferences.
My suggestion is that if you don't have a partner, be prepared to drive either car.

Yet to be Teamed Sign-up:
  1. Johnnypenso / Johnnypenso / Team Canada / Civic / GT Polarised #4 (red) & White
  2. cc570 / cc570 / Abarth / tbd
  3. GranTurismo916 / atongo619 / Civic / tbd
  4. Ryoku75 / Ryoku75 / Civic / tbd
  5. takatasan / brant2788 / tbd / tbd
  6. cobrius / cobrius / tbd /

Can't help but notice that Johnnypenso & cc570 could make a team. Hint hint! lol

gazelle68 - Honda CIVIC 1500 3door CX ‘79 - corsa red (or as close as i can get :dopey:)

I think I have a Corsa Red paint chip I can send you if you like. I'll check later.

Hi melon, hope your feeling better now :)

thanks for the offer on the paint chip but we have a last minute colour change to announce if thats ok.

Ardenza Amaranth

catch everyone later 👍

RE Turn 8/9

I'm assuming you're talking about that chicane here:

Assuming you're talking about the quick right & left chicane...

Yes, it's a pesky chicane. But if you're cutting it a lot by accident, that means you're going in too hot and taking it too aggressively, or aimed somewhat wrong. Either way, the fact that the rail is right there makes that a dicey situation ripe for damage!

So...

1) Easy in, faster & straighter out. Aggressive driving into that chicane leads to trouble. Going into the chicane slower, actually can reduce your lap time (in my experience).

2) If you accidentally cut the chicane, let off the throttle, exercise caution re-entering the track if there's traffic, and just don't use it as a means of passing, and if you do by accident, give the position back.

3) That chicane should not, by any sane driver, be seen as a viable passing point opportunity on the track under normal circumstances, as even small cars can't fit 2 wide through the chicane comfortably without contact being likely.
IMO, the only passing that should be done at that chicane would be if the car ahead made a big mistake and went off-track, or if there was already a race incident in progress at the chicane, and you had to steer around and pass to avoid colliding with the crashed cars obstructing the track.

And that makes me think of this... late braking as a means to put in a pass at that chicane with damage on heavy... would not only result likely in a damage incident & a likely penalty for the offender... But would lead me to start a monthly "Dumb Ass :dunce:" award.
