RE Turn 8/9
I'm assuming you're talking about that chicane here:
Watermelon; I have tried the track and I am forced to cut turn8/9 accidently at times, I believe this maybe an issue. Can I ask if anyone else is having a problem round this corner/s as it really is annoying me and messes up that lap and the next when praticing.
Assuming you're talking about the quick right & left chicane...
Yes, it's a pesky chicane. But if you're cutting it a lot by accident, that means you're going in too hot and taking it too aggressively, or aimed somewhat wrong. Either way, the fact that the rail is right there makes that a dicey situation ripe for damage!
So...
1) Easy in, faster & straighter out. Aggressive driving into that chicane leads to trouble. Going into the chicane slower, actually can reduce your lap time (in my experience).
2) If you accidentally cut the chicane, let off the throttle, exercise caution re-entering the track if there's traffic, and just don't use it as a means of passing, and if you do by accident, give the position back.
3) That chicane should not, by any sane driver, be seen as a viable passing point opportunity on the track under normal circumstances, as even small cars can't fit 2 wide through the chicane comfortably without contact being likely.
IMO, the only passing that should be done at that chicane would be if the car ahead made a big mistake and went off-track, or if there was already a race incident in progress at the chicane, and you had to steer around and pass to avoid colliding with the crashed cars obstructing the track.
And that makes me think of this... late braking as a means to put in a pass at that chicane with damage on heavy... would not only result likely in a damage incident & a likely penalty for the offender... But would lead me to start a monthly "Dumb Ass
" award.
